Just want everyone to know that Alesis trigger does NOT work with mesh heads. i've tried it with ever single configuration. It gives double triggers every time!!!! unless u set the retrigger so high that it feels unatural to play
I'm using the IO with a complete A2E conversion using DIY solar screen heads. If youre having trouble with double trig you might rework your design if this is a DIY edrum (cone/trigger/mounts etc.) Make sure you aren't following a design specific to Roland's drum modules! Alesis likes smaller piezos (20-27mm), and larger cone contact to the mesh and the piezo to TRS jacks are wired opposite of Roland's. Also, two layers of mesh are often recommended for double triggering issues.
We already had the bin, but I'd estimate around £10-15 for one of those (probably cheaper if you know where to look), the plywood was about £7 for a sheet, and the boxes of screws, nuts, and washers were a few pounds each. The mesh, around £4 for a huge sheet. Around £25-30 total I guess, with enough left overs to make the other drums too. I'll include some more accurate figures when I demo the kit.
So far the results have been great, it's really responsive and works great with the Alesis!
Yeah I didn't really mess with the settings much when I was testing it there. Probably could have got a better dynamic range out of it if I had. I'll try your suggestions though and see if they help.
As for the drum itself, it's been reskinned with a finer mesh and had some foam padding added to the inner rim which has made quite a difference. We've also finished building a complete kit based on this drum, so I'll be posting a video soon demonstrating that. :-)

You could turn a profit with it.
Sell it for fifty, make it with thirty.

This is pretty sweet... how much did this cost and how did the full kit turn out?

@taids where did you get the mesh then?

I like the look of the wood hoops! Props for that.
I happen to love Addictive Drums. I will add some videos for it soon, as well.
Is it me, or does the drum/settings seem really hot for the drum? I would try using LG1 or SP1 for the Velocity Curve in the Trigger Io.
Looking forward to more!
