  • whats the name of the song whistled at the beginning?

  • @HunterPhenomMakoy "see the conquering hero comes" by handel

  • Rule Britannia! Britain and allies forever!

  • together we stand divided we fall

  • What's the song?

  • UK rocks! Please stay Scotland!

  • Empire is gone

  • united kingdom is the best scotland please dont go

  • @easy77146 Alas the Union is over.....The Lord be thanked.

  • Finest 'hours'!?!

I fail to see even a fine second, given Britain's rape of the world's continents and its lasting heritage in the problem areas of the present world - all of Africa, the middle-east, India-Pakistan. Its only real contribution to the advancement of mankind is that its language, thanks to its simplicity, has become the world's lingua franca

  • @forgetititititit Wow, I love people like you. Tell Me, why are you watching this video if you, apearing to Me, dislike this video so much? If it is something stupid like "To tell people the truth." as a responce, just go to hell.

  • @501darth Well he has to look at the video to know he dislikes it! you just have to be english hence really stupid question.

  • @strathpipe So, wait, if he dislikes Britain, why see if he likes a tribute video to Britain?

Yes, I am English, do you have such a problem? If you do, please, kindly do not bother Me with such agressive tones of how idiotic you may think I am. I was only saying to him how coming to a video of something he dislikes is rather pointless.

  • @501darth Like the rest of your kind you talk Pish and don't bother me with your nonsense.

  • @strathpipe My kind? Sir, would that make you a bit Racist? I imagine it would. Also, you were the one who brought it up. I was talking to that man, and you came out of no where and started argueing with Me.

  • @501darth I was not so much argueing with you as stating the obvious Sir.

  • @forgetititititit Ironically, you expel the most disgracefully illogical and narrow-minded of most awkwardly ignorant peoples arguments. You take the briefest glance at the history and from it and the general media distorted abominations within drama and literature, reckon that little old you can immediately have a true grasp of the what was the British Imperium. Sadly, many British people themselves suffer from this naive ignorance. I suppose you are American. Also, English is not simple, fool.

  • @ThePalaeontologist Bravo, good sir I wish all british were like you then maybe I could have a proper conversation.

  • @forgetititititit simple? hardly. the fact it is so ubiquitous may give you that illusion, but quite frankly theres no other language that has the same diversity and complexity that english does.

  • Please, do make a loop video of this.

This is a great video, I watch every day.

    Five Stars *****

    Liked, Favorited and Subed.

  • So right pkendall! Just a funny shaoed little island off the NW coast of Europe. Yes, but what an island and what a race!

  • even hitler admired how such a small island could have dominated the entire world. they have every damn right to be proud. that nation is one of the pinacles of the human race.

  • Rule Britannia! I live in Australia and I am proud that we are a colony of Great Britain and that our flag uses the British Blue Ensign. God save the Queen! Long live Great Britain!

  • @leezerdemon8 Long live Great Britain AND her loyal allies!

  • @leezerdemon8

its a shame there is talk of changing the Flags of Austrlia and New Zealand.

though the Kiwis seems more into the idea.

    Hopefully thats just rumors.

My country canada took away the union jack. Now its only on the Flag of a few provinces: Manitoba, British Columbia and my home province Ontario.

  • @alikos88 i am not that familiar with canadian history, but maybe this has something to do with the fact that canada throughout its history is far more francophile than other countries of the commonwealth?

  • @beidlgsicht

Not so, well expect for Quebec and no one really likes them.

French is pretty much shoved down our throats in the rest of English Canada.

All the bloody labels and Road signs have to be "Bi-Lingual" to appease our Quebecois "friends". There was mention to change the Canadian flag to two Blue Vertical bars to represent Quebec but never went through.

My complain is why did they change the old Flag that had the Union Jack on the red background and the seal of canada

  • I'm a Filipino, and I would love to wear the red coat and be one of linemen, and a blue coat like in the pirates, to be a navy. :))

  • The empire is gone, you got showed the exit in Ireland. Ogaigh na Heireann

  • @dmcc20012 Yeah well we did conquer and subjugate you for 800 years, suppose that would make someone a bit sore. The irony of it all is that despite 'being shown the exit' the most patriotic British people live in Ireland. Comical really.

