I don't mean this as an insult, but it seems to me like anyone with half a brain can tell that they are nothing alike, and thus uncomparable. I like Chris Rea's voice (and original song) better, but I wouldn't presume to say he has a better voice than Brooks for the above reason. When a man covers this song, then I'll compare voices. Till then, Brooks has the best female voice for this song.

Ms Brooks has that touch of greatness in her voice: she can control it and deliver great pathos in a ballad, and she can kick down the walls when she rocks! A wonderful talent such as hers truly shows the shallow money-oriented path that most record companies follow. I have been a fan since Vinegar Joe and have heard very few voices that even come close.
