  • A pretender if ever i heard one...good player... ...but... ... lose the "closet" thing huh!

  • you need to change the text of this video, or delete it.. even if you don't know anything about Django, it takes about 1 second to hear that the recording is too modern

  • this is not Django you dickhead!!!

  • It's a Romane cover, indeed :-)

  • @joeycorleone you can hear it in the tone! as well as the way he improvises :)

  • You know I was pissed off cause my skyrim torrent is 90% finished forever and my high is wasting away, and this cheered me up.

  • 60 people really know who Django was...

  • No doubt - this is NOT Django - and this is NOT his band.

Still sounds decent, but his version is much better.

  • fuck you

  • NOT DJANGO Playing !!!!

  • I don't think that's Django playing.

  • Eddy van Halen, no?

  • He is not Django! Just an average player.

  • @dimitrislagos "Just an average player" can't play or sound like this.

  • What sort of person does this? rename it!

  • I agree, he's not here to defend his musical integrity......it should be noted that this is not he!

  • Maybe not Django, but its his song.

  • I tend to agree, this is not Django, it's too clear for a start and unless someone has remasterd the originals. It's very good though, very good. The clarity of the drums gives it away

  • @feldmannpaul and the reverb on the guitar. Or was there multi tracking and effects units in the forties?? ;)

  • this is johnny cash, obviously.

  • @Nerudah LOL

  • it could be chet atkins and buddy rich and I'll still close my eyes and say..."ahhh.."

  • lol, everybody yelling this is not him, THEN TELL WHO FUCK IS THIS! goddammit, i dont give a fuck whos playing, just listen....

  • wack sukkaz...

  • sounds like a digital recording anyway fair play to whoever it is anyhoooo

  • And Im Queen Elizabeth the 1st.

  • Does anybody know if there are drums on this track? or is it just rythm guitar?

  • @muzieksamurai

there are drums in this, they just don't sound like typical drums because they are being played with brushes instead of regular drum sticks

  • Djang-No

  • Sorry boys,The first few notes, alone give it away,Not !! how Django played it,My Dad(by chance) looked the spitting image of Django,Slicked back hair& played his records hundreds of times over in mid -to late 50's...I was in a Big-School Orchestra (fiddle player) at only 8yrs of age, with very sharp ears & completely steeped in it as a boy .So believe me!!- this version, although experienced players-do not have that "Real Gypsy feel"- Johnny Jorgenson does a very good job on his version though.

  • damn it False advertisement

  • The intro is just hideous

  • NOT DJANGO! False advertising! IF you would have put the name of the group, it would have better reviews.

  • django or not django this is beautiful!

  • magnifique

  • Actually this sounds like a re-make of a "Nuages" recording that D.R. did with an orchestra in Belgium.

That particular record was very heavy on the brass/woodwind section and Djangos solos were suppressed like this one.

I recently got a CD called " Django & his American Friends" and i'm certain Django must have been very jetlagged during that one because he was missing notes all over the place. ( VERY rare for Django). Reinhardt was the ultimate guitar player...no doubt about it.

  • not Django, a modern cover

  • c'est quand meme de la bonne musique.....non?

  • This is a cover... not a good one

  • its pixar music but django kicks ass in this hole thing

  • Ὥραιότατο.

  • it is far from Django

  • This is not Django !

    or...

This is Django annd his "hot club" having absorbed 3 boxes of sleeping tablets

    (lol)

  • fake¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¿¿¡¡

  • nice one,but.......IT ISN´T DJANGO!!!!!!!!!

  • O.o this is not django!

  • if u think this isn't django hit "dislike"

  • Gipsy Kings play this piece very good

  • fucking impostors...

  • this is not django

  • Rockston11, why don't you upload your original track.

    Disprove this video.

    Can you?

  • @oczoxvii

Reply to him if you want a response.

  • 16 loser.

  • this is the rhythm futur by django too not nuages

  • @MrFrancisAlexis no this is Nuages

  • @MrFrancisAlexis Nah, you are wrong. Only the beginning is from Rythme Future.

