@wellowvids I HAVE NEVER HEARD A PAIR OF GROWLERS AS LOUD AS THIS BEFORE!!!!!!!! Well, done there mate!!! For uploading this video. I will keep a vigal eye on your uploads. I absolutely love these beasts and for the Lime Stone in the hoppers, 24 is a tromendous amount of weight to pulled especaily double headed! These things must growl at around about 6000 decibels each. "My favourite locomotive of all time!
Fantastic memories!! I'm the guy who wrote the book on the history of the ICI hoppers and the services. Sadly I couldn't afford a camcorder in those days. So this clip plus your others have gone straight into my favourites list. Cheers Paul
Hi, the book is called 'An Illustrated History of the ICI Hopper Wagons' and it was published in 2002 by Cheona Publications. You should be able to get copies from Ian Allen, not sure if all shops still have stocks, but Manchester did have some until recently or I have some copies left. If you want, contact me off site for more info. Cheers Paul
The last time I saw industral steam was here; 2 BR 9F 2-10-0s hauling a limestone train. That would be, oh, 1967, I would think. The locomotives were really working.
that a lot of weight to pull and stop.

A Class 66 might move a bigger train but there is nothing like the sound of an EE Type 3 at a slow roar like this. Superb video.

Total Class 37 territory is Peak Forest. Sheds wont even hack 15 years on it before destroying themselves.

I look forward to seeing them. It is one place I never got round to going to till it was too late, even though I went to Buxton many times.
