Wait a minute, Lesnar is a still a sideshow. Randy Couture is 45 years old. Prior to his loss against Lesnar he had lost 4 out of the previous 10 fights--all most all of them by KO or TKO. I think his fight against MIR (which he lost) is a good model of what to expect when he fights people who are close in age and not washed-up (like Herring). I'd love to see Lesnar do well and be the best, but I'm very skeptical. Plus, do they test for steroids?!?? Guess not. Shouldn't they?!?!

The fight with Mir really isn't a great indication, Lesnar was man-handling him the entire fight until he stood up when he was in Franks guard and got his foot caught. I would love to see these two go at it again with a more experienced, smarter Lesnar.

the fact is, randy has often been considered an underdog in his fights, and if you know anything about his career, you know what usually happens when he's the underdog.
I agree with the last post. Lesnar is a perfect physical specimen, but the whole attraction of MMA is watching perfect specimens get their asses beat by skilled mixed martial artists. Lesnar is training with Sean Sherk (another perfect physical specimen), and remember how B.J. Penn dominated Sherk? This is still a dangerous fight for Couture because Lesnar is bigger, heavier, younger, and stronger - but Couture is hard core (badder than your Dad). Couture will break Lesnar's will to fight.
You make a valid point about weight, but Couture did recently beat Tim Sylvia (263 lbs.) and Gabriel Gonzaga (256 lbs.). It will definitely be a great fight. I am about to order it.
couture is too experienced, putting lesnar against couture so soon is like putting a cub agains a lion. lesnar wont stand a chance. if lesnar had a few more matches to gain some more experience, he mite have a chance against couture..but imo against couture in his fourth match is a little too much too soon.

Look. There is no question that Brock is freakishly strong with sound wrestling ability. However, guys like this don't fare well in mma. Frank Mir already exposed him. The learning curve is too steep at this point in his career, and sheer size and brute force rarely if ever win championships. As Belfort said after beating Tank Abbott, "the lion is the king of the jungle, not the elephant". Lesnar is a side show, but a fun one for now at least.
I must say he's got an amazing training camp. These are all top notch excersises with a lot of emphasis on speed and explosiveness. Speed plus power plus being in your prime and in the best shape of your life..Couture is the best UFC Heavy weight of all time..This is going to be the biggest test of Coutures career and if he pulls this off he will be more than a legend.

I'm not saying it's not a win obviously. IDK how you came to that conclusion. I know a win is all that matters, but if the two go at it again, I don't think it will go down quite the same way. Look at GSP, first time he faced Matt Hughes, he cracked under pressure. Next time, he annihilated him. What I'm saying is, yes a win is a win, but it doesn't necessarily set the tone for how the other fights will play out. This fight is over, let's see them go at it again.

I think Fedor or Arlovski would probably beat Lesnar. I would say Mir/Noguera/Gonzaga would have a 50/50 chance. But purely due to his dedication I think Lesnar will eventually become unbeatable. Lesnar vs the Fedor/Arlovski winner at the end of 2010 if he gets passed Mir for me.

Wait a minute, Lesnar is a still a sideshow. Randy Couture is 45 years old. Prior to his loss against Lesnar he had lost 4 out of the previous 10 fights--all most all of them by KO or TKO. I think his fight against MIR (which he lost) is a good model of what to expect when he fights people who are close in age and not washed-up (like Herring). I'd love to see Lesnar do well and be the best, but I'm very skeptical. Plus, do they test for steroids?!?? Guess not. Shouldn't they?!?!

They just came back with the results. Neither Lesnar nor Couture came back positive.
The fight with Mir really isn't a great indication, Lesnar was man-handling him the entire fight until he stood up when he was in Franks guard and got his foot caught. I would love to see these two go at it again with a more experienced, smarter Lesnar.

Although I highly disagree with you statement that 16-8 or Randy is a joke(I mean c'mon, the guy is a legend in MMA. Anybody that can come in at 34 and be as sucessful as him is unreal), I will say that Randy tends to have most of his trouble going up bigger guys that are skilled in grappling like Josh Barnett. It is going to be interesting to see his game plan against Brock as he is clearly the underdog, but then again he has made a career of being the underdog and exceeding expectations.

I agree with the last post. Lesnar is a perfect physical specimen, but the whole attraction of MMA is watching perfect specimens get their asses beat by skilled mixed martial artists. Lesnar is training with Sean Sherk (another perfect physical specimen), and remember how B.J. Penn dominated Sherk? This is still a dangerous fight for Couture because Lesnar is bigger, heavier, younger, and stronger - but Couture is hard core (badder than your Dad). Couture will break Lesnar's will to fight.

Look. There is no question that Brock is freakishly strong with sound wrestling ability. However, guys like this don't fare well in mma. Frank Mir already exposed him. The learning curve is too steep at this point in his career, and sheer size and brute force rarely if ever win championships. As Belfort said after beating Tank Abbott, "the lion is the king of the jungle, not the elephant". Lesnar is a side show, but a fun one for now at least.

I must say he's got an amazing training camp. These are all top notch excersises with a lot of emphasis on speed and explosiveness. Speed plus power plus being in your prime and in the best shape of your life..Couture is the best UFC Heavy weight of all time..This is going to be the biggest test of Coutures career and if he pulls this off he will be more than a legend.

There is no question this will be a huge test for Randy....as usual. If Brock won I wouldn't be that suprised really. He is a monster and seems to be a quick learner. Plus he moves like a middle weight...but Randy is the man. He's still in great shape. Randy can take a beating and come back. He has a iron will...he won't give up unless you knock him out. Believe it or not, Brock's pure aggression could be a disadvantage in this fight. If he spends all his time training, that means he doesn't have much time left to develop his mind. If Randy can withstand the initial barrage that Brock is going to come with, then it's possible he can outsmart him. No predictions. I'd rather wait and see with an open mind. Hope it will be a great fight
