I've loved this song ever since I first heard it on the "Italy after Dark" C.D which I found in 1997. But, I've never known what the lyrics meant..POW!!!! What a revelation!!!!! SUPERB!!!! i shall sing it in the shower with even MORE gusto now! (p.s. i still love the ladies thou'..even at my age! (54).
I listen to Buti & wonder couldn't be there's any one better in the world. I've listened to all the great to find - yes! There's nobody there. Although wait... may be in the Heaven.
:) Best version I've heard! Weird lyrics, though...it's about a guy who's happy about breaking up with his girlfriend?! O.O Gee, it reminds me of the hilarious country song "I Got a Brand New Girlfriend".
a summary of the lyrics: 'finally, after having listened to all your jealous tirades, your insane questioning, and stupid comments about how much you love me and trust me, finally, I am rid of you and I can smile again and live life to the fullest without your jealousy. I am free!

The voice of Carlo Buti is like water in the middle of a desert. Those who laugh
do not understand how his voice flowed freely without strain. He understood the voice and all it was blessed to do.The sound that people hear today are similar to the sound of GOATS. They have accepted it and they will never understand.
"A thing of beauty is a joy forever". Carlo FOREVER!!!!
How fortunate we are to have this gorgeous voice to enjoy. Let's make sure
that all our family and friends get to hear this wonderful sound. And as the song says " Let us live and live more while we are stll young enough to enjoy".
Hola estaria inmensamente agradecido si alguien me puede decir como conseguir la cancion "Agata" por Carlo Buti... hace ya años q la estoy buscando, muchas gracias
Hello I'm from Uruguay I will be very gratful if someone could tell me how i can find the song "Agata" by Carlo Buti, I think he song it n 15/09/1937 . I am searching this song for my italian granfather who has been searching this song for years Tahanks
Pavarotti? Schippa? Both Maestro's to be sure! But, NO ONE! NO ONE, had the "color" in his voice that was borne by Carlo Buti. That is why he was known as Italy's "Golden Voice." I first heard his "Vivere" a few years ago. .."OMIGOD!!!" No one has ever moved my heart and soul that way with a song. I once listened to it non-stop on a drive from NW Indiana to St. Louis, MO. I would love to have a transliteration of every word. .... THIS IS MYYYYY SONG! Ohhhh my!
Oh how beautiful! I am so taken! As for the most part this is what I imagined the song to be saying. Granted it is from the perspective of a man in his observation of the moment, but I think the point is well taken as it applies "across the board!" I like to think that for every ending, there is a new beginning. Perhaps this is what I so clearly felt when first I heard the song? It reaches deep into my heart, therein to touch my very soul. Thank you for your wonderful translation. STMARGO ....
brings me back to my childhood listening to my parents singing this song with such heart and passion.. thank you for taking me back to a womderful time in my life
Thank you for posting this beautiful song! I learned it as a child from my father, and yet I had never really paid much attention to the lyrics. Now, reading your excellent translation I realize how wonderfully joyful and funny they are! Giovanna :-)
Thanks to Titus, I can never hear this song again without thinking of Anthony Hopkins serving human pies.
