  • why "arrow display" as option to right screen not available ?

  • Nice info. Thank you!!!

  • What's with the screehing noise!! The BMW 328i has a pleasant charm.

  • 2011 Lexus RX350 and RX450 have the most simple yet sophisticated system that is much better.

  • @gobeavers135246 Thank you for that valuable information. Unfortunately, in order to enjoy the "simple yet sophisticated system", one would have to go through the agony of driving a Lexus.

  • @kevinkmiller yeah

  • @kevinkmiller lmaoo

  • @gobeavers135246 lexus' are made for old ppl

  • How do you know what version iDrive you have?

  • How did u updated it? (We've got the 525d 2005)

    PLS help me....

  • @fehmihan64 Just Go to the nearest BMW service center and tell them to upgrade the iDrive firmware.i did the same for my 2010 320d here in india

  • just got this car fully loaded.. it has soo many features!

  • this looks awfully complicated compared to merc's one

  • that is an amazing video. thanks man, cant wait to turn 16 and get my 335i :P

  • thank u for shareing this video very informative :0)

  • Great video man, thanks for uploading it. I was curious though, I noticed you had Logic 7 in your 335i. Any impressions of it? I also noticed you had some Paul Wall in there, how does the Logic 7 bass sound on those tracks?

  • I used to sell BMW's. I had past customers come in and say "yes, it's a little complicated - but you can drive across the country w/o touching it". "I love it". "I really love it". Remember, if you took at older cars, you will see there is tons of stuff you can't adjust. The iDrive let's you. For example, you can adjust where the intesnsity of the heat goes in your seats. How cool is that. You also could, like, read the owners manual.

  • I agree, before I bought my 7-Series I wouldn't say I was hesitant about iDrive because I love technology but I was more so concerned with how much iDrive played intricacy in every day functions.

All my concerns were unfounded. iDrive is amazing and after about 2 weeks of consistent use you wonder how you could ever go back to another way of using a car. I think the hate comes from butthurt Mercedes "command" owners.(bleh) but more so justified old conservative BMW buyers. Ah well, I love it.

  • How does this work with iPod Integration?

  • Can you chose from different ecu maps like in the M3? Performance settings, etc?

  • Dont get me wrong BMW are amazing cars, but iDrive is just to much. Like you said, you dont use climate option, you prefer the dedicated hardware old school nobs and buttons. This sort of millions of options are found in mobile phones and even there they arent needed. A car should be about driving and complete ease of use. iDrive is just to German for its own good. Technically featured but flawed when it comes to real life human use.

  • Then you don't need to buy a luxury vehicle? I'm sorry but statements like this are completely moronic. Luxury manufactures have to do everything they can to introduce new innovative technology to keep their customers and sales up. If you want a car with no luxury features buy the BMW M3 CSL that doesn't even have A/C. For us that want a luxury car that makes us feel like we have the best car in the world, we will stick with BMW/Mercedes.. and even some Cadillacs these days.

  • I dont think technology spells luxury. Is an electronic store luxurious in your eyes? I think there should be a high class stereo system and maybe even a good sat nav option but iDrive is too much imo. Old school Rolls Royces, bentleys, S classes etc ooze class and real luxury, without some over complicated, immediately outdated piece of hardware that makes simple things such as radio channel change a chore. I just think its unnecessary.

  • iDrive needs to be simplified. Its ok for young people like myself, but even I have to play around with it for a while before I understand whats going on. For the majority of middle aged men that will be driving a BMW, the iDrive is completely pointless. They should offer a basic version. An actual hardware keyboard for typing would also be useful. That wheel sucks, and I hated the force feedback, I want to be able to choose options myself not have a machine tell me I cant by force.

  • ffs i cant get it, can u get a non-keyless 335i cabrio?

i want a armoured 1 level I , and if a rober takes it and press that keyless buttom im doomed, in brazil u cant have it like that , or u can block the keyless button?

  • keys have to be within a certain range of the car for the push button start to work, on my e92 M3 its about 3 feet before it will kill out.

  • @nicholashelfrich really? and how far does it have to be from your bentley? fuckin liar

  • lol there are no keyless cars, its just an intelligent key which resembles a card thats it

  • Did u ask something about that ''TI'' icon in the video??

It's actually a trafic bulletins feature...on which it's switched on that time... Well I guess that it's a bit too late now...=P

  • iDrive is the BEST system that I've ever tested!

And they were right. Now Audi and Mercedes develop similar systems!

(watch my video about the Audi A6)

  • Actually Mercedes debuted the Command system before BMW debuted the iDrive system.

  • But BMW introduced the mouse/knob system before the Mercedes did.

