No... Rune's right about the pipe thing, it does work, but it doesn't necessarily make your lap faster

You can't jump in mkdd at all... and driving inside the pipes is slower.

but there is a cheat that:

after the 3 pipes in the corner on the left side if you race uphill there with a shroom, the computer thinks that you fell from the last ramp. then you spawn meters for the finish....saw it somewhere on the internet can't remember anymore.....i'll post it when i find it;)

How do you race staff ghosts?

You have to get a certain circuit time... It's really hard, though... For example, you have to get 2:15 or faster on DK Mountain to get the staff ghost. My fastest on DK Mountain is 2:03, so I unlocked it.
