  • AK 74....

  • like this format

  • Man these are some kick ass videos! I really do not want more than one rifle( my HD weapon). I live in the suburbs in SoCal. I bought a 20" upper from BCM at the time, because the 16's were all sold out. Considering my longest shot would be about 50 yards, or even shooting inside my home would the extra 4" make that much of a difference in handling? It already has a collapsing stock mounted. I also noticed at the range that those 16's were REALLY loud.

  • Nice vid. Lol'd at the Bodega Bay reference!

  • nice basic info.. the format is kind of slow.. but it works.

  • Glazier rounds...

  • I liked the format. Needs more action though, to engage the audience. You need to flank all the senses you can, visual and auditory. lol :p

  • NIce Ishapore on the wall, and great informational video.

  • the content was comprehensive. Round penetration is a key element to choosing a weapon for home defense. If i had a neighbor with a shared wall using a slug for home defense ... i would be concerned.

  • Good format, I think the top comments about mixing styles are good, but more importantly for me i think some close-ups/ macro shots of the arms would really make the video stellar.. still a good overall, educational video though, here its evident that the substance outweighs presentation by a wide margin. :)

  • that jacket was HOT! lol. i like the clarity of your voice vs a video shot with wind noise. for this video a studio setting was fine but field demonstrations are nice too. i also love your slow motion demonstrations. i do not like you're videos where you don't explain things. such as the bushmaster video. always talk to us. you do on-screen text very well too. keep it up. i would love to hear more about AR's. i am in the market and havn't got a clue. thanks and keep up the good work.

  • Good format but lose the jacket suit blazer and put your kpot on.

  • Old format. This was still a great video but I like the editing you do in the other videos. I will admit this format worked well for the topic. Maybe just switch it up.

  • OK a few thoughts, first I like the new format a lot, but what I would like to see is a mixture of the old and new formats. What I liked about the old format was the ability to accurately show parts and images through editing. As well as the high speed video analysis which was a unique feature of your channel. What I like about the new format is the clean style and that it puts a face to the voice in the videos. Overall I think a blend of both styles would be the optimal choice.

  • Picture quality looks alittle hazey. As far as the format of the show itself...I like the high speed camera stuff with a little run and gun. Not so much this standing and talking at the camera. If that helps at all...

  • I also prefer the old format. It was something I hadn't seen before on YT, it reaked of professionalism and knowledge. This format was good but not as unique. Also, the old format allowed you to insert many videos of you shooting which gave me not only enjoyment but also another way of remembering what you said (the more aids the better).

  • I like the old format better.

  • Another top notch video. I can't say I prefer one format over another. I think they both come off very professional. Great points as well. I hear the shotgun scare factor argument all the time. It drives me nuts. You're hoping that a criminal will suddenly start using his brain just because he heard a gun rack in.

  • I like both formats. This version is more personal and conversational. The old version is less personal, but appears more information dense. A hybrid might work well also where you start out addressing viewers and then switch to the production when demonstrating or offering examples. Either way, you are representing firearms owners well and producing a professional-looking product. Keep up the good work!

  • all cartridge are weak compared to a 1000 pounder.......

  • Old style was way better. It was unique and original. Plus it showed more footage of the guns.

  • I think your older style was more unique somehow. I like the use of fade to black and the typed summaries.

  • great job like it

  • great job

  • Well, I like the breaks, with the changing topic headers. I like the concise, compressed topic format.

I thought the background wasn't appropriate in this video. The color, the texture of the peg board and the crowded nature of the different weapons hanging on it - they appear to me to diminish the impact of the weapon being discussed.

  • I think you still hit all the points and you're cutting 66% production time. I vote for the new format.

  • I prefer the older format. I'm not a huge fan of the talking head style for Youtube, especially without more cutaways to video clips or detailed images.

  • I like the new format

  • Lose the jacket...

  • I've been following your blog for the last year or two and am a fan. You clearly know your stuff. The new format is ok. I'm undecided on whether or not I like it better.