  • i bought the e93 m3 with i drive and you get alot more options with it than without it like m drive, and i think it's worth 3grand

  • everyone has had to made haterade everyone who hates it is jealous they cant afford a 50000$+ car like me byee

  • alphaq40, LOL to your Toyotalexus.

  • people who hate idrive are people who usually do not own nor have owned a bmw. It takes 2 days to master the wheel. BTW, go eat a piece of chicken then tap in an address on your lixis nav screen :-)

  • I am not going to be one of those haters... but, I have known several people that own BMWs, and they conceded to ME that Japanese Navigation systems are better. Besides, if you read magazines, all the reviewers despise it. Furthermore, when they first came out with it... there was NO other buttons. It took 4 clicks or so to listen to a preset. Now, there are waaay more buttons and it is better than before.

  • Shut UP you fucking moron, no one cares about your fucking opinion!

  • Someone is a hater. Perhaps you are a BMW iDrive expert, or not.

It seems YOU need some anger management, or some hugs.

  • I admit I love Honda's navigation system found in the 2004+ Acura TL, but the 2008-09 models for BMW have made me all but forget about Acura and Cadillacs new navigation is better than anything I have ever used so to me its moot because Cadillac has really stepped up their game in that department. I won't comment on Lexus because to be honest I found their entire setup extremely shitty and of extreme low quality. I was even more disgusted with the LS series, the new Buicks look nicer. How sad.

  • you are right about the fingerprints. Thats the worst part of touch screens. Thankfully I practice great hygene and wash my hands! I think the new idrives are better though...

  • BMW FTW!

  • that was great...thanks 4 the insight...i live in the UK and im getting my 335 m-sport in march 09...now a least i know a few things. nice 1

  • i have a question for you please , =

do you have an ipod in your car ( or anybody who reads that )

and do you actually see the name of your songs on the screen like it is on the ipod ,, thank you for replying everybody, i have a R32 2008 with NAV and it doesn't display the name of the songs ,so it is a pain to find the songs ,,,, thanks everyone ,, bye

  • yep

    my dad's old 745i did

  • only if your car has a aux plug then the car wont show songs, but if ur car has a plug in where you would put the charger then it would show the songs.

  • do have any enigine setting ex traction control suspension that sort stuff

  • do u have to pay a monthly for a navi?

  • Nope.

  • @ellyistheboss u dnt for any of them

  • manual or autonatic???

  • Auto.

  • oo ight

  • nice comprehensive review in the alloted time...I'm also a fan of the sirius sat - my radio stays locked on shade45 - lol

  • The Hype is Real...lol

  • That NAV looks really dated.

  • nice car question. can you make the maps full screen?

  • Nope. Not in the way that you can in other cars. You can have two maps one taking up 75% of the screen and the other map taking up 25%, both showing the same map.

  • When you have an iDrive its it always with voice control?

  • Yep.

  • theater has surround sound i guess!:s

  • whats the difference between theatre and concert hall?

  • Concert has more staging up front, putting the weight of the vocals and music 5 inches under the rear view mirror. However brass and horns sound better IMO in theatre.

  • Have you had the V27.02.02 update yet? How much does the dealer charge you?

  • No, I still have yet to update my iDrive to v27. The dealer should charge you nothing because they should update it according to the SIB from BMW. If you have the complaints that are in the SIB, then they should update it.

  • For real, because I have a 2003 BMW 745. So they would update it, and what exactly what I notic different if I updated it. Different designs.

  • Overall, everything runs more smoothly, and yes some of the colors are different.

  • u have to have a set destination to get the arrow view function to work;)

  • i dont listen to am either.....lolololol

  • dude i´ve got admit uve got a good taste for cars

  • thx for posting this, really enyoid it.

  • yeah paramus!

  • you can see ur ml benz in black at about 50 seconds :D

  • Indeed you can!

  • What does the 2 bleeps mean when you started the car?

  • I dont know, I think that it just tells you that the car has started. Most cars chime when the engine is turned on except this chime is beautiful as opposed to the chimes in some american cars which get annoying quick!

  • the chime in my 03 745 sounds like BLING BLING check it out on urs to it might be the same

  • The chime you are hearing is part of the iDrive system. Without the iDrive the chime is completely different.

  • Is that chime as you are getting in the car's regular chime? If so, that sounds very nice! :)

  • Quite helpful. Especially how you posted your home address in NJ :P

  • Yeah that was a pretty bad move on my part, DAMN YOU BMW! :)

  • how good is this system in bmw

  • amazing, thanks a lot i wanna get one soon

  • Nice very helpful, i'm going out in a few days with my dad because hes buying a 335i!!!!
