I appreciate your time in teaching face rigging, but there are just too many steps to go through to get to the promised land. There has to be a more simple way to do what you just showed us, there got to be a software that makes facial expression a lot fast and easier to learn
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I agree. It is a mission to get, what seems like, such a simple result.
I know that there are plugin's for LightWave which allow easier rigs which i suggest you research. Also there are other pieces of software dedicated purely to facial rigging like face robot, which is worth checking out also.
I just thought id share a surefire way of getting it to work. If you do find another way please let me know.
Perfect tutorial. Rigging is one thing, rigging with controls is another. My school doesn't teach that or really know much about it. I wish that when they were teaching rigging they would at least mention rig controls. I'm working on a tutorial now so when I finish it I'll link you video as a reference. Thanks man!
im glad you asked, i am having troubles with cloth simulation.. such as on a human. military clothing to be exacted.. trying to create a g.i. joe cartoon. i could use all the help in the world because im a beginner at this using 8.5. thanks again frank
Depends on the animation type and how you want it to move. Morph targets are a good way to get specific results.
Cloth simulations that are attached to characters tend to give a lot of unwanted results with collisions(pieces passing through each other). But if you want to go that path, using selection sets on the cloth and nulls for collision objects is probably the way to go. You can find a bunch of tuts on these things at the NewTek Website.
thanks for posting this, and taking your time for record it and all, great stuff!
