  • Shame it gets cut off at the end.

  • Whi is the black musician?

  • Fell across this while searching for Gallagher and Lyle. WOW.. Brilliant..cant believe Ive never listened to him before. Thank you so much for this clip

  • Oh damn you play on the 10th fret with E, F# minor and A shapes!

  • Love love love thing song. I woke up from a dream and this song was stuck in my head :)

  • Ahead of its time? What about when I'm dead and gone McGinnis Flint - very similar and earlier than 73?

  • So ahead of it's time

  • This was the first song I learned to play on my fiddle. I always wanted to do the can can dance and bang on my violin with Ronnie Lane singing next to me on a stage somewhere. Congrats on FINALLY making it into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame with the Faces. You were always my favorite. They just do not write and sing songs like you did with that smile. Thank you for your music. I am so grateful Dad & Mom had good music on when I was growing up.

  • Nice to hear Lane's vocals for this song, nice arrangement too, though I think Wood was the right choice for the record :)

  • Wow )))

  • Congrats to Faces- R & R Hall of Fame- They deserve it on the basis of this one song IMHO.

  • in memory 2011 at thanksgiving, ronnie we dont forget you,

  • i wonder if the guy on the acordian ever heard the song?

  • Legend, I wish it was longer!

  • Beautiful song, great musician.

I learned it and will be teaching it to my son.

  • Great performance by a talented guy and band.... This is a "classic" song. Thanks for posting.

  • Another magical performance and thing of beauty from the late Ronnie Lane.

  • sounds like a much nicer bob dylan

  • brilliant and the great gallgher and lyle are playing on stage with him too oo lla la

  • When Ronnie grins at 1:04 it puts a grin on my face...he's one of those artists that is so enthusiastic you can't just help join in his fun. That's beside the point that I love this song.

  • proves that the GOOD really do die young BLESS RONNIE

  • This is what music supposed to be god dam this crap of today. Love ya Small Faces!

  • He look like a "Ozizo-san" but Ilike him & ooh la la.

  • So talented and what a beautiful guy. Such a miss.

  • What a great musician Ronnie was. He is sorely missed.

  • Ronnie Lane, they don't make 'em like that any more.

  • sang with so much soul

  • where can i find the full version of this live performance?

  • Saw him with Stewart ... never forget it ... you had to be there to feel it ... can't be explained .... gifted, one of a kind ... no-one like him now ... Trust me ... it's over, ... RIP Ronnie.

  • who's the cat on bass?

  • First time I've seen this. Grew on me straight away....

  • Either I hang my guitar up the wall... or I just get inspired... I pick the latter....

This is a guy that I wish I met....

  • I love this have a look at alisons kitchen I think you will all love em

  • sounds like paul mccartney

  • @SoloClassic In your dreams, what an insult. McCartneys a scouser. Ronnie is obviously the better singer.

  • Fantastic! Love it, thank-you for posting :)

  • for my best friend ted, thank you for turning me onto this, love you!

  • So why on earth is this cut off at the end? It must be a minute or two longer!

  • two thumbs up

  • GREAT stuff !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Plonk's version is absolutely beautiful.

  • Absolute brilliance. X

  • this is still one of the most brilliant performances ... ever. bless you ron.

  • accompanied by the great gallagher and lyle

  • it's 1:52 in the morning, i just typed in "ooh ooh la la la" out of boredom and stumbled across this gem, life is good

  • LOVE RONNIE

  • Does anyone have Ronnie and Slim Chance doing the song about Amelia Earhart? (Amelia Earharts Last Flight?) Can't find it on YouTube .

    Cheers

    ... and Happy Birthday Ron.

  • Such a feel good tune!! :)

  • its a dobro

  • close to perfect

  • Ronnie Lane was the best thing that ever happened to Faces. When he left us, Heaven gained its greatest smile.

  • @1950tomcat Damn right. Get a tear every time I HEAR THIS.

  • rushmore

  • Beautiful song, sang as only Ronnie could sing it. You are sadly missed my friend.

  • Anybody tell me what kind of guitar the "front man" is playin....? Want to buy it in a few years time.

  • if anyone can get the full version i will marry them

  • Seriously, what an absolutely perfect song, performed beautifully. F'N A, great version.....sucks it cuts off @ the end...

  • i can't watch this enough times. thanks!

  • Terrific, outstanding, wonderful. All of the above.

