  • I don't cry for the regime of Konstantin Päts. He was no democrat. He served under authoritarian regimes and made sure that left-wing people were silenced ( mostly during the authoritarian years ).

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were bourgeoisie dictatorships. Nations were people with money ruled. Stalin replaced the dictatorship of capitalism with a dictatorship of one party. I consider Stalin a criminal, but the regimes of the Baltic were far short of genuine democratic.

  • I wish Molotov would have drank a lit cocktail, if you know what I mean. OUCH! Punk commie.

  • Thank you for posting this series on the recent history of Estonia. I knew only the very basic history of the region but with the film and recollections, I know much more about the period. I look forward the remainder. BTW, kudos on your YouTube name...best wishes from USA

  • @Dullborn wow ..why do you watch baltic states history?:P.

    best wishes from estonia .

  • @MrEestimaa Most studies here in USA give the occupation by both the Soviets and the Nazis just a passing mention, if any at all. The Baltic people and the Poles were treated very badly by both. Judging from the comments, many wounds are still raw and it pains me that the horrors and sacrifice of our parents and grandparents (on both sides) seem to have been in vain.

The area looks to be beautiful with a long history. I wish the best to Estonia and her people and to the other countries as well.

  • @Dullborn yup many young people in Estonia are very angry at russia policy and very much dislike russian goverment....And it pisses off estonians that people always talk about nazis ,when instead soviet rule killed way more people over 20 mil people got killed by soviets...

  • @MrEestimaa Just done watching "The German Years." I was wondering if there are any Estonian war movies...The Finns have done a great job telling their story. The fact that Estonians were forcibly conscripted by both sides (and had to fight each other) would make for some very interesting dramatic possibilities...

  • Those were the days...

  • On June 14, 1941, when mass deportations took place simultaneously in all three Baltic countries, about 10,000 Estonian civilians were deported to Siberia and other remote areas of the Soviet Union, where nearly half of them later perished.

  • @hitlerkaput1981 We fought in 1919 and we won russians, after that we had our country, our military was huge but our president was a traitor, he gave us to russians..

People started partisan war in woods.

  • @hitlerkaput1981 Lol you brainwashed you couldn't come out of it.. If you talked in Estonian you were executed.

  • @Chaillzz

what a total bullshit! All legal documents in ENSV were in both estonian and russian! Street signs were in both estonian and russian. Education was in both languages also. I think you should be executed for talking too much unjustified shit!

  • @hitlerkaput1981 It was later, when Soviet Union were weak lol..

  • @Chaillzz

bull crap, i have an array of legal documents from 1960-1961. There is more estonian language than russian. in 1960's soviets were not weak at all. (flight to space, economical boom in USSR, etc.)

  • @Chaillzz

I see that you are a nationalistic estonian shit talker. There are cool estonians, good friends, and there are also dirt bags like yourself who just talks shit about russians.

  • @hitlerkaput1981 I'll stop until our russians start talking our country mother tounge and accept us.

  • @Chaillzz

humans have rights to live where they want and speak language they want. You have no right to tell them otherwise. If you do, you are no better than those soviets who came to estonia in 1940's and started punishing for not speaking russian (according to you, which i know is total bullshit)

  • @hitlerkaput1981 If they come to shop and they demand sellers to talk in russian, everywhere they go.. They don't even try to talk in Estonians, How long they have lived here..

  • @Chaillzz

well, this is market economy. Sellers have the right to either not understand them or not to sell them merchandise, since they don't understand what they want. But in reality sellers and store owners don't care who they sell goods to, as long as they get their money. Only sick nazis like yourself will complain.

  • President Pats was a Coward and TRAITOR! There is NO EXCUSE For His Actions in giving our country up to be Destroyed! The Estonian Army should have fought! Pats should have gone to London, and spoke up to the World clearly stating that Estonia does not want to become part of a soviet union.

  • The Terroristic takeover occoured because "Good men did Nothing" Those Good men were really not good. The Estonian President and General Laidoner actions were cowardly and treasoness. I blame them rightfully so. The Armed Forces Of Estonia should have resisted the take over! NO EXCUSE!

  • I am Estonian and am ashamed at the pre war Estonian governments actions. They were TREASON. There is NO EXCUSE Why The Estonian President Pats of Commander Laidoner could not have resisted the Soviet Take over. It was an act of Terrorism and The Estonian Governments in actions were Cowardly and Treason!

  • TO MY FELLOW ESTONIANS, STOP WORSHIPPING PRESIDENT PATS LIKE HE IS A god. PATS WAS A COWARD HIS ACTIONS ARE TREASON. THERE IS NO REASON WHY HE DID NOT LEAVE THE COUNTRY AND ORDER THE ARMY TO FIGHT. HE DID NOT HAVE TO GIVE IN TO EVERY SOVIET DEMAND. HE SHOULD HAVE GONE TO LONDON AND SPOKE UP TELLING THE WORLD THAT ESTONIA DOES NOT WANT TO BE A PART OF THE SOVIET UNION, THIS IS TERRORISM! WAKE UP MY FELLOW ESTONIANS, AND SHED THE SLAVE MENTALITY BLAME PATS FOR WHAT HE DID!

  • russians were bastards, stole our Päts, and never gave back

  • @tsilll

Pats was a COWARD and TRATIOR There is no EXCUSE For His Actions He Gave Estonia away. Pats should not have given into any soviet demands, which were Terrorism. Pats should have gone to London and opened his moth telling the world that Estonia wants to remain free not become a part of the Soviet Union.

  • A profoundly sad time.

To this date the Estonian coast on the Baltic has always been a most attractive pot of honey for difficult neighbors from the East. Nothing has changed in this century from the East, with little hope of help from the West.

    Most and profoundly sad..................

  • Yeah, right, Balts (you mean mostly certain Latvians - the Red Schooters) were so many and so powerful in Russia. :D

The problem of Russia was that the Russian people (used to terror and serfdom) were not educated nor really ready to resist any authorities. Russians were more than Balts. Think how were the Russians and why they were so miserable before you blame those few Balts for everything.

  • If we had resisted, Russia would have declared us a war and the country Estonia would have ended to exist, we didn't have a change against Russia

  • @hennuv

you and your comments are part of the problem. You have like so many Estonians do a defeatist/slave mentality. the Russians/Germans both know this and took advantage of this. PATS WAS A DICTATIOR WHO COMMITED TREASON HE WAS A COWARD. The Soviets and Nazis, both Destroyed Estonia, it would have been worth fighting the soviet takeover, this ay the Russians could never say, we voted to become part of their hell camp. Wake Up. People like you are a worse enemy than Russians!

  • Uskumatult loll jutt härra Pätsilt selles olukorras tuleb tunnistada.

  • who u calling a NAZI?

  • I wish peace for Estonia and all of europe...but be ever vigiliant!
