  • its kate Winslet lol

  • Boogie nights.

  • I seriously have a large amount of respect for this guy.

  • Awesome advice. Thank you Phillip!

  • "Synecdoche, New York" made all the difference to me. If you doubt his talent, watch that movie with a pack of tissues and think again :)

  • Remember that time Hoffman was glued to a wicker wheel chair and burned as he rolled down a hill? Thats all I can picture when I see him now.

  • good actor, good press interview. Maybe it's because I got a lot of respect for this guy, but some interviews just stick in your head better and longer. And this is certainly one of 'em.

  • capote is my least favorite film of hoffman. most favorite probably talented mr ripley

  • has anyone noticed that in these interviews the guy who took the first question, he always asks the stupidest and most akward questions that the actors/actresses dont know how to answer

  • We only became aware of Philip through Capote, being hooked on his performance, we started to collect his other movies on DVD. After watching him in "Owning Mahoney", "Twister" (as Dusty) and "Capote", we realised we had no idea who he really is.

  • @88try88 I would highly recommend "Happiness" and "The Big Lebowski"

  • I absolutely love this man. He is my favorite living actor. I would throw Daniel Day-Lewis up there, too, but I like Mr. Hoffman's movie choices better than the ones Mr. Day-Lewis goes for (There Will Be Blood was fantastic - Nine, not so much).

  • at 1:39 he does a Horatio Caine for a second

  • he is the most versatile actor, in my opinion the worlds best, followed closely by John C Reilly. Don Cheadle Is also RIGHT up there.

  • "I'm sorry....I'm a fuckin' idiot.....ugh...."

I only looked this up because of CH lol

  • Who is asking this idiotic question about gays and hookers for women? For me this is nonsense. Why shouldn´t someone who played a homosexual or a hooker for women win an award? And how many times did this happen, anyway? Some journalists are wrong in this profession.

  • This guy is real. He responded to some idiotic, senstationalistic questions with down to earth answers. I gained even more respect for him.

  • I sadly got to know this actor just a while ago. Now i have watched many of his movies and i have to say, he is the most talented and best actor there is. His acting is so super...

  • Ok, well, when u want to get married again , or sth, don´t hesitate to call! :-)

  • fucking legend

  • absolutely. totally

  • Love Hoffman. He's totally my fave actor right now!!!

  • He farts like a camel. I didn't know celebrities farted. Does Paris Hilton fart?

And the homophobic douche gets owned in the beginning. lol

  • although he didn't get an award i thought he was phenomenal in doubt as father flynn

  • It is such a pleasure to watch his movies. In my mind he is one of the most talented actors of our generation. Tremendously gifted and down to earth at the same time. A star in the best sense of the word.

  • I am like, obsessed with this guy now. As of yesterday. ( ;) )

I don't know what the fuck it is but damn, I love him. Talented genius.

  • "Talented genius" is by no means an overstatement. One of Hollywood's all-time great actors. No doubt in my mind.

  • I think he might be the best we've got, at this point.

  • great actor

  • there's absolutely no fart at 8:55 or at any point in this video

  • i loved his roles in capote, before the devil knows you're dead, happiness, magnolia, and doubt.

  • God I love this man, I'm in love with a fat!I love him

  • He's so personable. Loved him in "The Talented Mr. Ripley." He deserevd a nod in that movie.

  • i wish he's gay

  • he' s very handsome,sexy

  • he is nothing like capote. just great acting. amazing.

  • hes not like any of his charcters. hes REALLY good.

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...what's that? Phoenix came in second according to this teapot? Yeah, sure he did.

  • i'm always impressed by an actors ability to answer randoms stupid questions.

  • horrible interview. they ask the worst questions.

  • He's so sexy

  • So true...

    I mean...Come on...

  • PCH and D Day Lewis... Best actors alive today!

  • Agreed!!!

  • fuck off you poncy school boy

  • "Water goes over a dam, and under a bridge..." :)

  • Oh God, I find PSH so overrated...Since Heath Ledger won every other award for his superior performance in Brokeback, losing the Oscar to PSH was highway robbery.