  • This is the best version and how it was meant to sound. Ronnie Lane wrote this. Ronnie Wood sang it on the 1973 Faces LP Ooh La La while Rod probably made it famous as he sang it at many of his live shows. However it is still the late great Ronnie Lanes song and masterpiece.

  • ROD STEWART VERSION IS THE BEST

  • Ronnie Lane, The Faces : so, so underrated. Almost a tragedy.

  • Ronnie lane's vocals is weird on this i prefer Ron woods and rod Stewart's version, does more justice. they're version is not bombarded with 20 different instruments. I'm no music critic but to me the song needs to sound more simple and nostalgic not upbeat and folky. I'm glad he put Wood's version on the album.

  • @raimego To each his own...

  • cant fault this performance.CAN ANYONE?

  • oh my ... the ending is so cruel!!!!!!

  • I wish this didnt get cut short, its so great!

  • ronnie was so good just a bit of class

  • always did like this song,

    this is a great version

  • His smile just makes you want to smile....you can't help it

  • @est3inb3rg Absolutely right. And when he opens his eyes while he is singing, there is a sparkle to them that I don't think I've ever seen anyone possess as bright as Ronnie. :)

  • Real life stories eh,? good old Ronnie, we all been fooled in the past. great song, simple but effective. Classy performer. Woul've liked to see him perform with Joe Brown.

  • Just beautiful, simply class

  • This is my favorite version of this song.

  • topleft26 - nice one!, I like your patter, what market do you think Ronnie was referring to in that great song?

  • This is almost like 20 years before Waterboys and World Party, great bands and I do love Karl Wallinger and Mike Scott... but... lets be frank... this is beyond that and its 20 years a head!

    Ronnie in my heart forever!

  • If there is a next life, I want to meet up with Ronnie lane on a Sunday, have a butchers down Petticoat Lane market, find a good boozer, and have him play a couple of his songs on acoustic guitar! Bliss!

  • @cruithneuladh.. There is a good butchers down petticoat Lane. You can meat up there every day of the week except Sunday.. they"re closed. But Ronnie was a good boozer, you got that right...Acoustic guitar.. probably not more like the bass.. What you should have said is," I want to fish up with Petticoat Lane on a mon-sat have a mongers down ronnie lane debris market, find a boozer and call it a bargain, get your bass Ronnie do us a mother brown sorta thing...

  • Is this on cd anywhere?

  • Can't stop watching...

  • ...a great clip of a great song, sung by a great musician....5beer*

  • Can someone please tell me the chords to this? Capo 10 with opening chord being E....can't quite make out the others?? Cheers

  • @adyyoungmusic

Hey man, capo on 7 with G shape to start, then Am7 shape, so you should just keep your pinky finger planted on the 10th fret of the top E string he entire song! Cheers

  • @captainrock2002

And more specifically, for the Am7 shape, fret the 10th on the top E, the 8th on the B, leave the G string open, and fret the 9th on the D string!

  • Without doubt the best version of this song on YouTube, superb arrangement and vocals by Ronnie.

  • Oh, Ronnie. He was Sooo good. Miss him.

  • i saw the faces in their full pomp and majesty...wot a fabulous band..ronnie was the star of the show...keep on rockin everone..xxx

  • He sings a little like Rory Gallagher. Great stuff

  • one of the most talented musicians ever....great songwriter & singer as well....his influence will last forever.....!

  • Still sadly missed. Rest in peace dear Ronnie

  • Ronnie's dad told him to learn a musical instrument that way he'd always have friends.

By the way am I the only one who tears up at this song?

  • @quig66 you sure arent the only one

  • For me, this is the definitive version of this song. Ronnie Lane at his excellent best. Sorely missed. (Adds a reverential nod to Mr Wood)

  • great song

  • 15 lost souls

  • 15 dislikes.. there is some fuckin cock features on this plantet!! Idiots.

  • awsome - amazing - A1 - triple A what a legend i love this song

  • Who wrote this? Unfuckingbelievable song. Never heard this version. Wish I had heard it when I was younger...

  • Its always wonderful to see the great man doing what he loved and so fit and healthy. He's a real miss and never fails to make me smile and remember carefree days. Legend.

  • I think I like this version better than the Faces one. Ron Wood's voice just kinda ruins that version for me after hearing Ronnie sing it here. Too bad Lane never re-recorded the song with this lineup.

  • @Mikemaniax Never mind. Just discovered the live at the BBC album, which contains 3 (count-em) 3 versions of Lane and Slim Chance doing "Ooh La La"!

