I have both. I only use the PS3 for Netflix and Bluray. Online gaming is the deciding factor here for me. PS3 has free online gaming and you get what you pay for; nothing but hacked lobbies and lagging game play. This is a fact. I have played the same games online on both consoles (COD's mostly). If you remove online gaming from the equation then XBOX has no real advantage though. But who doesn't play online?

Let me tell you something the blu ray in the ps3 in cheap. there isnt that big of a difference from blu ray and normal dvd. You need an expensive blu ray player to actually notice something significantly different. and why would you brag about blu ray? its not good unless you have a good one with with a big ass tv and surround sound. About cross platform games, in older games it is very true that they look better on XBOX, but as technology progresses it gets easier to develop for the ps3 and you see less and less difference.
jag xbox 360 owns live updates in 2 seconds while ps3 has updates that can last 4 20 mins as well as disc downloading. xbox 250g elite console in australia is $299 au dollars with games and controler and headset ps3 sucks cause the only 2 cool games are heavy rain and cod which isnt that good anyway. and yes blue ray is unneccasry for gaming
And faster updates are unnecessary for gaming too. I'd prefer slower updates and a blu ray player than the Xbox and it's constant disc switches and mediocre graphic exclusives.

the difference is that the data on the dvd that is inserted into the pc is compressed which the pc uncompresses making the textures and such on the disk a higher resolution

Dudes, it doesn't matter which is best. I've played all three, and all three are good. I got xbox 360, but I don't go around on the internet saying it's better than wii and ps3, at least not anymore. Jon4lakers did his research on the cpu and all that other stuff, but its up to you to decide. I didn't get the 360 because I'm a fanboy, I got it because I wanted it. The PS3 is optimized to use Blu-ray to help out the RSX. The reasons you listed aren't good explanations as to why alot of multiplatform games use twice the space on the PS3. The extra space *most of the time* is used for texture streaming and for making the frame-rate steadier. Blu-ray on the PS3 has an advantage when it comes to cinematic-type games like MGS4 and FFXIII, which require alot more space. But even then disc swaps aren't as bad as PS3 fanboys keep making it. Big deal.
Well in an age where technological advancement is taking place, I say the more convenient things are made, the better. Discs swaps shouldn't be for 7th generation gaming.
And the disadvantages of having games such as FFXIII on multiple discs as I have said, is that i order to save money, They put the game on the least amount of discs possible by compressing visuals AND audio. And no, FFXIII will be 32 GB, not 40GB.
Dude, stop using FFXIII as your only example. FFXIII was PORTED to the Xbox 360. Not developed, PORTED. Even if the X360 used Blu-ray the quality loss would still be apparent.
The FFXIII arguement is as shallow as me using Bayonetta to declare that the Xbox 360 is better.
The only BIG advantage I see with Blu-ray is with pre-rendered cutscenes. Pre-rendered cutscenes (which FFXIII use) eat up ALOT of space on a DVD.
Ok fine, taking FFXIII out of the argument, Blu-ray allows game developers more variety. Your not limited due to space boundaries. Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, and Uncharted are prime examples of games that fully utilize the blu-ray. Ever notice MGS4, and Uncharted 2 winning GOTY lately? By using the blu-ray and the PS3 as it was meant to be, you get epic games such as those.

My arguement this entire time has not been about how Blu-ray holds BACK the PS3, it's about how the PS3 holds back Blu-ray. MGS4 needed to be compressed onto 50 GBs merely because Kojima used to much pre-rendered cutscenes.

Microsoft has created a new testing engine with 2 GBs of RAM. It's called the X-Engine. It will help developers get better results off of the Xbox 360 in the future. Hence Alan Wake.

Compression leads to bad audio, screen tearing, etc. And does it matter if PS3 uses 2 - 3 times the spaces when they still got space left? Plus, the 2 - 3 times the space could be used for as you said, texture streaming and FPS.
And I do agree that the 360 handles compression fine, as I have GTA4 on my 360 and have nothing to complain about. But that also means that the 360 has no potential to make games that are actually 7th gen.
And quite frankly, it is NOT a big deal. Getting up every 20 hours to change a disc is nothing to complain about. And that's if you plan on finishing FFXIII on your first sitting.
With the PS3's architecture, Sony has much more variety of what they can make while the 360 has is very limited. The reason no really takes advantage of the PS3's hardware is because it is either too expensive, or game developers don't wanna move on as stated by techno buffalo in previous rounds.
But when Game developers actually take advantage of the PS3's potential, you get games such as MGS4, GOWIII, FFXIII (Uncompressed) UNcharted 1 and 2, Gran Turismo, etc.
Pretty sure DVD is cheaper than Blu-ray. I'm not positive though. I think it would only be more expensive if you have 3-4 DVDs instead of one Blu-ray, though.

lol fail, you install Pc games directly onto the harddrive which means half the loading and texture rendering is done directly from the HDD. Ps3 and 360 have to read data directly off the disc, thus they' have technical limitations. Fail boi, Fail

I have both. I only use the PS3 for Netflix and Bluray. Online gaming is the deciding factor here for me. PS3 has free online gaming and you get what you pay for; nothing but hacked lobbies and lagging game play. This is a fact. I have played the same games online on both consoles (COD's mostly). If you remove online gaming from the equation then XBOX has no real advantage though. But who doesn't play online?

