Ed's good at tapping,bending,harmonic pinching,pull offs and alot of general tweaking and with the floyd rose but I think his weakness is his lack off heart and sence of melody. How many catchy Van Halen songs have you heeard lately? He's in dire need of sobrity than mabee the heart will come back to his playing. In my humble opinion I think thats what it all comes down to, is Ed needs to get and stay clean and sober cuz he is a great lead guitarist.

My family and I spent well over $400 for great seats to watch him play when he went through Boston (1997). They played 2 songs...TWO, and then left the stage for the night. The 15,000+ devout fans were so disappointed and appalled that they rushed the stage and destroyed the whole stadium. I was only 16 at the time and this was my hero. THEN not but a couple of months later, I heard he did they did it AGAIN in Mexico City. They/He has a looong track record of doing this. It's sad and f'd up

He's only F'ing around on an unknown guitar, an impromptu, almost forced exhibition. Those present were lucky to witness it. Had it been a prepared event he would've left the people with there jaws wide open, even today. Eddie is bored with the "usual",he is constantly getting different sounds out of his guitars, HE IS AWESOME. One of the most original since Hendrix. (Note I say one of the most,I know tons of you will be coming back with all sorts of greats, but most likely EDDIE inspired them.)