  • Ronnie, Rest In Peace my friend. Your music always brings a smile to my face. We miss you!!!

  • As sweet sounding today as it was way back then...

  • he was a musical genius. awesome song writer

  • this song was a perfect ending to rushmore

  • We all wish that we knew what we know now when we was younger...ooh la la

ooh la la, la la, yeah

  • Brilliant, such a great melody. Alternating from the happy major key to the melancholy minor key. The song makes you smile and cry at the same time! Just great. :)

  • RIP Plonk

  • this song is perfect amazing

  • Much missed. They don't make musician like him anymore. Thanks Ronnie.

  • Its one of those songs that bring back tons of memories.

"You have to learn just like me , and thats the hardest way"

  • Ronnie L - one of the best EVER....

  • This song makes me cry.

  • I don't know why, but Ronnie allways makes me get into a special mood, a kind of happiness, sadness ... thnks for share us!!!

  • the slim chance version the best one. What a talent ronnie i wish he was here still would off loved to have seen him perform in concert.

  • Should've read "Ronnie Lane and the Faces"

  • Much better than Ronnie Wood's drunken version!

  • Hey any Dusty Springfield fans out there?

  • I'm a huge fan of Dusty Springfield - I just heard about this new original DVD series: youtube(dot)com/profile?user=britishinvasiondvds#g/u

  • @jeffhall08jh YEP!!!

  • @jeffhall08jh fuck that lesbian twat, its Ronnie Lane!

  • A favorite of mine , thank you!!

  • Doesn't get much better than that.

  • Ronnie Lane. The best ever!!!!!!

  • I am a song writer. As one, I can tell you that Ronnie Lane was one of the best! Have any of you looked up who these "famous musicians" music originated from?...

    Oh la la...

    -Hjluck

  • Brill. Happy music. Makes the world a better place.

  • Terrific. I miss the Faces and Ronnie Lane. Nothin' quite like 'em. Thank you for posting!

  • I hope there's heaven and I'll play tambourine in the Ronnie Lane Band.

  • ronnie lanes slim chance

  • ronnie lane was great

  • anyone who can smile like that while they play is meant to be a musician.

  • how could rod treat him that way

    he was the faces

  • What do you mean? He looked after Plonk - Don Arden is the one who caused all the problems for the original Small Faces. Kenney Jones probably got off best because he was picked up by The Who in the late 70s

  • rod never talks about ronnie like the others do

  • So what? I'm not Rod Stewart's biggest fan, but he, Jimmy Page, and Ronnie Wood donated money for his medical care. Problem with The Faces is that Stewart & Wood were passing through onto 'better' things. If he'd been fit, Plonk would've probably needed to go solo himself.

Not all good things last forever, indeed that is sometimes why they are good.

  • has anyone got "Don´t try to Change my Mind"???

  • love this song

  • ronnie lane steve marriot rip best there was

  • Anyone know where i can hear a full version? This is by far the best version of this song I've heard, but the cut off at the end leaves me wanting more...

  • @ACudmore2 Yeah, I don't know why ppl post like that.

  • Lane and Wood

  • who did write this song? Wood, lane or stewart?

  • @bellazedo Stewart cant write. Ronnie Lane wrote it as well as the majority of that album.

  • @schulzey34 Nice. LOL! But it was Ron Wood who wrote this from what I understand.

  • Ronnie Lane wrote the song For Rod Stewart to sing but Rod complained that it was in the wrong key for him Lane didnt think it was within his vocal range at the time,so in the end Ron Wood ended up singing the studio version,

  • I seemed to grow up listening to Ronnie Lane. Such a cruel disease MS. RIP Ronnie!

  • You can see why Ronnie was so loved by all his friends.

  • Has anyone heard the Paul Weller song 'Sweet Pea, Mt Sweet Pea'? It has an uncanny resemblance to this, especially the intro. And he's a long time fan of Ronnie Lane.

  • goosebumps all the way....

  • We miss you,Ronnie.Sorry to lose you to MS,a battle my wife now wages...

  • much love and support.

  • ahhhh!!! where's the rest of the video! i'm starting to sing along with it and then it got cut off on oooh lala la . . la la la ooh-

  • Rest in peace Ronnie.

  • ronnie lane singing it is the best

  • i discovered that i lived in the same town at the same time r. lane lived there, just before he passed on. but, of course, i did not know that at the time. i still only live about 80 miles from

Trinidad, CO, where his final resting place is in the masonic cemetery. they do not make rockers like r. lane anymore. he had a sweet sound.