  • i like that this song is about weed

  • Absolutely NOT Django, but not a bad player...

  • NOT DJANGO!

  • Obviously this is not Django playing...

    Is it Romane?

I sounds a little like the guy who recorded the django songs for "Sweet and lowdown"

  • I don't think so, no energy or spark. Nice but nothing compares to the man himself.

  • relaxing.....

  • Use my strong hand child.... lolol

  • Not Django. Stylistically all wrong.

  • en plus d'avoir ete et de rester un des plus grands guitaristes , a cette epoque c'etait de la vrai musique !!! c mon jugement bien entendu

  • the Hot Quintet of France started this song out as I've heard the original recording with the Clarinette I have no idea who is playing this but it does not sound like any performance I've heard of. My Dad, Oscar DiGregorio, in the opinion of most that heard him, played his style and I know the differences cause I heard it all my life..the little improvisations this artist puts in are not typical of Reinhardt and the sound of the guitar is not his...nor is the vibrato with this artist.

    django

  • I am not sure WTF this is, but it is NOT the original. Mine is on a Jazz compilation album from the 50s. The amazing part about the original is how the guitar comes alive as if a treble pick up were switched on yet we know that he either used an Archtop or that Maceferri made for Selmer.

  • this aint django but it sure does kick ass!

  • I have been listening since 1950 to Django and I am unsure about this. Can't say for definite. I don't think it's Django. Some of the nuances are missing. So I can't rule it out.

  • mm Is a good song, anyone has the score?

  • straight up mafia shit!

  • not django

  • HE IS GYPSY

  • Jacopi absolutely not D Reinhardt Im listening to him since the 60ies when I found his records. The only thing genuine here is the photo from Charles Delauneys book

    tangodancer

  • the song title is french.

Nuages means cloud, or cloudy. :)

    J'aime des nuages...♥

  • Haha I wish we had recordings of Django this Crisp.

  • Incontournable !

    Séduisant Django !

  • that what i thought ego what is the point!.

  • hes a gypsy for christ sake that is his fortae

  • Comment removed

  • another great french(django was from belgique) bireli lagreen fantastic

  • ok, hands up, it's just me foolin around

  • That's not Django.

  • Professor Rex is right. Good recording but its not Django.

Jacopoi should tell who playes here

  • This is not django. It's from a Romane method. Nice version though!:)

  • I don't know if it is or isn't Django, but the back up band doesn't sound like his usual group. Not enough rhythm guitar.

  • And the lead guitar doesn't sound like Django either.

  • so much feel..... its so beautiful.... the only true "JAZZ" man..... feel is not compromised by the desire to be novel here....

  • This is not django !

  • YOU LIAR LIAR ://////

  • @lig12 Prove it.

  • Knowing the original recording like the back of my hand I can't stand to listen to this. The bending is all wrong. Django didn't over-do anything.

  • No its not Django. It is a copy of the 1940 recording of Nuages, though some nice playing.

  • Easy now, dudes! Listen! This track is great! Damn right it is, just you listen!

  • This is NOT Django.

But I suppose even after this deception, I'll forgive and listen anyway.

  • Not Django, but nice to hear anyway.

  • @iltizzone Prove it.

  • @ eamonia: Prove you exist

  • this sounds more like a bootleg he plays way way better than this

  • this is a different verison than the one you've probably heard on djangology, the gypsy genius. but, take a close listen to both. it shouldn't be long till you realize how great this verison actually is.

  • rockston11: then, perhaps, you can upload the original track, please.

  • I have the original track of this....all I can say is, this is definitely NOT Django. This is a cover, for sure, and listen to his finger styling, it's nothing like Django, it's purely emulated. Also, it's produced much differently. And I think it might even be live.

  • i agree with that.. and it's sooo obvious - just listen to the bendings! then maybe it's just my impression, but at 2:08 it seems that there's a second guitar coming in which solos to 2:32.

