Lactate Threshold is also a major factor. So is economy of effort. Economy of velocity is another one. Ability to mentally withstand pain. Correct pacing. Its alot more then having a large heart dude. The 3 systems aerobic, lactic and anaerobic all have to be at the optimum level for elite performance.
