  • The singer form Right Said Fred is playing the bass!!

  • I am not a Bowie fan but I have loved this video ever since it came out. It is fun to see David act dorky.

  • :O That's your phone number! Lol. Oh David. :)

  • C'est qui le con qui aime pas?

  • @LadyBowie1119 I suppose "Mr Screamin'" as he is called i think is just a very sick man,and I think he hides from Vic because....Well he doesn't know him and they were trying to get away with using stunt doubles and I think I'd be pretty scared if someone fell through my ceiling=D I've only just seen this one and I love it! Another masterpiece from my favorite singer<3<3<3

  • That ending was clever-clever, whatever that means.

  • Shades of Paul Whitehead ("Mothers eh?"). One can never have too much Bowie.

  • had me at the binaca---so gross =)

  • the bassplayer for screaming is Right said freds singer - but very young with hair

  • @hughmooney61 what??

  • 1 person is not jazzin for Blue Jean.

  • ugh, i was cringing through this whole movie, i always feel so bad for Bowie. Poor awkward little Bowie :(

  • This is David Bowie.Nothing else matters

  • That was funny xD

  • Terribly low audio from an official record company, alot of their videos are the same. Any kind of quality control going on here?

  • I love his Screamin' Lord Byron makeup. :D

  • Here's the REAL Lady GaGa!

  • SUPER !!

    MERCi BEAUCOUP !!!!

  • I remember when MTV used to play this entire sequence

  • @kya1260am Me too! And MTV turns 30 today. I remember them hyping up the premier of this video (wow! 20 min. long!) and I was thinking it would be the next Thriller or something.... then totally bored by this. Ha! but I really miss those days when stuff like this was played.

  • h ehe e he hehehheheheh ehehhehe ehehheheheh hehehehehehehehehe

  • fucking love it

  • One of my all-time favorite music videos! Very cleaver and thought out. Dammit Bowie, you have way too much talent, share some with the rest of us! ; )

  • this reminds me in a lot of ways of what Kanye is trying to do with "We Were Once a Fairytale" and the Runaway long form video...

  • Thank you for uploading, I've never seen the full version before : )

  • Richard 'RIGHT SAID FRED' Fairbrass on the bass. 14.27 Ha!

  • What year is this from?

  • I absolutely love this and feel sorry for the sweet David, it was funny all the way through though I love it!

  • Fantastic! Always wanted to see this! He is such incredible performer, hard to believe he plays both parts! Genius!!

  • Around 8:20, what's wrong with Bowie's other character? They carry him in and he's got an oxygen mask?

And why does he hide from Vic after Vic falls through the ceiling?

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder how it felt doing that scene in the dressing room after Vic falls through the ceiling... Bowie talking to empty spaces so it'll look like he's talking to himself...

  • Great video/mini movie. I haven't seen this since I was about ten. Just as good...even better than I remember.

  • holy crap i just noticed that hes wearing the Thin White Duke Outfit only not the Jacket

  • was that sting playing guitar?

  • Good Lord, didn't this guy eat during the 80s? Even here he's sooo skinny!

  • @TheBookWorm1718 He lived off of a diet of Cocaine Red Peppers milk and Cocaine yeah he was skinny

  • @greatunknowableevil That was in the 70s though, by the 80s he started to clean up.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 Yeah but he still wasnt completely clean and it takes years to clean out your system

  • "I'm not advertising Frankie until they tell us who he is." LOL that's so true isn't it? Here it is 25 years later and we still don't know who the hell Frankie is!

  • I've been looking for this on YouTube for ages and I'm pleased to finally find it. I taped this from the Channel 4 Tube special and still have it somewhere. Dorky Bowie and Screamin' Lord Byron are both very much of their time. Great Stuff.

  • Vic should've used the fact he looks just like Byron to get in.

  • aaah this is fantastic. Screamin' Lord Byron has just about the sexiest look ever in full outfit and makeup. The geek Bowie reminds me of my ex boyfriend. Emphasis on ex. xD

  • Bowie partially shirtless, Bowie in lots of tight pants, dorky Bowie, singing Bowie, two Bowies in one room....

A portion of my life is now complete.

  • @WishesLost Right on! ;)

  • i so love this short. bowie being a dork in one part and as screamin' lord byron. a diva of sorts who is so full of himself. i love the fact that he's got a sense of humor. the ending kills me. i wished bryan ferry did take on the role as the roomie.

  • The bloke on bass is Richard Fairbrass the lead singer of Right Said Fred you can see him at 14:29 check it people :~)

  • I had this on VHS back in the day. So groovy. Funny as shit

  • One of the best, glad to see it again after all these years.

  • I recoreded this off The Tube way back when the first time it was shown. And i watched it over and over, it is unbelievably good. I think this is the reason why for so many years after i was bored shitless by music videos because they never hit this peak. I just watched it for the first time in perhaps 20 years, I remembered every word 'Woosh Oleander! Thank you so much for posting it

  • oh my david bowie this is great, long live david bowie

  • No! Not another Brian!!!

  • first time I have ever seen this video and all I have to say is it is totes EPIC. love it.

