@howarethingsindenver It's the ESP deactivation/failure light. He'll have disabled the ESP system on the car, that's why it is on. It'll go off when he pushes the button again or restarts the car.

The ESP is located in the RPM gauge, right under "1000" The "check engine" light is located between the RPM gauge and speed indicator just above the info display. Look again :) (or correct me:))

thats not an overheating problem the icon is for the injection system and because its a TDI so a diesel with 4th generation common rail technology its very sensitive to bad quality fuel, and in Russia(not only) they like to mix water into the fuel at gas stations, so they can steal some fuel, on over 1000bar pressure in the common rail system the hydrogen in the water starts to blow up, the sensors of the Audi know that, thats why there is a warn ikon, simply bad quality diesel fuel.
