  • Ah, my all time favourite recording. And Willemijn is the best Elphaba ever. Ever. And helped me learn two new languages. Go Wicked Germany! (Quite sad it's closing later this year, isn't it?)Ev

  • @twilightfan1231000 Fortunately a Netherlands production is in the works, and Willemijn will be there. Time for yet another language maybe?

  • @Shatnerpossum Dutch is already in the works for me! :) And I can't wait, I might be able to see the first Dutch preview if I can get the tickets in time. :D

  • To me, these two voices are exactly how I have always imagined they should sound for the characters, but I've never come across anyone anywhere near as close as these two have come. Beautiful. :)

  • @musikmadchen3 ä, ö , ü , ß , you're welcome! :P

  • Jana ist gut, aber Ich mag Lucy so viel mehr! Und dank Google Translator ich euch sprechen kann!

  • Elphaba ist einfach toll, ich liebe diese Stimme ♥

And I like that all these english speaking people like this version, too :)

  • Their voices are beautiful. I prefer this to the OBC recording :P.

  • lol 0:33

  • gorgeous voices! Just pretty hilarious to hear it in German, when I'm only used to English.

  • 3:21 LOLOLOLOL

  • das heißt "fühl" nicht "fuhl" :)

  • Sorry about that, my keyboard lacks the proper characters.

  • @Shatnerpossum

You could just write it "fuehl" since "ue" is another way of writing ü.

Same goes for ae and oe instead of ä and ö :)

  • @OukaHikari

I didn't know that one year ago when I made this. Since then I've made quite a few more German friends.

  • @Shatnerpossum What I do to get the proper characters is type what I want to say in MS Word and insert the correct characters, then cutting it and pasting it into wherever I want to type it. Also, I think there's some combination of keys that can insert these characters, but I'm not sure what they are.

  • funny N cool in German!!

    = D

  • Wicked war mein erstes Musical. Ich bi n froh darüber. So hab ich Lust auf mehr :)

  • @Butzemann2 gibt kaum bessere;)

  • Wicked war mein erstes Musical! Ich bin froh, dass ich so einen guten Einsteg getroffen hab.

  • This is my favorite song from the show and it sound 10X better in German haha

  • year, right, german rocks :)

    xD

    the song is soo funny.

    greats from germany :D

  • Ich war in der vorstellung es war wunderbar (=

  • Its a great musical in any language and theater, but this is a special one. The absolute best.

  • After I have belonged the English version I also found this (=

  • It sounds so beautiful in German.

  • It really does. Many people don't think of German as a beautiful language, but so many wonderful operas were written in German.

  • Her laugh in the end is sooo evil

like a ... wicked witch XD

    love thier voices!

  • @Thunderbolt333

haha, yes I love her laugh in the end, too^^

And I would laugh like her if I get Glinda as my roommate ;D

  • is the first picture the japanese cast?

    looks like^^

  • Yes, it is.

  • GRAUEN!! doo-da-doo-da-doo-da GRAUEN! Even in German where I don't know a word, it still manages to be catchy. That's Wicked for ya. ja! ;)

  • Grauen! Nacktes, abgrundtiefes Grauen!

    You'll catch on quickly!

  • Wow, out of all the languages I've listened

to on youtube, I think German is the one th

at starts to sound the clearest when it

    comes to dialect the quickest.

  • Jeg elsker denne sangen... vil også høre en norsk versjon... xD

  • I'm glad to hear you like it.

  • Waaay too awesome.... x3333333

  • Ist (very) gut... Don't speak german but love this! Very addictive!

  • You'll find the cd is a great assistant to learning German!

  • Thanks! On the way to HMV now! :)

  • Have fun!

  • The Japanese version helped me remember the Japanese I taught myself. XD

Um, I hate to ask, as I would gladly pay for it, if I had the chance, but importing to the States is rather tedious. Is there any way I could convince you to send me the CD? If so, just shoot me a message on here. :)

BTW, Over the Hedge was awesome. Ozzy and Heather were my two favorites. XD

  • Over the Hedge is way cool for being 3D

I don't even have kids and went to see th-

    at one in the theatre.