  • @Talbot6832 Do you want to hear a war story a real 1?

7 weeks before the truce between Ireland and Britain in July 1921 the British presence in 1 county(Cork) was a total of over 12,500 men 8,800 front line troops, 1,150 "Black and Tans, 540 Auxililaries, 2,080 machine gun corps and other units against these forces stood the I.R.A whose strenght never exceeded 110 riflemen under General Tom Barry which ended in the withdrawal of the British from the 26 counties.T Barry is studied at Sandhurst.

  • @dmcc20012 -Britain is the only real "friend" Ireland has got -get used to it, as at the moment Britain is keeping your necks above the water line.of the very cold lonely and very deep Atlantic

  • i miss the British empire

  • RULE BRITANNIA!!!!

  • the way i see it (but not to cause offence) the following countries are so heavily influenced by britan i think they are part of britan: austrailia, canada, india, the usa, ireland- that is not to say that those countries should be exactly like britan. i mean that they should keep their cullture, but instead of fighting for rescources should fight for truth and justice-AND HAVE SOME GOOD OLD BRITISH COMMON SENSABILITY!

  • only parasitic racists can admire genocidal british empire.

  • @hammertapping only a sri lankan would say that tut tut

  • @GGMacarthur all (minus few the collaborating slaves) who lived under the oppressive and bloody british empire will say what i said. so will all who are capable of finding facts instead of repeating worn out racist imperial propaganda.

    -

    i will say it again,

only parasitic racists can admire genocidal british empire.

    are you a racist ?

    -

btw do you know that even the 'crown' jewels of the extremely vulgar british royal scum are looted? lot of the stones from sri lanka.

  • @hammertapping bah one side of my famly are was angol indain , yes they where part of the empire of which you speak ill off and the other side of my famly have a black side to them so shut up i my self will say your a( RACIST ) your only saying that coz im a white guy shame on your self and your famlys name

  • @hammertapping Are you implying we give a shit?

  • i need the union jack

only got the english flag :D

  • anyone notice the guy who uploaded it is from Austria? i find that pretty cool, shows a real apprechiation. you got my respect

  • @elbones1982 thanks mate. i'm an anglophile. rule britannia!! and check out my other vids! ;)

  • @beidlgsicht You sir are welcome in my house any time. A fan of Great Britain will always be a friend of mine..

  • @elbones1982 - Does not surprise me. I am a New Yorker and I admire the English and am grateful for their many contributions and sacrifices. Long live England. Long live Britannia.

  • D: I thought this was a hetalia vid...

    xD oh well.

  • The scene of the Calvary charge- The Light Brigade?

    Its superb- incredibly well done.

    What movie is it from?

    -Bill in Canada

  • @baghend from the film waterloo me thinks :) bloody frogs

  • @GGMacarthur Yes, you're right.

    On both counts.

At lest they weren't hurling cows (Pythons Holy Grail)

As far as the Empire was concerned, the only Empire worthy of the name since the Romans, I've spent a lot of time in India- two of my kids are born there, and I've talked to a number of elderly Indians who said the worse thing the Brits ever did to them was to leave.

If the Yanks had read some history, they might have done better with their Empire, instead of fucking it up so badly.

    Bill

  • @baghend lol monty python sound film lol :) and the yanks well they still big mothed see wht they are doing to the other countrys lol :)

  • @GGMacarthur Yes- you're right. I hope they don't do something even more insane than invading Iraq, but I think they're going to soon. Britain and canada would do well to distance ourselves from them as quick as possible. The Aussies and Kiwis as well.

    -Bill in Canada

  • @baghend true we have sort of got plans to bome iran if they dont stop nuclear buliding :(

  • Great vid, though I'm not sure the commonwealth map is right.

  • FOR ENGLAND!!!!!!!!!

  • @1m4Worldpeace FUCK ENGLAND ? UR NAME IS WORLD PEACE AND ENGLAND THE COUNTRY TYRING TO SOLVE IT SO FUCK OFF BEFORE I RAPE UR MOM

  • Thank you Britain for your spread of English, the easiest fucking language in the world!!!

