  • This was the last Saturday night broadcast of Ed's "Camel" series on the West Coast [March 25, 1950], 'spectrum'. Beginning on April 4th, he appeared on Tuesdays at 9pm(et) for the rest of the season; East Coast affiliates presented this show via kinescope film on April 4th, because they could not carry the original live West Coast edition; no "coast-to-coast" transmissions were possible then, until the coaxial cable linking both coasts was completed in September 1951.

  • @fromthesidelines This is very interesting history about TV broadcasting.

I sent you via personal mail , a history of the CBC in Canada from 1946 to 1958.

The first microwave link in Canada was from CBC Toronto to Buffalo , NY, so that US programming could be part of CBC Toronto's TV lineup.
