Yup, as I push the car backwards the band is stretched and wound up. Then as I ride the car the band unwinds until halfway when it begins to wind back up slowing the car down and then going in reverse. No brakes are needed!

Useful in the sense that it shows what one can do with 80+ layers of cardboard, about 1 1/2 gallons of glue, and six 84-inch x 1-inch rubber bands - it's a real hoot to ride for both kids and adults - however its the creativity that's the best

It's a fun car which is fast enough for little children to experience on their own or on their parents laps
