I for one am very happy it did not win. When I saw the movie I thought it was okay but really overrated but now I'm Starting to really HATE it. People only went and saw it for the 3D and CGI and not for its really lame story. To me its just dumbing down the planets population by getting people to think good images make up for lazy and awful writing.

Well I'm sure you can live with the heat (being in Florida). Some people here are perhaps as retarded as America's worst, and no one seems to have a decent vocabulary. Also, the 'spot the Aussie' mentality (anyone who isn't white are often shunned, just a legacy from the last generation, i guess) is really starting to piss me off. However the murder rate is pretty low, there are many beautiful areas and people are usually pretty laid back. All in all, life's good here, it could be much worse.

Well, we agree on this one, but at the same time, we disagree. I actually care because The Hurt Locker is supposed to be a "realistic" war-time film, yet you have all these soldiers (current, former, and on-leave) seeing it and saying "It's not like that at all" to a lot of things that happened in that movie. If you have people who live it saying a movie about it is entirely wrong, IMO, that's not a movie that deserves to win a Best Picture award.

Awards shows ARE pointless, though.

The last movie of James Cameron, Titanic really used to piss me off, with people saying they went to the movie 8-9 times. And it was a really overrated movie, just because it costed 300 M dollars. JC likes to spend a lot of money to a film for no good reason. Therefore Avatar is way less annoying to me, cause at least it's 1000 times better than Titanic (in my opinion).

I've seen the trailer of Hurt Locker and it looked like another "heroic American soldier" film. Probably that's why it earned oscar.