  • @kokofisher Indeed: I am german and I studied french for 9 years and I still cannot order a pizza in french.

I studied english for 7 years and I listen to genuine speeches of british MEPs and understand about 90% and I love reading the "Hornblower" naval novels.

  • @BugMagnet

Horatio Hornblower??? Me too I love those ones!

  • @kokofisher Exactly those. I just love the way the mentality of the early 19th century is presented. A lot of things are similar to today but on the other hand there still were gentlemen around something you hardly fiund today and about never find in some meaningful office. And the novels contain a heap of frog jokes^^

  • @kokofisher I believed the English language was very easy to understand and learn at first but then i was lead to believe that people who are raised in a different language then try to learn English actually found it difficult. Im not sure if this is true but from what i gather the English language is very complicated for people to learn.

  • Well done British Empire, creating great nations like the US, Canada, Australia, spread democracy and freedom, spread innovation

  • @wank0r i like how you used democracy and spreading an empire in the same sentance what a fucking retard

  • @seankinsellasean He didn't mention spreading an empire, fucking retard.

  • Funny. I get a strange sense of poetic Irony. That Britains finest hours were represented by the soaring planes in world war 2. For all the Imperial Century, that was a triumph against tyranny, a victory for justice. Britain had learnt to fly, just before her Empire (unfortunately) split up. God Save the Queen. :)

  • British Imperialism is, and always will be, the only form of globalisation which actually worked. The EU. The UN. NATO. They are simply envious of her greatness, and I'll tell you something on this day and in this place.

    They will never rival her...

  • @winstonchurchill95 Britain is merely a 1707 political construct first formed by Scotland and England, the true countries. It can be a term of citizenship, but extends no further, as it's not a nation or ethnic group.

  • @TheFatalInstinct1 The fact that Britain created the world as we know it, entitles them to call themselves whatever they damn well please.

  • @winstonchurchill95 It matters not, as 'British' is merely a term of citizenship forged from the original 1707 political construct. When you talk of Scotland's creation of the modern world or English achievements they can be termed that too.

It's a term of citizenship first and foremost, hence why most immigrants to these countries, largely England, call themselves 'British' despite not being born native to these nations.

This is a current progressive movement aided by the rise of nationalism.

  • @TheFatalInstinct1 An interesting litlle foible of the British Constitution- apart from it being mostly unwritten is that it contains no definition of the rights and duties of of the citizenry. Why is this? Because the people of these islands and its dependencies are in fact, subjects of the Monarch. Even the Government is more properly addressed as " His/Her Majesties Government ". Not many people know this...

  • @MaxwellTurn But yet the British people are among the most free of the entire world.

  • @BugMagnet Go on then, define what you mean by 'the most free'.

    How do you measure freedom?

    It is an intangible concept.

Another thing-I merely mentioned that; owing to the complexity of the British Constitution, British people are both Subjects AND Citizens.

  • Cont.) There is no differential between the two states. The first is no better or worse than second. It's just a British thing-it all depends on what level of society you are born into.

A person may acquire great fiscal net-worth in their life-in fact they may become one of the world's richest persons but if they were born to a labourer they will be the rich child of a a labourer. Great fiscal net-worth does not confer any elevation of social class.

  • @MaxwellTurn correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I'm aware I didn't talk about social classes

  • @BugMagnet you don't know much then, do you?

Can I humbly suggest that you spend some time reading the works of Eric Blair, who is more famously known as George Orwell. Especially the books, " The Road to Wigan Pier ", " Down and Out in London and Paris "

and " Keep the Aspidistra Flying ".

  • @winstonchurchill95

    Thought that was God.

  • @winstonchurchill95

Well the U.S are doing pretty well.

  • @paladinee That's true. In all fairness, the US, unlike Britain and Europe at the moment, have been able to deal with the debt crisis much more effectively and with less pointless.arguing.

  • @winstonchurchill95

Well thats only true because of the federal reserve and the bank of England buying massive amount of bonds/debt the rest of Europe dont want the European bank with that ability, since they consider it solves the problem now but causes a greater one in the future.

