"Everything else in this country gets sold with people shooting each other behind it." "Why can't you just sell the shit and walk the fuck away." Because the product that they sell is illegal and therefore not protected by contract and law.
What Bunk and McNulty did wasn't no lie, this happens all the time, and people DO lose their mothers/fathers/kids to this gutter trash. DeAngelo probably wasn't that stupid, he probably just imagined how many times this HAS happened, and gave in, knowing the game was diseased, and NO amount of money was worth the harsh reality of knowing you've just orphaned 3 to 4 kids because your word has killed their hard working, church go-ing father.
@leumasnehpets DeAngelo did buy into McNulty and Bunks story, his conversation with Avon at the family gathering reveals this. And Bunk and McNulty's story was all about sensationalizing what happened as much as possible by painting this man as a saint with three dependent children. Stuff like this does happen, but they were more interested in manipulating DeAngelo.
"Why can't you sell the shit and walk the fuck away". If drug dealers did this, I think no one would even give a fuck. Soon as you start dropping bodies, cops notice.
Wasn't made for that life. He was not a bitch to me. He was a regular human being who was forced by his family into a life of crime. He never wanted it and he is not a bitch because of that. He was normal.
WHY GET IN THE GAME IF YOU KNOW YOUR NOT READY FOR THE CONSEQUENCES, YOU SEE AFTER ALL THAT INTERROGATING ONCE THEY LEFT THE OFFICE THEY STARTED JOKING AND LAUGHING, NEVER TRUST THEM DEVILS.........
@hakimshakour Some questions if you're familiar with the rest of the series: Did Namond chose to get in the game in season 4? Think about what you know about Briana. Do you really think D'Angelo's decision to become a drug dealer was an informed choice?
Yes, the cops are manipulating D'Angelo, because they see he has a conscience and it's an angle they can work to solve a murder. The joking belies their vanity, but that's nothing too sinister, IMO. OTOH, look at how Briana, et al manipulate him.
the world will always have sopranos, Stringers, Marlos... even Ronald Regans.... its all a game and these players hold Full houses every hand :(... sad but nothing will get better
I think it really hit him how Mcnulty's ponderings at 2:00 completely match his own. He also thinks all the bullshit, murder, and double crosses aren't needed.
yea D had a good heart, but in da business he was in that wasnt a good thing!!! boy was a victim of his own goodness!! and beeing good is good if you are regualer people ordoing charity work not if you are a project hoodlum!!! so that mean in his world he was a loser and paid da price for it

@IAMtheNewWorldOrder Fuck that D was being a dumbass here. Everybody knows wheen you're in a police interrogation room, after you ask for your lawyer, you don't say shit or do shit until he gets there. End of story. Anything you say after that can be implicated against you.
No, that's totally true. He shouldn't have said shit. But I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the fact that he has empathy & compassion, and a conscience. But other people don't. And some see empathy, compassion & conscience as a weakness. It's only a weakness in a weak man's world, because true weakness is selfishness.
@IAMtheNewWorldOrder I hear what you're saying and in most cases that's true. But in the game that they're in, empathy and compassion can be your downfall. There isn't a place for that in the drug business. If anything, there really isn't a place for it in any line of work that involves major competition. Do people on wall street show compassion? I mean if literally everybody did that would be one thing. But all it takes is someone with more ambition than the rest and that goes out the window.
Though, as Eradicus said, D'Angelo had a good heart (that he did; one of the very few sympathetic characters in the drug trade of The Wire), he was submissive to the will of his uncle Avon and the rest of the primary figures of authority (whether they be the Barksdale gang, Levy, or the cops themselves). The only reason he was brought in for Gant's death was because he allowed himself to be.
D'Angelo was soft. Should've never been in the game. But cause his Uncle(Avon) was a shotcaller, he had to be fierce. He just wasn't cut out for the game Having a good heart is what got him killed
My compliments to the actor who portrayed D'Angelo. He's 1 of the few actors that has ever made me FEEL a scene while watching it:D'Angelo's guilt & remorse here almost makes you forget he's the bad guy.Its a shame that we have'nt seen more of him over the years.
@tahthedon that was a great slap, really shows who is in charge :-) The lawyer works for their interest and they need him. I doubt they really care about a soft slap across the head.
Excellent interview technique. First establish a repore' with the subject inject in the conversation something we can all relate to. Then shift the blame or create a reason for the action (It was the victim's fault). Once your suspect crosses the line it's hand cuffs and court supp's. Sorry can't tell you what the line is. Have a nice day folks and be safe out there.
I hate Levy in The Wire. the only Jewish character in the show is a snide, mofo'ing lawyer. Ain't right..