  • I found Heath Ledger great in Brokeback Mountain. I found him an amazing actor in every film he was in. I thought it was robbery too. Just recently I saw Capote, and I saw why PSH won. He was brilliant; I forgot I was watching him, thinking for a brief, strange moment that I was watching a video of Capote himself. That's what Ledger pulled off in The Dark Knight. PSH is an amazing actor; just because you like Heath more doesn't mean PSH is less deserving.

  • I see it is a habit of yours to post this lie in all of Philip Seymour Hoffman's videos... pathetic.

  • Not a lie, it's called an opinion. I see it is a habit of yours to reply to my comments when I'm not addressing you...pathetic & creepy.

Dean sure has a case of the green eyed monster when Heath Ledger is mentioned.

  • Right, saying that Heath Ledger won all precursors for Brokeback Mountain when he clearly didn't is not a lie./sarcasm

How is it pathetic or creepy that I reply to you? If you don't want any random individual to reply to a comment you posted in a comment forum, then here's a simple solution for you: DO NOT POST ONE.

And no, I don't have a problem with Ledger being mentioned, I have a problem with stans like you posting lies to make Ledger look like an underrated acting genius, idiot.

  • Settle down...you're hysterical over people disagreeing with you. What a prat.

  • Oh dear, you don't represent all people.

All you've done is post inaccurate and false statements to support your "opinion" and then get mad when I call you out on it, why don't you just accept that Heath Ledger did not have a chance to win over Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix and that he did not win any major precursors for you to think he had a chance in hell of winning?

  • I loved Heath's role in Brokeback Mountain. In fact, I thought his role in THAT was even better than his role as the Joker. Though both were great.

However, in every way, Hoffman's performance as Capote blows Heath's Brokeback role clear out of the water. By far.

  • I respectfully disagree. Like I said, everyone is entitled to their opinion. The Oscar buzz is that the Academy will reward Ledger for his Joker role, partly because they didn't give it to him for BM. Funny that PSH is also nominated.

Taking Ledger out of the debate, I have never enjoyed PSH on screen. I can say that he is my least favorite actor. First saw him in Scent of a Woman & found him unbearable to watch. Nothing has changed.

  • PSH played a gay man in Boogie Nights. It was such a small role but I never forgot his performance in that movie. I was really rooting for him to win an Oscar for Capote.. truly a master of his craft

  • hes our pengiun for batman 3 yay!

  • He's the only hope to top Ledger's performance.

  • hes amazing. wow u should see him in mission impossible 3

  • He's my favorite actor! He's amazing!

  • his not my favorite actor....

but i cannot doubt it. yup hes a brilliant actor. =)

  • I really liked his role in Twister.

  • he was great in "the talented mr. ripley" i hated him there...

  • Woah Philip Seymour Hoffman will NOT play the penguin in the next batman movie. Watch the director Christopher Nolan's interview:

    watch?v=ziNhOev951M&feature=related

  • great actor!! but i feel he's underatted!!

  • Underrated why? He was underrated prior to Capote, not anymore.

  • Good answers to shit questions from wanker journalists, especially to the 1st. PSH rules and his portrayal as Truman was absolutely superb!

  • next penguin

  • I hope he plays the penguin in the next batman :)

  • Wow what a dumb first question! Phil Hoffman owns!

  • stupid question and assumption at beginning!!!

  • AMAZING actor, one of my favorites at the moment. Is on his way of becoming a legend.

  • He's my favorite actor.

  • Very nice, Vocalities. That makes two of us.

  • Everyone is asking such retarded questions. You can see it in PSH face that he hates all the questions hes getting.

  • no he's not

  • Is he gay in real life?

  • NO he is not gay. They asked a question about a STREIGHT man playing a gay character.

  • i love this man so much

him and rainn wrestling today at the independent spirit awards was the BEST moment of my life haha oh my gosh i love them, but especially phil

PHIL YOURE SEXY BABY I LOVE YOU

  • Phillip is so brilliant and cuddly *sigh*

I hope he wins another Oscar!

    Best wishes from England

  • hes brilliant. has anyone seen capote!? he COMPLETLY transformed himself. amazing actor. i have a feeling this guy is gonna win a 2nd oscar in the future.

  • philip seymour hoffman is incredible as truman capote. definately watch it if you get the chance and don't mind slow-paced, artistic film. one of the best i've ever seen.

  • Infamous sucks compared to Capote.

  • Oh, well if Rex Reed said it...
