The one thing I love about my Maine coon is that he has alot of dog personalities but is very independent like a cat. It is the perfect mix between two worlds a cat that isn't needy like a dog but is still willing to follow you around the house and keep you company.

@keegansillaf Exactly! My Maine Coon Tedy isn't affectionate but he comes greets me at the door, comes when I call him, and is usually sprawled out and chilling somewhere in the room with me. At other times he goes off by himself to meditate for hours. I like that he's a loyal companion but also has a life of his own.

They are certainly unique among felines.

My cat loves the twisty wrap around plastic thingies from gallon milk or water jugs. She loves to tip the trash can over to go fishing, too. She also loves to get a shower when I'm taking one. If I turn a faucet on in any sink, she is there to paw to her hearts content. I'm certain she has quite a bit of Maine Coon in her DNA. Her name, by the way, is Doye Moye. A bit poetic I think, but then again, Doye is poetry in motion. She rocks my world and is my best friend. Cats rule!

my main coon looks exactly like the one without the white! i got lucky and found him under the van. he was about 3 months old full of fleas skinny as a rail. i had him treated and he is healthy as ever full of love..a little un cordinated haha but they are a great breed

I'd say google for breeders in your area, or cat fancy magazine, they tend to be around 300+ from what I've seen. My friend got lucky and adopted his from a shelter.

I have 2 almost 1 year old maine coons, had them since hey were 2 weeks old. The male one acts just like this cats, climbing into boxes pretending to be invisible, sticking his head into cups and stuff. The female prefers playing soccer with anything on the floor.

coon cats are animalistic u can leave em out all winter and they will live quite comfortable(though i wouldnt recomend it, maine fishers are freakin notorius(or w/e) for killing maine cats.) i like coon cats id like to have one but i live close to the road so eh hu. last i knew theyre like 500 bucks.

try 'maine coon cat rescues' on the internet, they have great cats that just need a chance with somebody like you. I got my MC at the pound and I live right next to the road. I figure giving him a chance is better then him possiably being put down. So adopt a MC, I promise you wont regret it. They have so much personality its like having a lovable dog!