Let me tell you something the blu ray in the ps3 in cheap. there isnt that big of a difference from blu ray and normal dvd. You need an expensive blu ray player to actually notice something significantly different. and why would you brag about blu ray? its not good unless you have a good one with with a big ass tv and surround sound. About cross platform games, in older games it is very true that they look better on XBOX, but as technology progresses it gets easier to develop for the ps3 and you see less and less difference.

The PS3 is optimized to use Blu-ray to help out the RSX. The reasons you listed aren't good explanations as to why alot of multiplatform games use twice the space on the PS3. The extra space *most of the time* is used for texture streaming and for making the frame-rate steadier. Blu-ray on the PS3 has an advantage when it comes to cinematic-type games like MGS4 and FFXIII, which require alot more space. But even then disc swaps aren't as bad as PS3 fanboys keep making it. Big deal.

Well in an age where technological advancement is taking place, I say the more convenient things are made, the better. Discs swaps shouldn't be for 7th generation gaming.
And the disadvantages of having games such as FFXIII on multiple discs as I have said, is that i order to save money, They put the game on the least amount of discs possible by compressing visuals AND audio. And no, FFXIII will be 32 GB, not 40GB.

Dude, stop using FFXIII as your only example. FFXIII was PORTED to the Xbox 360. Not developed, PORTED. Even if the X360 used Blu-ray the quality loss would still be apparent.
The FFXIII arguement is as shallow as me using Bayonetta to declare that the Xbox 360 is better.
The only BIG advantage I see with Blu-ray is with pre-rendered cutscenes. Pre-rendered cutscenes (which FFXIII use) eat up ALOT of space on a DVD.

Stop changing the subject please. It does not lack graphical potential. The Xenos is clearer better and the CPU is easier to work with so that developers can get quicker results.

"architecture". Okay, you wanna know something SO funny? Most modern PC graphics cards use UNIFIED architectures. Just like the Xbox 360. UNIFIED architectures are not only easier to work with, but better in most cases.
Back on topic. Each architecture can be utilized in different ways. Uncharted was optimized for the PS3. But games like Alan Wake look just as good. Talk out of that.

If we can already tell how amazing the game will look based off of compressed youtube videos, then I can already tell you that the game will be on-par with anything the PS3 has. Graphics wise ofcourse. I can't judge the actaul game but it does look promising.

Well honestly, if we were argueing about graphics back in 2008. You would be in my situation right now. You would have said "just wait dude and you will be suprised". Graphics evolve overtime. I remember thinking that Gears 1 was the best looking game ever. And now look how games have evolved (on both platforms).
Microsoft has created a new testing engine with 2 GBs of RAM. It's called the X-Engine. It will help developers get better results off of the Xbox 360 in the future. Hence Alan Wake.

Compression leads to bad audio, screen tearing, etc. And does it matter if PS3 uses 2 - 3 times the spaces when they still got space left? Plus, the 2 - 3 times the space could be used for as you said, texture streaming and FPS.
And I do agree that the 360 handles compression fine, as I have GTA4 on my 360 and have nothing to complain about. But that also means that the 360 has no potential to make games that are actually 7th gen.

Multi-discing is 360's answer to Blu-ray.
And quite frankly, it is NOT a big deal. Getting up every 20 hours to change a disc is nothing to complain about. And that's if you plan on finishing FFXIII on your first sitting.

With the PS3's architecture, Sony has much more variety of what they can make while the 360 has is very limited. The reason no really takes advantage of the PS3's hardware is because it is either too expensive, or game developers don't wanna move on as stated by techno buffalo in previous rounds.
But when Game developers actually take advantage of the PS3's potential, you get games such as MGS4, GOWIII, FFXIII (Uncompressed) UNcharted 1 and 2, Gran Turismo, etc.

I personally wouldn't mind a disk swap, I know it is not that bad.
The only reason I would ever complain is because 360 fanboys constantly say the Ps3 coding is unhandy for devs.
Whereas producing on 2 disks basically doubles production costs for devs, as MS charges them for the extra disk.

Pretty sure DVD is cheaper than Blu-ray. I'm not positive though. I think it would only be more expensive if you have 3-4 DVDs instead of one Blu-ray, though.
Whatever, it's still 60 dollars either way.

The phrase,"The PS3 has no games!" was used back when PS3 first hit the market with only a couple of games out. Now look at our selection, not only the exclusives but the multi platform games too. There are plenty of games that are playable on the system. That phrase no longer applies. It's only used by xbots to try and win an argument. We HAVE games now.

Yeah sure Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 may be good but i want a Console that i can sit back, relax and enjoy gaming with FRIENDS and a great online experience. Xbox 360 delivers that to me, it's just a much more multiplayer focused console with great multiplayer exlusives. Microsoft fixed the Red Ring of Death with new models and offer 3 year warranty anyway out of the box, so PS3 fanboys stop with lame old excuse that Red Ring of Death affects every 360 console manufactured ever. Not true.

lol fail, you install Pc games directly onto the harddrive which means half the loading and texture rendering is done directly from the HDD. Ps3 and 360 have to read data directly off the disc, thus they' have technical limitations. Fail boi, Fail

its simply stupid to think that dvd is better the bluray. how many games have been affected by the dvds capacity? Final Fantasy XII big time. they had to delete all this things and it was already on 3 discs for the 360!! anyone heard the recent news of lost planet 2 losing significant content becouse they were trying to cram it all into 1 dvd. they are going to be released later as dlc. and dvds isnt what makes the pc have great graphics!!. bluray is obiously better for games
