I'd rather not tune my low E up to G can I tune all my other strings down instead and use a capo somehow? It's more confusing but better for your guitar. Should've kept my cheap strat copy for this shit.
u can play this in standard tuning by playing an a chord, taking of your ring finger then b4 the verse starts just take ur index and ring finger off leaving ur middle finger on the 3rd string
@schwill81 Usually Open G is DGDGBD. But instead of tuning your low E to a D, Raise it up 1 1/2 steps to G making the tuning GGDGBD. I think he is saying to leave your high E in D like standard open G. So basically you raise your low E to G, drop your A string to G, keep the D, G, and B strings in standard, and drop your high E to D, which makes a G chord when played open.
Just wanted to say thank you so much for posting this! I've been struggling with the rhythm/slides and this really helped to put it all together for me. You sound great by the way!!
Thanks man, I finally found somebody that helped me with this song. I did not know about the different tunning. Really appreciate and keep helping us.
Not to be a stickler...but I see this incorrectly referred to as an Open G tuning over and over again. As you know, in Open G tuning the top string is tuned to D. As you correctly point out, the tuning they use here does have the top string tuned to G, however, this tuning is actually called "G Modal".
Hi, tx for your lesson! I'm trying to play Daughter in this moment. I've found that this song comes easyer if you tune your guitar in GGDGBD! Try and let me know if u want...
We really enjoy this lesson buddy for it really makes playing this song easy!! Your guitar looks stunningly beautiful and sounds great in yout video also!! My wife and I really enjoy this one, thanks!!
@TextEffect 9's will work fine. It's the low E string that is brought up to G and it can get quite tight with mediums. Another solution is to put 2 A strings on the top. :-)
I don't actually know how to write strumming patterns. In this song I think you should accentuate the downstokes. Sorry if thats not helpfull, I play intuatively and don't analyse my playing all that much.
wow. sweet

very nice. wonder if we could pull this one off live - one acoustic with open G no problem - wondering about the other guitar part.