The content is a bit weak though. You really know your stuff and it's obvious when one views your other videos. The only problem is it seems like you strive for brevity and a lot of content gets left out. It reminds me of the GOP debates.......Ok, we have a complex economy and many problems. Tell us how to fix it in 40 seconds

  • Need a new jacket

  • Home defense 101: (Intruders) Keep a weapon within arms reach, lock yourself into a safe room, barricade the door, dial 911, explain the situation, stay online (as it is being recorded), stand by...if intruder beaches the room...do what you have to do.

Never clear your house to find the intruder.

  • @VuurwapenBlog Clear and concise as always. Remember that people love props!! Keep up the great work.

  • Very good info and like the new format.

  • this works as well... it's all about content, your experience, expertise and communication/presentation skills. You have all four... keep it up.

  • Humm as home defense you just may have missed a few steps. In protecting our homes we forget the "moat approach"we get hung up on caliber and what type. I think it needs to be a several step process that the attacker needs to go through. 1st lights on the outside of the house 2nd home alarm 3rd dog and 4th take them out. This will give you tons of time to "weapon up" formulate a plan of attack or defense and also call for help. after the first 3 are done then choose a gun.

  • @n3qdz but as for me I use a shotgun easier to acquire a target and besides makes a nice defensive weapon during CQB when drawing up on an attacker is too late

  • Comment removed

  • @n3qdz As stated in the description, "A brief video describing some of the characteristics of various firearms that can be used for home defense." Not "An all-inclusive video describing every aspect of home defense."

  • @VuurwapenBlog Yep I just watched it again and missed that part much apologies!

  • @n3qdz No worries

  • Comment removed

  • I prefer the old "action" vids with voice over and factory visits/show&tell.

That said, it's not bad either.

  • As always, great info, great personal opinions. Keep it up.

  • Finally, someone that knows what the hell they're talking about--if it'll go through a person it will go through a wall(s), and higher velocity rifle rounds aren't necessarily the "lawsuit waiting to happen" that many people think they are, assuming you choose the right kind of ammo and put the shots where they need to go. Bird shot is made to kill bird sized game, and human beings are a bit bigger than birds. On the flip side, slugs are overkill for 99% of home defense situations IMO.

  • @wcropp1 Expanding handgun rounds, fragmenting rifle rounds, and buck shot (preferably #1 or 00) is where it's at. Primarily, though, you need to hit what you're aiming for and nothing else. As far as format goes, I like both--perhaps a mixture of the two would be ideal, whether in the same video or otherwise, when appropriate. As long as the information's good. The slow motion footage is great, when applicable. Otherwise, whatever you feel gets the point across best or is easiest to make.

  • I see that you are a great resource and I recommend your stuff in several venues but your affect and tone are so flat that you come off as boring. This was a bit of an issue with the previous format but when the video is primarily you talking to the camera you have to be a little more interesting. I know you are wanting to keep this objective and remove the hype but you leave the impression that you almost don't want to do this.

Show us that you really enjoy this subject.

    Keep 'em coming.

  • My favorite format is whichever one is easiest for you to produce so you can make more videos!

  • Nice woot shirt.

  • @grillsargent09 heh, I wear woot shirts in probably half of my videos.

  • @VuurwapenBlog I never noticed before. As I re-watch some of your videos I see some of them. I think the woot T-shits are hillarious. Nice videos by the way.

  • No matter what format you use, your videos are the cleanest and most informative on the tube. I'd even say your videos are the most ergonomic review videos.

  • The jacket is kinda silly. I always enjoyed the old style. The new one is ok I just like the older style better

  • Good information on firearms is rare on YouTube. Use whatever format you want. Should maybe have mentioned how the different firearms handle indoors. I have used all three as home defense guns and keep going back to a handgun because it is easier to open doors and go into a retention position. Also I can use a separate white light and not point a gun at something I just want to light up.

  • Just a question, what are your thoughts on the 5.45 as a home defense round (since you mentioned it as a carbine caliber)?