  • @winstonchurchill95 Look at all the great nations spawned by England...

  • Post WW2 Britain has gone on to have another "empire" and ruled the world in a different sense e.g. inventing the jet engine (Whittle), the computer (Flowers at Bletchley Park) and, to an extent, television. All three inventions an improvement on jumping onto somebody else's beach, sticking a flag into it and beginning asset stripping. If only our corrupt, incompetent politicians were worthy of us. As for our gutter press, dumping down tv, and bankers ........................

  • Brother, you are a rare (?) smart American. In my opinion, the Brits are far more civilized than we Yankee! In fact, methinks all of Europe is (I lived in Deutschland almost 30 years). We aren't yet a civilized country & are apparently heading for far worse (President Perry? It will be all over, trust me!)!.

  • The British empire must rise once more! So must all empires around the world, Great German (non Nazi) Reich, French Empire, Russian Empire, Japanese Empire, Italian Coalition Empire, Balkan Coalition Empire, Greek Empire

  • @ModellMeister Hear hear. Imperialism is better than globalism. Anyday. And its a shame that the German Empire was taken away. That was a disgraceful act.

  • @turner123468 As the other person said every empire or country has so get over it and shut the fuck up

  • for king george and britian!!!

  • britains youth are turning into chavs and love america more than britain dicraceful i love my country and i like america as well but i would never put it before my own country for england harry and saint george

  • @willshawkins I'm a British youth (13 years old) and I already know every word of our national anthem and many other British hymns.

  • @NathanH97 it's good to hear that. i am not a british citizen but i do think that britain has a special importance for the destiny of the world. there is no contradiction between "being interested in other cultures" and "never forget where you come from". all the best!

  • @NathanH97 Im british and im 14 and I know all the words to rule britannia, land of hope and glory, god save the queen and the british grenadiers most say are generation is lost but I say otherwise I belive britain is the best country in the world and always will be even if my generation is not patriotic I will be and britain will always be in my heart.

    Rule Britannia!

  • @VoRlC amen.

  • @VoRlC Need to stop corruption in Britain before England, Wales and Scotland can be restored so no mate it really is the end of Britain the armed forces are almost gone and we can easily get pushed around by other countries like America, Russia and China. Britain used to be a place where there was alot of production and new technology being found now look at it we don't come first in much anymore even education and healthcare has gone down I really do hate to say this but Britain is done.

  • @willshawkins Im 14 im not a chav and I love britain we are not lost yet we will rise again!

    Rule Britannia!

  • Napoleon on the Royal Marines:

"Much could be done with 100,000 men such as these"......

  • The Commonwealth might well become my refuge once the "Europeans" finished looting our economy and ruining our policies.

    Greetings from Germany.

  • @BugMagnet Or perhaps the looting may subside if confidence in markets were boosted......... Say if countries did as they say others should.... such as bailing people out.....

  • @hatstalker We are bailing everyhing out. The EFSF and the other programs have grown up to some 800 billion€. And the bail-outs are the looting. And we already lost alot of wealth through the euro exchange rate mechanism. The DM would be worth 1,30€ today.

  • @BugMagnet Sort of ironic really, as Germany was one of the countries that set up the EU......

  • @titytit Yes. We wanted to have the closest connection to the west possible and we wanted peace with france.

But after that some strange ideas have taken over the EU like "what if we could make the entire continent a single country?" Bout those people believe in dreams and not in logic or sense. They don't care about the hardship of the greeks or the germans or about the fakt that their dream is busting the euro.

To stay on topic: The Brits are better of on their island.

  • @BugMagnet And that is a justification for going back on your word (as a nation)????????? I think not. There are those who have a responsibility and the ability to carry the burdens of those who cannot.

  • @hatstalker We do not have the duty to be obedient to people who paid our loyalty with treason.

And it is not just to rob 80 million people of some good 20% of their wealth just so a few hundred can sleep well.

Compromises are necessary but to turn the ECB into some kind of FED that buys all the junk bonds ist simply stupid.

  • @BugMagnet And lo there we have it., the latent selfishness among the wealthy, the self perpetuating greed. You as much as I have a moral duty to care for those who cannot do so for themselves.

