Without any doubt Bobby Fischer is the most talented and best chess player of all times. He was stronger than all of earlier players like Capablanca or Alekhin and later ones like Kasparov or Karpov. Their record was in Spassky's favor before the match, but you have to remember that Fischer defeated both Larsen and Taimanov 6-0. He also completely crushed Petrosian. I think Fischer was better than Spassky at this point.
The music sounds ridiculous on the surface, but in context, it's oddly fitting. It's all from the Beach Boys' Smile album - one that was never released because Brian Wilson was in a very similar mental state when creating it as Fischer was around the time of this match. Whomever chose this music has a wicked sense of humor.
To Spassky, finace played a big role... he badly wanted that big purse.... which has been played down a lot and Fischer has taken all the flak... a pity really.
Blieve me, I lov Fisher's playing style, & his games constantly amaze me everytime I revisit them - but poor Spassky!
The way Bobby acted b4 & during the match was so demanding, disrespectful, & insane, I'm amazed Boris just didn't get up & say "f*ck u, spoilt brat!" then walk out...