  • Das ist ein gutes Lied.

  • Ja, ist super.

  • *lol*

    geil....

  • Nein, böse!

  • I love this musical in German as well as in English. Willemijns voice is just amazing. And the laughing of Willemijn at the end of this song is so cool.

Thanks for posting it. And by the way if you don't have "ä" or "ü" just write "ae" or "ue". This has the same meaning and is also correct. Is no offense only a tip.

  • Yes, I suppose that would work.

I love that laugh as well.

  • omg i LOVE that laugh, I so wish it was in the American version.

  • @Jacasch

    yeah,i think you're right,her laugh is great :)

  • Hello, l love that you have posted this!! I've been trying to buy the German CD, but can't find it anywhere....can you help? Can I get a copy? My girlfriends OMA would would love it. Please help if you can!

  • what is that thing @ 2:44?

  • Hmmm? What thing?

  • that thing among the students. it looks like a Goat-child.

  • I think thats just some Animal porter or servant, he pops up a few times early on.

  • It's a goat and he's the history teacher until he gets fired.

  • No, you're talking about Dr. Dillamond. This is a different character, a very minor one.

  • or killed in the novel. :)

  • I love how this sounds. Scherkaik (which is Lucy Scherer and Willemijn Verkaik) are amazing! Is there a german cast recording of Wicked on cd?

  • do you mean if theres a german version of the wicked cd? if its this what you want to know i can tell you: yes there is :) "wicked- die hexen von oz" (ensemble palladium theater stuttgart)

    I love this cd ^^

  • This is a great song for German. It's a pretty agro sounding language even in the most innocent of conversations(though it can be beautiful) so it works so well with the whole loathing thing. "Grauen da da da da da da grauen". In case you can't tell, that's all I can actually remember from that. Much harder than Frei und Schwerlos.

  • Yes, its a mouthful. If you thought Galinda's description was something in English, in German? Whew. You can actually find the lyrics in German out there. Just search the German title lyrics.

  • Everything gets longer auf Deutsch.

  • Ja!

  • awesome :D

if they made an italian one i would have some idea because i speak english and italian is my seccond language except im not fluent (no where near). But i would have some idea. however it would be hard to write italian lyrics so they could have the singing in english and have subtitles like in operas. Or half english half italian like the japanese one.

  • Some things never translate entirely, but the translators work wonders. I'd give it a chance.

  • it's not translating the lyrics that's a problem, they could always write new lyrics. And that IS the problem. Italian has so many syllables it would be hard to find lyrics that fit. But yeah they could give it a go but it wont be easy. But then again it's not easy for ANY foreign language. :P

  • Well, since Italy was able to crank out some great opera, I'd think they could translate "Wicked."

  • schönes lied :)

  • Ja!

  • "unusually and exceedingly peculiar and all together quite impossible to describe" sounds hillarious. but not as hillarious as "blonde"

  • Yes indeed, and don't you just love Willemijn's laugh at the end?

  • yeah it's so cute :P

  • Thanks! I have one Japanese video that I finished, but youtube won't seem to upload it. Its very annoying.

I've actually been traveling lately, so don't expect any new releases for a while!

  • Man, seriously. I'm falling in love with it. I kind of prefer listening and watching when I can't understand everything being said, because I'm watching more closely and noticing other things. Loving it! I'm going to learn all the songs in German too, then I'll be bi-lingual Wicked. Yey!!

  • Great! Wicked World Domination!

  • I love Elphaba's laugh at the end! That was great!! Thank you so much for uploading!

  • omg, i love that part! ♥ ( 0:30 )

G:"Gewöhnlich und beispiellos verwunderlich so unvorstellbar unbeschreiblich und sonderbar.."

