We turned on the radio the other day while my family and i were cleaning up the basement and when this show came up, everyone stopped and started dancing along.
''SPOT LIGHT ON OTIS REDDING NOW.....SINGIN' FA,FA FA FA FA FA FA....!!! GET ON YER' FEET KICK ASS SOUL !!! DAMN I MISS THOSE DAYS!!!! TOUCHIN' ALL BASES WITH GREAT SOUL SINGERS!!! GREAT FABULOUS SONG !!!
@amberfwn i couldnt agree more...................... its pretty weird you commenting like today cus only yesterday it was on in the place i went for my Valentine's day meal! =P
and when i heard it i just started singin to myself and swingin with it and my GF was like: O_O what the hell are you doing?
Remember driving my brother's Carmen Ghia (he never knew) and the radip blasing so loud, your ears hurt!! Come to think of it, hell, I STILL do that...Just a different car..Anybody know what ever happened to Arthur Conley???
fantastic song , i wish music was like this today , instead i have to grow up with Lady gaga whatever ,,, soul is where my heart is ,, Thanks for the music Arthur
this track makes man wanna get up and fling back the furniture, start boogyin til it STOPS! THEN put it on AGAIN to do the same thing AGAIN!! Ha!!! LOVES IT!!!
When I first heard this in Scotland in the late 60's I loved the record but hadn't a clue about the artists mentioned. Gradually sought them out - loved 'em all. Thanks for posting
This song is on the track at my work . I came home today and had to listen to it, because the song is so dang catchy. Plus, it drove me nuts, I couldnt get it out of my head.
@kiara7891 but if you look carefully at the talent and musicmanship. it is the classics that outshine this garbage. But kepp in mind, you just have to search but it is till out there.
Sock it to them Authur !!!!!!!!!! you da man !! do you like good music, that sweet soul music!!! Help me yow'll the funk is breaking down my front door !! lawd have mercy.
I always get mad when I listen to this cause I feel he should have mentioned Tina Turner somewhere in the song lol. That's okay cause Ike and Tina did a cover and Tina says "SPOTLIGHT IS ON ME YALL" ha ha!
No, not before Tina Turner's time. Ike and Tina had been commercially successful since "A Fool in Love" in 1960. Sweet Soul Music is around '67. Ike & Tina Revue was internationally known by this time and had just finished touring with the Rolling Stones. If anything Ike and Tina were before Arthur Conley's time. Regardless, I do like all the versions of the song.
Spotlight on Otis Redding - God bless you, man. I still miss you. Special spotlight on Arthur Conley for doing a great and classic tribute to soul music...
thanks for posting a great tune. love the horn charts.
Authru u da man!! When I do this song at karaoke bars it brings the house down literally !!! This song has so much soul it knocks you in several directions at once. He incorporated all those mult-talented singers in this song and gave credit where credit was due. One of the all time classic soul songs. Authur u da Man!!!!!!!!!! May the funk keep yow'll on your feet until the ambulance shows up, to take your exhausted a-s to hospital cause you done dance yourself into a coma. Yeah, yeah,
@tauheke Thanks for the comment I appreciate it when one has humor and can enjoy the lighter side of life. If you laughed then you made my day. Stay cool and keep the faith !!!
Brings a great big smile to my great big face! Thanks for sharing this!

disagree, i think he changed his name, not his gender, I'll need proof of that. Great song, great voice.
pecanchocolatedeluxe 2 years ago
He borrowed this tune from Sam Cooke
and re-worked it with an upbeat track.
I believe it was originally titled "Yeah Man"
by the great Sam Cooke.
Little Arthur wound up a transvestite doing
his American Soul man act in Belgium.
Great cover, though.
