  • PROM's (Programmable Read Only Memories) were used in very old drum machines/Arpeiggators. This is really very much like what he is doing with the Atmel/AVR hardware(Guessing as he is not telling the brand). If you google for Viscount pb187818a.jpg, on the first picture coming up you will see a circuit board of such electronics. The 2 bright green chips are PROMs.

  • @scorpion8588 Every processor with spare I/O pins can generate sound. It's just a duty cycle with a certain frequency.

  • wow ur genius dude..

  • nice work..........

  • Can all microcontrollers generate waves or just the one used in this video?

I just bought a solderless breadboard and can only send DC signals.

  • which micro controller did you choose???????????

  • @francisroan You can choose any microcontrollers you want. You juste have to know in what programming languages you re going to write your code and the associated compiler. Then select the good functions who are expected to generate song at a certain frequency

  • Great tutorial on generating music.

  • is that red switch connected to pin 11 is relay switch or something like that?

  • Haha! That shirt is much too large for that little guy.

  • Ok... I spent quite a while changing the fuse-settings to 8Mhz RC internal because at 1Mhz the sound was too low. However... it still doesn't really work. The notes just aren't right and to me it sounds it's still to low. I'm out of ideas. I changed the F_CPU, the OSCCAL and it improved but it's still not good. Also there is a huge difference between playing a note directly in the main function and playing it through the play_note function. Someone help!!!

  • nice :)

  • Parabéns!

    Congratulations!

  • which Microcontroller do you use ??

  • According to his website in his description... Atmel AVR ATmega168. Though the stuff he describes would apply to any microcontroller.

  • I'd rather prefer dynamic speaker than piezoelectric.

  • thanks man!!

  • You can program fluently.

The sound from speaker can play beautifully.

    Great!

    That's All.

  • yay! You're not using winblows!

  • I think it's ubuntu linux...

  • it's ubuntu

  • That's pretty sweet. Be careful, though. That song is copyrighted and apparently the holder is somewhat litigious.

  • ROFL

  • @earthian AHAHAHAHAHA worst purchase ever.

  • That was a great explaination.

Your probably the best 'youtube teacher' i have seen so far..

I hope your persuing an engineering degree - we could really use more engineers like yourself.

  • WOW!