PLEASE CHECK THE SONG INFORMATION AND CORRECT IT, JACOPO.

    grazie e saluti. tony

  • @rockston11

also theres a great big bum note inthe bass @ 1.13!! (would not have been allowed!)

also lack of feelage and experience in the impros...good try though!

  • @rockston11 of course man. This recording sounds like a 90's recording, maybe even 2000, judging the quality.

  • @2ManyNoobs

Yeah. Although, a lot of Django's stuff has been remastered.

    ...Too many bends too.

  • @rockston11 yeah you are right. Although remastering doesn't get the noise off the recording and doesn't get the quality as good as this :)

  • @rockston11 Could you post the real one?? I'm dying to hear it!

  • @HoodooDot

Sorry, I have a glitch or something. Every time I add a video, it's deleted within seconds...no matter what computer.

However, I can recommend that you buy any of his discs or records at any music shop that is worthy enough to sell Django's miscellaneous. :)

Nuages is one of his hits. It should be a cinch to find on a compact if you don't already have it.

  • Comment removed

  • @rockston11 yep , it's not Django . Good cover though ... perhaps it's bireli lagrène ? Wild guess , perhaps i'm wrong and say crap . Anyway . Go listen to Bireli . much more interesting than my comment !

  • @rockston11 who gives a shit

  • @melkon1an obviously you do!:P

  • Superb Django. Penso di lui quando guardo le nuvole dal mio giardino ascoltando questo, grazie a te. Thankyou so much for posting. Auguri

  • yeux noires aussi

  • I'm pretty sure this is Zlacho (aka Blatcho) Reinhardt.

  • I don't think this is Django.

  • this is not... nothing sounds like him. i mean the tape is like a « fake old timer »...

  • Is this an alive version? Thanks for share it! I love Django

  • Django recorded ' Nuages' 11 times !! I have been listeneing to Django for the past 40 years !! and I cannot accept recording as being Django !! The Django syle is there !! but when you get used over the years to listening to someone you really like you will be aware of all the little nuances !! Also the backing group is not the ' Hot Club' I play Django myself for years albeit in my own and humble way !! and I know Django from the first note !! however the guitar player is very good!!

  • tappytoto: You have good ears!

This is a great guitarist BUT it's definitely NOT Django. The version is too modern..the drummer is not typical of the HCOF. I have every version of "Nuages" that Reinhardt did...i've been collecting records since 1965.

  • Comment removed

  • Django 4 ever. 5*****

  • merveilleux django

  • I don't hear any of Django's trademark vibrato. I have my doubts. I've heard at least 8 different recordings of "Nuages" and each have completely different solos. It's not likely that he copped his own solo so closely.

  • spicy321: You're correct! So many people have done this tune over the years. This sounds like Charlie Byrd.

Stochelo Rosenberg's version comes the closest to Django (according to Djangos son Babik) Nonetheless this IS a superb version but lacks the unique emotion that only Django provides.

  • incredibly good quality-is it restored?

  • You all have it wrong. I've been listening to Django or years. That is him. He made many versions and recordings of Nuages and this is just one of them. Trust me, it is him.

  • THIS IS NOT DJANGO!

I was brought up playing and listening to him before I could even walk so I can assure you it aint the original....

  • yeah, i dont think this is django playing. the solo is exactly transposed from a real django performance. how could django play the same solo twice?

  • Stereo?

  • This recording sounds remarkably modern...the playing is excellent...but the recording itself doesn't sound like it is from django's era 27' - 53'. Are you sure this is Django? Listen to the detail in the drums and bass, hard to believe this was recorded during acoustic era django...which ended around 47'.

  • サイコー^^

  • *tear... so beautiful

wish I could find accurate tabs for this

  • my guitar teacher has it pretty accurate in a django book ill find out the name for you if you want

  • i would love this book

  • @OpethRuleAll whats the name

  • love this. fkin awesome.

  • For the D'Jango Reinhardt enthusiasts out there you must do yourselves a favor

and check out a young man from Germany names JOSCHO STEPHAN.

