Yes these craft choose areas higher in anhydrite composition. This is because anhydrite has a very high resitivity to electrical current and thus a very laminar flow of electrons pass evenly through it. This flow causes a stable electromagnetic field in certain areas that make it easier for these ufos to travel more efficient and stable. They repulse the earths magnetic field while in Low earth orbit. Thus they need areas of stable em fields to make sure their travel is balanced evenly.

The only logical reason is that the Gov't is fully aware of what is going on in the skies, that's why they don't respond to the intrusions.