  • @hatstalker It is not like the greeks can not care for themselves. But they can not go on being unproductive on one side and live in utter excess on the other side fuled by credits.

And what about the bail outs? they are not helping greece, they are just helping the french banks who were stupid enough to lend the greeks too much money.

The banks have to pay for their self inflicted losses and greece needs to default. end of story.

And you talk as if the greeks were starving....

  • I just wish the lyrics were still true... the Tories have made a mockery of our armed forces.

  • @dannyr1980 The tories? How about the inept politicans with no military experience for the last 20ish years!

  • Thank god im English and god is an Englishman too

  • we may be small but by god we are strong

I love Briton in all its glory

  • @UKtitch

The size of the nation dosent matter. The size of the nations overwhelming resolve and patriotism does...

  • Ah 01:07 - 01.36 the Scots Greys at Waterloo...even Napolean was moved to say, 'who are those magnificent men on grey horses'.

  • @AdelisteinPrivileg Thats 'See the conquering hero' from Judas Maccabaeus, by G.F. Handel

  • Why does the title say "Rule Britannia" when the music being played is "Thine Be The Glory"?

  • @graemephillips goodness me, rule britannia is starting at 1:00. don't tell me you can't wait a single minute.

  • @beidlgsicht I found this out when I listened to the later part and so deleted the comment.

  • glory to the british empire... this is what the white man can do... conquering everything

    rule britannia!!!!

  • The leftists scorn the British Empire, but could not have civilization without its inception. Rule Britannia!

    from an American cousin

  • @eeuplad Hey- I'm a "leftist" as you put it and I think the British empire, having read about it for the past 40 years and more, is the ONLY empire worthy the name since the Romans.

Too bad you yanks fucked yours up so badly- you should have studied your history a little better.

Too late now, you're circling the drain.

Not too late for Mandarin lessons though.

  • @baghend Incredibly astute baggy. I'll bet you passed your O levels all by yourself.

  • @eeuplad I'm afraid i'm just a poor colonial- from the wilds of Canada- (cripes it's frigging cold here) , but I know we turn our back on our British heritage at our peril. And, though born here, I've spent years in India (two of my children born there) and talked to many elderly Indians who said to me the worst thing Britain ever did to them was to leave. Most African and Asian colonies would be better off had you not left.

For me- i'm grateful for what you gave us.

    Thanks

    Bill in Canada

  • @baghend I'm originally from Michigan, so I know about the cold. Britain's legacy to the free world is shamefully neglected in the history lessons of the English-speaking countries that have benefited from every aspect of her culture.

  • @eeuplad Hey- I grew up across from Detroit. What are you doing in the land of mushy peas, bread and marge, a nice cuppa tea for tea, wankers, mangey gits, trouble-at-pit-lads, lager louts, upper class twits et al? You must be lecturing somewhere?

All kidding aside, it seems political correctness and the wish to re-write history, or the complete neglect of history for the young is having its effect. And while it may have been occupation and often at the point of a bayonet, continued...

  • @baghend the relative fairness and decency of the Brits, and sacrifice-yes, even the White Mans Burden, comes through. Read of Sir Arthur Cotton (Indian irrigation-dams) Sir Arthur Grimble( the Gilbert islands), William Wilberforce(end of slavery), so many others- the explorers Cook, Shackleton, Livingston, the scientists- Darwin, Fleming, the inventors, the Statesmen- Churchill, the writers and poets, the very language the worlds lingua franca,

If we are civilized, thank the Brits.

    -Bill

  • Being British is the Lottery of life, we're all winners wohoo lol

  • Remember if you are born an Englishmen you have consequently won the lottery of life :)

  • @durnham Lol. Youve won the rollover if you were born an ulsterman!

  • @davetonia1233 i was born a welshman and am a celt as are you, we are brothers among these isles and the best troops :D

  • @OW41N hehe. Well lets just say that british folk are the best people that ever lived. In fact i even think jesus was british.