  • @acosby792 5.45 is a great home defense round, but I would not use military surplus. You want something that fragments, like a ballistic tip, etc. Hornady makes some good 5.45 for home defense.

  • Content is excellent, though I think the text frames should be on-screen for just a bit longer so that slow people like me can read them completely. And to be honest, I'm not a fan of this new format. I find myself looking at you (as I would someone who is in front of me) and therefore I am not as able to read the text boxes when they pop up on the screen (such as your Protip). A disembodied voice allows me to concentrate my ears on you and my eyes on the equipment .

  • The new format is good, but i like the old style better because its more interesting with the pictures and stuff like that, but again you did an outstanding job like always, keep up the good work.

  • I'm hear to tell you from first hand experience that the pumping action of my 870 did in fact scare off two would be intruders at my house. Of course every situation and outcome will be different. But in my case the I feel that the sound did in fact prevent the break in .

  • good video and good talking points

  • Very good

  • Good shit, this place needs more of it.

  • This isn't bad. Like the old style better, but this is still good. Lose the jacket. lol

  • The new format is as good as the old; the information is excellent as always.

  • golden

  • welp... i miss the opening that is my only issue. A+++ top notch as always.

  • I think you forgot to mention using the Enfield with a bayonet :) Joking aside - very good points. I've also found that people can more quickly become proficient with a carbine than with a pistol or shotgun.

  • Alfred Hitchcock, The Birds? I've driven past the church from the movie a million times.

  • Great content, just technical criticism.. the background is a little busy and the pegboard looks cheesy lol. maybe opt for a solid color. Also, a navy blue T shirt with a black blazer?!? Consult a female on wardrobe :)

  • The format is great, thanks for posting

  • Both styles are fine to me, most of us watch your videos for the content anyways. I will say that if you do decide to use this format more often you should consider delaying the "fade out" after you've made a point just a second. The immediate fade out makes it seem like you're racing it to make your point.

  • New format is great!

  • no lightning? i like older style better, but will keep watching.

  • hitchcock

  • Nice blazer.

  • Mix it up, do whatever suits the requirements of the gear being reviewed, or discussed. I don't need flashly dashy, I don't mind it either. I really like the professional lighting in this video. I however do understand that the nicer or cleaner the presentation the more time it takes to set everything up and the longer it takes to edit properly. If this new style takes up more of your time than before, and that translates into less detailed reports, than I choose old school.

  • @jrygrim so all in all, I'm hear for your input, not how well you light a room or look in a suit. It's your brain i want to pick.

  • @jrygrim This format takes about 45 minutes of shooting & editing per minute of video to produce, compared to 2-2.5 hours for the old format.

  • @VuurwapenBlog Then do it this way, as it is easier on you and allows you more T&E time.

  • Just don't make videos like that shill D-bag Tom from Weapons Education.

  • @wolvee123 Unfortunately, I don't have time to watch or comment on other YouTube videos...I think this has given some people the impression that I am a snob...I just don't have the time.

  • @wolvee123 Well, keep doing what you're doing then. You're never gong to please everyone. You have a good channel and I enjoy it.

  • @wolvee123 They aren't even in the same league. Tom's videos can be even more of a drag than Nutnfancy's. Vuurwapenblog always manages to say everything that needs to be said in as short a time as possible and doesn't seem to be on here just to hear himself talk.

  • I honestly can't decide. I like both formats equally. They're two very different styles, but are both top quality work. I will be subscribed to this channel regardless of which format you choose... easily one of the most valuable channels I have come across - if not THE most.

  • I like it. Broken up well and shows the points you want to make in a timely manor yet being effect in doing so.

  • This vid looks blurrier than your previous videos even on 720p. Outstanding content as always, short yet to the point!

  • @Zenmagine I think I was slightly out of focus - the weapons are sharp when I bring them up - operator error.

  • I don't mind which format you use. You clearly know your stuff and I will watch your videos no matter what.

  • @ThePechanator2 Thanks!

  • @ThePechanator2 I second that