The man is BRILLIANT and the best of the Gypsy Jazz guitarists since D'Jango

himself!! D'Jango was the innovator of the Gypsy Jazz technique; Joscho Stephan has refined it to perfection! Long live the Gypsy Jazz guitarists....

  • no, Django innovated and perfected gypsy jazz

  • I did give D'Jango Reinhardt credit as the INNOVATOR of the Gypsy Jazz technique! If you haven't heard Joscho Stephan play then you should!! He is BRILLIANT and the best Gypsy Jazz guitarists SINCE the late great D'Jango Reinhardt. Stephan has truly refined D'Jango's technique and he deserves credit for it; and for keeping Gypsy Jazz guitar music alive. Don't knock him until you've heard him play! D'Jango himself would 've been proud of Joscho Stephan's contributions to Gypsy Jazz guitar.

  • just cränk :) uber cool ;D

  • Beautiful.

  • stunning

  • this aint django

  • nuages means clouds in french speak

  • Django is magic !

  • just be glad he was around man...what ever he did..he left great music to listen to

  • Doesn't sound like him? Plus the recording itself. Doesn't sound very 40s if you ask me- the treble and bass response are to great, i seriously doubt the authenticity of this recording...

  • the recording was remastered

  • Microphones of the day were not capable of that level of fidelity, remaster or not. You can't remaster what wasn't there to begin with. Either someone is splicing newly recorded instruments into old or this is a fake. That or this is remastery beyond anything i've heard on- not just any Django recording but ANY recording of the period, and that's after the compression everything goes through on youtube. I can't know for sure without hearing the ACTUAL recording, but this seems too high fidelity.

  • i cant argue with that but i wouldnt be so quick to pass it off as a fake

  • Damn Splicers!

  • Every time I hear nice old jazz I think Bioshock. Lol.

  • +1.

  • Biocock.

    +2

  • Biocock?

  • Just listen to the phrasing, no chance of that being Django. You are right about the bandwidth too, far to high for the time.

  • That's not only Django - he WROTE the piece!! Notice the 2 withered fingers on his left hand. He played great despite them.

  • all he is doing is playing a melody to a song over some other guitarists chords? what? you were definitely correct about this starting an argument but i suppose everyones entitled to their own opinion however stupid it and they might be. in my humble opinion my friend, you suck.

  • Listen to the stuff he did with Stephan Grapelly. Django was an awesome musician. I am a sax player and Django, Kenny Burrell, and Wes Montgomery are major influences for me. I'm sorry they can't play Angus Young licks.

  • rdnzl1: You, Sir, have exquisite taste in music. I first heard Django 50 yrs ago. Burrell, Wes, George Benson, Tal Farlowe, Lenny Breau, Chet Atkins..even BB King all rate Django. Wes copied Django's octave style..Tal copied his bell harmonics. Nobody though has ever had to contend with facing severe left hand deformity after over a year in a plaster caste. Most other guitarists would've given up. God knows how Django did it!

  • Cut him some slack guys that's probably one of the most polite comments I've seen on youtube. The big deal about Django depends on the fan.I don't know anyone that can play his solos with four fingers, much less two.He couldn't read or write music until Grappelli taught him,it's like he pulled this stuff out of thin air. I generally think it's silly to say it but I'd like to see anyone do that, especially at that time. During WWII, jazz was banned and people like Django were sent to death camps.

  • KillerHippy: That's true! I'm just reading Martin Taylors autobio where he mentions the 25 yrs he spent knowing & playing beside Grappelli. I don't think Django ever learnt to read or write. Got others to sign his autograph. You won't believe some of the stories! In one Stephane completely thrashed a hotel room in Bavaria during a Nazi rally. Stephane was well over 70 yrs old at the time. Stephane & Django were unique.

  • sounds like someone who's used the tabbed version that appeared in total guitar magazine(uk), a good few years back now. Anyone remember what issue? (i think it was around issue 40-ish)
