Yes, for $7,000 you could get a Glidecam, absolutley beautifuly smooth and a steady cam for $700, this at least may be ok for some lighter work and it cost bugger all, perhaps some lead weights hanging under it will fix the movement.

Ummm ,not very steady. Search the merlin steady cam to see what you should be aiming for