  • @davetonia1233 lol yep :D we are, and he must be, because only britains gain greatness

  • Long Live the British empire, God rest the soul of 'Sir' Winston Churchill, who was one of the all time great leaders with the likes of the Duke of Wellington and Nelson. The British Commonwealth rules the seas. Churchill should be in the History books.

LONG LIVE THE QUEEN and all who stand with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @AlextheGreat10100 no! Churchill should be on the cover of all history books.

  • Winston Churchill effectively crippled the British Empire, he is the sole reason for it's downfall. Most undeserving person in the history books.

  • @nomorenigsplease well your a bit of a tosser then aren't you, being serious- two world wars, does put a 'slight' strain on any countries finances hence why the empire lives on through the Commonwealth

  • As an American I might not be qualified to speak here but, I don't think the British Empire has dwindled. Since WWII, the Brits have excelled at exporting their culture all over the world, in a sense establishing a larger network of colonies than they ever could have physically conquered. People are nuts for anything British over here. Go Brits.

  • @hootskc I agree, just look at how far the English language has spread and influenced the world :) x

  • @hootskc As another American, of mainly English descent, I would add that some of us over here look to the monarchy as a thing of intrigue, and fascination. I know some Brits want it done away with. For what its worth, I hope that never happens. In my humble opinion, I don't think England would be England without it. I think the monarchy does much for tourism, and other things that are good for the UK. I think its worth the tiny, and ever shrinking portion set aside for it in the budget..

  • ya tea sippin spice girl lovin slimey fish a chips

  • A long time ago, I went to Hollland to get away from a country that was disappearing...Britain was in the clutches of a corrrupt government which has acheived its object in turning its true inhabitants into slaves burdened with heavy taxes...if you want your country back, you will have to fight for it now.....

  • I'm Dutch, and I can't stand my own country. Our society is bad. I wish I'd be British, and therefor I'm going to emigrate to Britain whonce I'm allowed to!

  • @thesuperwillem no no no your lucky man you get legal pot dont do it i would kill to be dutch even thoguh i love being british

  • @Chingchong052

Why that? is Britain society bad?

  • @thesuperwillem no offence but it is immigrants that have brought us down even harder

  • what's the Prelude name in the beginning?

  • R.I.P. British Empire. 1600 - 1945.

  • @MajBlood

    Correction:

1600-1776 with all due Respect ;)

  • @Iceman5164 Losing the ungrateful colonies was a big loss, but hardly the end of an empire. Britain held on to Canada, the Caribbean, and India and went on to colonize Australia and most of Africa.

  • @MajBlood

1701 - 1997 the empire started with the act of union and ended with the handing over of Hong Kong

  • @VigisKane The Act of Union was in 1707, and I would call the beginning of the empire in the 1600s starting with the colony of Virginia, even if it wasn't Britain then.

  • I'm american , but i love britain as the father of the U.S.A

  • @jff624 , she was in service many many years before the encounter with the bismark and won many battles in that time, she was also the British flag ship and was the largest (in length) ship in the world even when bismark was commisioned. Also Hoods sinking was only a lucky shot from bismark that went straight through Hoods magazine.

  • hey... I just would like to ask... why is the HMS Hood included in Britain's finest hour...? I thought she was sunk by the Bismark of the Germans...?

  • why is the HSM Hood included in Britain's finest hour...? I thought she was sunk by the Bismarck of the Germans...?

  • 1 Jealous American watched this video!

  • is this from the ''patriot'' movie?

  • @watermonkey88 yes yes it is great movie but not historicly accurate

  • @ssgkillsuall oh yeah, It was one of my favorite movies!! Even as a kid, don't know why. It's just great!

  • @ssgkillsuall

Watch HBO's John Adams, Historically Accurate down to Jefferson's thoughts on slavery... and a lot better than The Patriot...

  • @Iceman5164 i never said this was historically accurate but i wll look that up but the patriot is still a great movie

  • @watermonkey88

The Beginning portion of the video is, Yes...

  • the best version of this song i've ever heard. Rule Britannia, long live the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, and God save the Queen!

  • Wounderful video to our British Military History.

Rule Britannia & God Save The Queen

  • How Glorious

  • this song really stands for the mighty of the british empire. god save the queen!!!

  • what version is this? I love it