    E:"BLOND!"

  • Oh i mean "Gewöhnungsbedürftig" and not "Gewöhnlich". :]

  • Haha I love how your like "oh i mean ..." like its soo simple! To me, I don't know German, it looks so complicated I wouldn't even see or notice the difference!! haha.

  • As if it wasn't funny enough in English!

  • It's like a new song. I love both versions now. I'm german and I only saw the american Musical but the songs are great in both languages.

  • Yes. This is the beauty of Wicked. The story is compelling and the songs are fun to anyone in the world. In time Wicked will become a world favorite.

  • I'm sure it will, I mean: I'm addicted already, I don't care which language I hear it.

  • Heh heh...I know that feeling!

  • I've heard there will also be a Dutch version of Wicked, in 2009 or 2010. The best news: Willemijn Verkaik would be Elphie (as I heard, I don't know if it is sure...). But she is originally Dutch, so it could be possible!

    :D

  • Yes, I have also heard this. I can also say there will be a Mexican production, and possibly even a French one in the future.

  • I got bored once last year and translated DG into French....Should I send it to Stephen Schwartz? XD

  • LOL, it can only help!

  • would be cool to see it in french or dutch too. I know some french but no dutch or ger-

man, I can make out the words to dutch and

german pretty clearly even though I don't

    know what they mean.

  • they are making a dutch one. in the netherlands.

  • really?! :D:D yeah!!! happiness in here...I'm waiting for a dutch one for a long long time. but I wanna see the german one too:P

  • I love this song! It's so weird in German, i know a few words cos of learning it at school and because i know the song anyway lol. Cool!

  • I'm glad you enjoyed! I also have many other songs in German. Feel free to check them out.

  • its the ausssie again!

i am in love with the german cast. there voices are just so pure!

i am of italian descendant and i wish they did a wicked in italian. i would lovve it!

    hehehehe

check out Amanda Harrison (aus elphie) sinsing no good deed, wiz and i and defying gravity. she is amazing!!!!!

    these girls are amazing too!!

(ps thanks for telling me u had other vids of german:))

  • Ist das nicht wundervoll?

And though its not Italian, there will be a Mexican production. Estoy desafio gravedad? 0_o

If you'd send some good links I'd love to hear some of the Aussie cast. I love the accents, so I have a good feeling...

  • They're accents aren't anything special. They're just speaking american as they've been told. Can you imagine the wicked witch being australian? There'd be some inconsistancies between it and the film. "Bloody hell, Elphaba. Why'd you go blowing your bloody top?"

A radio station got the two witches (actors) to do a bogan version of what is this feeling. search "bogan what is this feeling". For interviews with them search "an audience with the cast of wicked".

  • Yes, I figured. Humor is occasionally called for.

Send me a link to that?

  • haha i just watched that, so hilarious!

    amanda and lucy are sensational!

  • I didn't say they weren't any good. From what I've seen, they're great it's just that their accents are nothing special.

  • I REALLY want to see this in Stuttgart!

I reckon Willemijn and Lucy should come a do a run in London. Gosh if they could! It would be amazing!

I like the "Unusually and exceedingly peculiar" bit. its a right mouthful.

love this :) This Cast is one of my faves.

    Willemijn's laugh is adorable!

  • Well, you are considerably closer than I am.

And Willemijn's laugh is great, isn't it?

  • I've seen it... and if I wouldn't live in Germany, I'll go there. IT's so awesome I don't find the right words.

  • I am living in Germany but stuttgart ist still too far away for me... I hope that it comes after stuttgart in the north of germany!

  • OMIGOD I LOVE THIS!!! i love how Willemijn says 'blonde' and how she laughs! and lucy's little squeal! lol. i wanna go to germany JUST to see this

  • LOL. I loved that two. She sounds so angry when she says it! Its perfect. I also love that laughter. It provides a pretty good context for the "boo" and scream. And I would LOVE to see it on in Stuttgart too!
