lol I love it! We were there a number of times in the early eighties as teenagers. Only difference was, we use to roam those tunnels and buildings at night with flashlights and bic lighters.

Unfortunetely back then we didnt think about carrying video recording equipment or cameras around. It would have been nice. But we were just out to explore, party and scare the chicks some :P

I remember we use to all carry weapons of some type (not guns of course), but switch blades, walking tall clubs, baseball bats, numchucks. heh who knew what might have been in there. :)

You say you use to go there back in 81, maybe you used the same entrance. Not sure if there were other routes, but im pretty sure we used the same one each time(3 or 4 trips). I cant recall exactly where it was we parked and entered from. All I remember was the area to the buildings were fenced/walled off, but we used an entrance from the other side of the road. We crossed under the road through a tunnel(I think), then a series of other tunnels to get to the buildings. Does that sound familiar?

yes it does. there was a pedestrian tunnel that went under sheldon road. there was a speedway right on the corner of 5 and sheldon, we parked there a few times, and in the industrial park next to it. after a few times, we went in off of hines drive on the opposite side of the property

yeah youd think security was lazy, and sometimes non existant. however it was open in the spring for about 24 hours, and after that they sealed it REALLY well.

as of about a year ago none of the power is on in the building.

i went during the fall, it's really trashed now, graffiti and such. in one of the rooms in the very back building we found a box full of unmailed letters.

they also boarded up all the doors, welded big metal sheets over them, but you can still get through a lot of windows.

the power isnt cut off. its just turned off that main switch gears. a little work and i could have the entire building lit up again, no problem.

i don't actually know which building the letters were in, but it's in the very back of the property. we always park at the living ward church on 6 mile then walk through the woods to the service drive the police patrol (you can see them coming easily) then go between markers 26 and 27 on the electrical pipe thingy.

it's the first building you hit. but you have to walk around the side and climb through a window to get in.

no-not wards. it was Oak point (the actual church was just built some place else in northville back in september)-but the youth group was held where all of those stores were acorss from (i'm not to sure) apartment like buildings, almost right next to NRPH. but we would always pass it when we went.

i suppose the security isn't the greatest, due to how big NRPH is. but there is always somebody there

my sister took me over here when it was still open we went down that back road off of haggerty and we stopped and listened to the pipes and what not. She said she went there in the night and you could see the people staring out the windows and stuff. ive always wanted to go back here my best friends dad is actually the one in charge of tearing it down and hes got maps of the tunnels and the grounds and stuff.
