I think a little more respect is due Chris Dreja and Jim McCarty, the original Yardbirds here. It's not just because of the Big Three and singer Relf that we all came to check out this post but because of Dreja and McCary, so referring to them as Yardturds is not only disrespectful, but begs the question--why didn't anyone ask YOU to be the new Yardbirds guitar player or lead singer? If you think this edition so terrible (they're not) post the video of ur band for comparison and show the world!
This is definately "overkill"..No way this can be compared to the original Yardbirds.Ben King isn't a bad guitarist, but you cannot compare him to Clapton,Beck and Page.Only way the Yardbirds can work is have one of the original guitarist back, this is a JOKE!
This is NOT the Yardbirds, it's the Yardturds. Please Jim/Chris, it's not like innovative guitar players are hiding, there a millions of competent players who can do both old and new sounds, this guys is an amateur. The legacy of this band is in the lead players and the new techniques they developed. Please stop this now before you bury the legend with all the other money nabbing '60s shyte bands on the grab today.
For one, I make a hell of a lot more money than you and those asshats put together. Two, I wouldn't offer them my job for fear they would just fuck it up like they did in this video.
Two, nobody says yuk anymore, get with the program.
Three, don't be a youtube troll. At least I have a job...I don't need to waste my time defending a bunch of sellouts who rely on "revivals" and the support of stupid ass fanboys, like yourself, just to buy cheese.
Wow I am really impressed with this lineup for such an old band! They have managed to keep the original 60's sound without sounding like a 'knock off nostalgia band trying to sound like the originals'!!!! Thanks for sharing this eye opening vid.
Not really... some people just don't know when to let go... Chris (guitar) and Jim (drums) are from the original band. As far as this version.... Yawn.......
Soy fan de The Yardbirds desde hace mucho. Me da mucho gusto ver a los jefes Chris Dreja y Jim McCarty guiar esa maravillosa banda que siempre será The Yardbirds.
Saw Yardbirds live in June they were touring with the Zombies. Thought they were brillant but Ben King does pull some stupid faces, he looks in agony, my friend was laughing so much! Would def go and see them again, they are so good, but just a tad too loud!
The problem with the controversy that surrounds this song has always appeared rather trivial. If Page had been modest enough to actually source the original arrangement of this song this discussion wouldn't even be an issue; just like how no one talks about Bob Dylan with Jimi's "All along the Watchtower", or JJ Cale with Clapton's "Cocaine". The controversy has more to do with paper work, then music creativity.
or I shot the sherrif by Clapton instead of Marley, or Nothing compares to you by Prince instead of Sinead or Fire by Springsteen istead of Pointer Sisters...
Yardbirds were great, but on these versions, IMO they are rushing, and the timekeeping by the musicians is all over the place. BTW John Idan is an exceptional guitar player, so don't understand why he plays bass. Best thing about Yardbirds is that Jim and Chris are now earning decent money and that they get the respect and recognition from todays' musicians.
The Yardbirds NEVER called it "I'm Confused", Epic record made the mistake on the 1971(?) album Live Yardbirds Featuring J Page. I have about 6 live recordings of the Yardbirds from 68 and in every case Relf introduces the song as "Dazed and Confused".
Not true. The Yardbirds used Holmes original title Dazed and Confused from the get go. The confusion on the name is only because Epic mistitled the song, just like Epic mispelled Jim McCarty and Chris Dreja's name on their on Rave up & Overunder... record label. On every live performance that I have from the Yardbirds where they play this song Keith Relf always introduces the song as Dazed & Confused. And never I'm Confused.
guitarguy93-Sorry, I am not arguing. All I was trying to do was correct a continueing Yardbirds misinformation concerning them never calling Dazed & Confused, I'm Confused. Remember guitarguy93, I didn't tell anyone to "shut up" in my post like you did!!
It can get quite delusional reading the "great" and "god" quotes associated with all the artists of the day.
The music was excellent sure, but these were just men in the right place at the right time.
Again enjoy the music for what it is.
Hopefully these record execs will find someone else to pilfer and present it to the public because the stuff they're giving us today can only be classified as "Dog Shit"
I've seen these guys twice now at the Mohegan sun casino. Both times they ROCKED ! This is probably the only reformed band that truly gives a performance that the past members and fans would approve of. They packed them in too - long live the Yardbirds !!!!
Lets just get a few things straight here gentleman. First off this is Jimmy Page's arrangement of Dazed and Confused. Listen to the Jake Holmes version of i'm confused. Nothing a like. So stop with the B/S. He took a piece of shit and turned it into a diamond. These are Jimmy Page's riffs.
Holmes' version wasn't a piece of shit, it was just more of a folk song and for the record I personally dig the Yardbird's version on the "Live at the Anderson Theatre" album slightly better than Zeppelin's. (don't compare it to the one on youtube, it is off a German t.v. show months and months earlier, as the band got heavier and heavier by the month in the final stages).
Yeah, but Page first did it with the Yardbirds. Plant's vocals were pretty annoying a times, too though,(The "Song Remains the Same" movie has some awful moments) trying to sound like Janis Joplin or something (baby! baby!, etc. etc.)
But it is at least better than I thought it would be---ya see, at least it sounds somewhat like The Yardbirds, unlike their album from several years ago with shitheads like Slash and Steve Vai guesting on it---which is why I skipped going to the show then.
What about the Jake Holmes version? I'd like to hear that at some point. I read somewhere that the version on Jimmy Page's "Session Man Vol. #1," is actually the Jake Holmes version. And on that release, It's called "I'm so Confused" and it's credited to the "New Yardbirds! Does anyone have more information?
no...the member just didn't like the name...one night in a car keith moon said their new band would go over like a fucking lead zeppelin...so, in order to break away from the old yardbirds reputation they name it Led Zeppelin.....read hammer of the gods....most amazing zeppelin book ever!
Good guitar player. I like that version of the song its more blues based. The zeppelin version is just wicked, and diabolical sounding. Page learned a lot of stagecarft playing with the yardbirds.

Yeah, I couldn't agree with you more.
This kid isn't good at all.
I told him this & he got very sad...as did a legion of fans.
The fact that this band is "together" is disgusting.
They had no problem breaking up in 1968...?!
WHY THIS?!
This is worse than what The Who & The Stones are doing...

Dazed and Confused is NOT Page's baby. Jake Holmes wrote the song. Page has a history of stealing.
VUandChips 4 years ago 2
Page and the rest of them are the front men for the theft.
The record companies were taking advantage of the copyright laws pilfering all the soul artists of their music.
Once they stole it all the decided they would change the laws in '77 so it couldn't be stolen back. lol
There's nothing new under the sun folks. LMAO
Just enjoy the music for what it is.