  • I remember this movie short back when I was about 15... It's still just as good!!!

  • A 1984 Video broadcasted on a Meduim that was UNTHINKABLE in 1984!!

    .

    This is You Tube!!!

    .

We will still playing ATARI 2600 when this came out!!!

  • my guess is Spencer loaned him that suit for a good buck! the collest part is when Screamy dances in a circle and rocks out! Bowie is genious!

  • yes he is soooo always beautifull,,,,,,

  • awesome he was listening to Warsawa in his dressing room

  • Genius at this level is frightening! - i only know of 4 humans in the 20th century at this level - (in no particular order): David Bowie, Mohammed Ali, Albert Einstein, Ayrton Senna (RIP).

  • lol dorky bowie is the most adorable thing ever

  • i first saw this when i was still a kid, and it was one of my first encounters with David Bowie. it's interesting to watch it again 26 years later, now that i know a lot more about David Bowie and can get all of the references to his music and his personae. especially when he's sitting in the dressing room listening to "Warszawa" (from "Low").

  • Everyone waited up for this to be aired on The Tube, (made reference to in the vid, "Don't know what to wear, should've watched The Tube.")It wasn't on 'til about midnight and everyone was raving about it at school the next morning. I played it till the tape nearly wore out and recorded the whole thing to audio tape, thingking it was pretty cool.

Funny watching it now, via the internet on a platform that wasn't even conceivable in '84 and Bowie sounding like Ian off Eastenders. Cheers for post.

  • @pignatan sounds like rickey gervais to me

  • (:33 "do you play? br bup brrp!" OH i laughed!!!

  • 9:33 "do you play? bup bup bup!" oh i laughed.

  • Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I have been searching for this video for ages. I hope everyone knows that Bowie wrote this to show, how he feels people see the DAVID BOWIE singer/artist, and the clumsy David Bowie, who he considers himself to be in real life. Great Video!

  • So funny seeing Bowie, the epitome of cool, portraying a geeky, awkward fanboy. Excellent.

  • he is absolutely adorable in this.

    he's still adorable even now!

  • This video blew my mind when it came out! I remember waiting all day for them to show it on MTV. Thank you for posting!

  • fantastique

  • I had Part 1 & 2 in my favorites and saw they took them down. I was so glad to find it had been posted again. Bowie is so funny at times.

  • Wow, I have been looking for this forever it seems. I am so glad someone posted this!

Thank you so much for putting it online.

  • "I'm not advertising Frankie until they tell me who he is"... Fantastic.

  • "I've got a teensy weensy headache. I wonder if you might switch that thing off until I finish passing out." I wonder how many times he actually felt like that in the 70's!

  • have loved Bowie since "fame"

  • I absolutely love this - did this win any awards - it should have!!!!

  • also, another random trivia fact, he is definitely commando in that track suit

  • Vic the Nerd actually looks a lot like Bowie did when he was in Berlin recording the trilogy - especially Heroes. Just not so strung out. Anyway, LOVE him. I don't know who that actress is, but I was so jealous of her when I was about 15 and this came out. Love when he's trying on date outfits.

  • I feel like I've been looking for this one forever! Thanks for posting.

I remember it when it came out.

God I feel old now! XD

  • david bowie is pretty much the most amazing person ever. sexy and adorable!!

  • Shades of Ricky Gervais from the Office, or is that just me??

  • I was totally thinking the same thing.

  • @MrFixit1983

Yes definite shades of Ricky Gervais from the office!

  • People forget, but Bowie is a natural actor. Playing the geeky lovestruck romantic was spot-on hilarious with just the right amount of charm and awkwardness. I loved this video when I first saw it 25 years ago, and it has definitely aged well. Thanks for posting.

  • Are there more short videos like this one of David Bowie and his songs? If so, where could I find them? thx.

  • Thats Richard Fairbrass from Right Said Fred on bass!

  • OMG, it is! Most random trivia fact ever!

  • Very nice video, beautiful song, and of course Bowie is really divine, for ever and ever

  • What a sweetheart he is.

  • He is, isn't he? Aww I love him <3

  • I really like his painted face and his hairstyle

  • Videos were huge in the 80's...I remember when Duran Duran spent an unheard of amount of money for a video ($280,000). They got to be more creative and interesting, and this epitomized the lengths to which the medium would go in the name of art.

  • isnt this just loads of bowie fun.......

  • lovely, going into my ipod, forever.

  • Nearly 25 years later and I am still Jazzin' for Blue Jean.

  • acehighpat me toooo..its great isnt it!

  • Yep. It is.

  • a-mayyzingg.

    holy cow.

    I laughed soooo hard.

    :D

  • the quality of this video is better than the crap i downloaded on itunes.....geez

  • I don't mean to brag, but I own this on VHS.

  • Of course you do! It's ok though - we're still impressed ;-)

  • No clue this even existed, what a wonderful surprise! Oh, that Bowie, he's full of em.

  • At last, the long version of Blue Jean!!!

Love it so much , thank you!!

    Bowie is the one !

  • snap snap snap ^^
