Stumbled across this joint while watching a Kwame video. I used to play this cassette single in my hatchback between classes. One of my favorites for sure.
@hiphop4life24678 I'm SAYIN. CanNOT sit still. I bot a parakeet who's just been SIITTING in his big cage. I bot him treats, toys, I let him out once a day- nothin. I put this track on---
Im from Philly, this was the years. We didnt do what NY did. We did I did our own shit. EST, Cool C Steady B. The Dancing In the videos, High Top fades. Oh Yea dont let me forget Schooly "D", the original gangster rapper in "85"
@DParker1225 Heavy D rip always danced in his vids... Doug E Fresh danced so much they named a dance after him on the west coast.... Precise Just Ice was kickin Gangsta in the early 80's..
Love this LP so much ..great beats man ...can you get more Hip Hop than this ..rocking the Sequential 440 live with one turntable! ..love to get my hands on one of those ...the only sampling drum machine that can give the SP a run for its money.
What i can't understand is why we who grew up on original hiphop hatin' on Lil' Wayne and these new kids? Real Hip Heads don't even acknowledge that crap. If my son wants to listnen to him all I can say is that is a watered down version of real hiphop. We had our time people and took alot of crap from adults who said that is just noise we were listnening too remember guys. It's their music and we had ours the difference is that our HipHop is and always will be bettter...Right???? Lol...
"E.S.T. would eventually go on to become a songwriter for artists such as Destiny's Child and Mario, and he received a Grammy nomination in 2005 for Destiny's Child's song 'Cater 2 U'."
@arobinson68 One day I was driving and listening to the radio and on one station drake was on, and on another was Cyndi Lauper's Time after Time......I chose the latter
@phillynupe87 True dat indeed. Now I could be wrong, but didn't E.S also pioneer that whole "Izzle/Izm" vocabulary that people want to credit Snoop with?
Straight kicking dope, funky fresh to the flesh, new school can't mess, with the old, true school best, they straight up pest acknickulous land lay them suckers to rest.
@rakim467 No doubt. I went to basic training the year this came out. Me and my boys would sneak our walkmen and bump this along with other great 80's hip hop. Big up Gary Harris and all my other boys in Ft. Benning the summer of 89'
Real Talk this is the JAM! Im young but still i was raised on this something serious...Especially growing up around the philly area!!!!! Let me be home and this come on the radio...Shouts out to POWER 99, 103.9, and 105.3 WDAS FM!!! Real people from out that way know what im talking about and feel what im talking bout!

I WAS LIVED ON 15TH AND ERIE AVE IN NORTH PHILLY WHEN THIS CAME OUT MY AUNT BET LIVE ACROSSED BROAD ST NEAR 13TH ST WHICH IS CALL HUNTINGTON PARK WHERE 3D (3XDOPE) I SAW THEM AT A PARTY AND THEY ROCKED THE FUCK OUT IT! STEADY B COOL C TUFF CREW LADY B POWER 99 JAZZY JEFF& THE FRESH PRINCE WAS THE SHIT THEN I'M IN NORTH KAK NOW BUT I'M PHILLY FOR LIFE!!
@iowabadkids That's straight-up, stone-cold, old-school knowledge-ass wisdom iowa!!! This is easily in my Top 5 real jams of all time!!! And I'm a 45 year-old white metal-head! But i duelly love my REAL rap jams! With a tight beat and lyrics that you can actually quote and understand!
I was thinkin' the same thing. I'm in the process of putting together a live 'ol skool hip hop cover band from the golden era. With all the wack non-inspirational hip-hop out there, there will be a re-emergence of the old skool; what I call the "real skool".
@cocheselives LMAO! I also noticed how back then, it was COOL to pay respect to black women! It was a wholesome time for hip-hop. Nowadays, EVERY song is about the DISRESPECT of black women and how many they can be premiscuous with. total polar opposite.
Big up Philly, the next New York...
