This song slightly makes me think of a Silent Hill game, just slightly.... A sad moment, or especially when your running through a creepy town in the fog....
Especially from 0:20 to 1:05, if this song was a little more depressing it would be a perfect soundtrack.
damn, I cant believe so many people like this song. It is great though. The commercial with the while lady is the best. She stares down the wind up doll!! lol I LOVE this tune
Why was this song put to a depression commercial? This song could have been used for something SO much better. I felt like a dork looking this up but this composition is SICK.
@AarenCreed Personally, I like that it was used for a depression commercial because it was perfectly used to show that things can get better even if you don't think things will. Plus, a lot of people were able to hear it since it was used in a nation-wide commercial.
I won't lie, I felt pretty lame looking up the background music to a commercial, but then I saw all these other people. And I realize, the music is really as good as I think. Cool beans.
This composition is so beautiful. Love to watch the commercial and listen to the music although I do not take the meds. Great job and thanks for posting.
This song was written by Gregg Fine for Hidden Tiger Productions. It was written specifically for Pristiq. I was going through a particularly difficult period in my life when I first saw the commercial and heard the song. The song immediately struck me and I found it for free download on the Pristiq website. I'm over that period now and my life is wonderful once again. I just love the mellowness and compositional beauty of this song. Thanks Pristiq! Umm... for the song. Didn't need the meds.
Also we may not take into account the psychological process that are involved when we remember things asociated with sounds. Emotions, differing musical tastes and experiences, and so many other things can affect how we percieve music.
And come on, even children know that everyone sees something different when you look at clouds. I see a rabbit, and i think of chocolate while certain babies might start crying. The point is, although we may sense the same things, we perceive them differently.
When I'm not watching sitcoms and adult swim, I'll read all your comments and see where this argument started.
In the mean time, most of you are probably idiots. Especially the ones who isntantly apply that insult to themselves and gets mad ;). There are probably infinite numbers of reasons things sound different to people; understand different people hear higher frequencies (young ones mostly).
@chefgreg2010 My friend y would this song make u feel sad when it actually should make u feel hope just like the meds suppose to do for ppl who r affected by depression
@mike22302, perhaps the better thing for "laypersons" to say is: "this song reminds me of that song." I try to say that usually because it shows that I take responsibility for how a song *sounds* to me instead of arguing about how a song *objectively* sounds. Even though you think I don't know music (I don't have a music degree, but I appreciate music and I'm not dull-minded), I do recognize that all songs technically have similarities to each other anyway because it's all music. Good day.
@QueenAnime, you're simply deluded. I have degrees in music, and the similarities don't pass the scale level. Sorry, you just don't know music. Besides, why compare a beautiful quiet piece with a schizoid pot-boiler song from a lazy composer like Joel.
@mike22302 Perhaps "laypersons" see similarities b/w the songs while the more musically-inclined don't. (The noticeable parts: the little xylophone-type sound in this song and the beginning of the hook of "WDSTF") At the same time, saying "I have music degrees, so you're wrong" is not a very good argument. And it's rather uncouth to call me "deluded" and make assumptions simply b/c you disagree with me. I respect your opinions, but neither song is more *objectively* beautiful. Good day.
Really like the full version of this. It's the perfect uplifting muzak/background song, and the part from 1:06 to 1:35 reminds me of some of those old instrumental records.
@mike22302 Yes, this person doesn't have an ear for music and yet there are others who have posted who have noticed the same similarities. I'm sorry, but if you can't see any similarities between this and "We Didn't Start The Fire," you are either not familiar with that pop song or you don't have an ear for music yourself.

I thought Craig Armstrong did this song - but apparently it was done by Gregg Fine. Great song! It's amazing how when I was a kid/teen in the 70's and 80's we learned about new music from AM/FM radio, and at record stores. Now, it's YouTube, MySpace, iTunes, and TV commercials! So....Madison Ave dictates future stars - I guess things haven't changed that much..

This was brilliant! Whoever thought to make peaceful sounding music in a time when the world is lacking peaceful sounding music in their commercials. Just Brilliance! Some marketing executive was doing his/her job exceptionally well. They thought let's put some good commercial music like they did in the 1980s. I'm sold. They got me for sure! LOL I love this tune. Classic already.
you are so right but those suffering with depression globally, never have peace not even when listening to this song. help me pray for people suffering with depression globally.
@mikeellerbeck The music is very well done I agree. The wind-up doll and the womans facial expression are kind of funny, which is a flaw that obviously gives the commercial some negative stigma. In general I think the commercial is well done, but like I posted on another video, some of the flaws of the commercial give mental illness a negative stigma.

Unfortunately, I can't enjoy this because the commercial is so fucking stupid that I always think about it when I hear this song.
