What i did miss in Defiance was to be able of grabing multiple enemy weapons, like swords, torches, spears or rocks, ad throwing it to kill people and all that good stuff.
Hey, I thought Glyph magic wasn't in this timeline paradox. And who are the Hylden? Okay, maybe I skipped a little too much on some details of the series' story. But can someone explained to me what they are? Are they winged like Janos Audron from Soul Reaver 2?
I dont think much info was released on them, but based on the story told and drawings seen, they were an opposite race equal to that of vampires. Winged creatures. After the war they had fallen and were trapped within the pillars, now mere wreaths, like raziel, who seek to extinguish the world of vampire bloodlines.
I heard another story from another source, the reason why The Ancient Vampires went to war with the Hylden because they wouldn't worship the Vampires' deity The Elder God (the Vampires' Oracle in a sense). The Elder God is the one responsible for giving the instructions to Moebius (Guardian of the Time Pillar) to start the Vampire purging with Mortanius (Guardian of the Death Pillar) his asscocite and begin the Sarafan and manipulating those who defy his petulent Wheel of Fate.
@DevilMalice blood omen 2 explains alot more, people say Blood Omen 2 doesnt make sence, but thats bull, i played it, and the story makes complete sence, it was a younger Kain before he became vampire emperor, he meets the Hyldan and the Late Sarafan.
If by "Glyph magic" you mean the impassible barriers Raziel cant get by, they are spells cast by the mages in the vampire hunting parties. (Even though they stay up even after the mage is dead... whatever)

The barriers made by the Hylden at doorways could very well be Glyph magic. The hylden were the ones who controlled it in BO2 after all.
