@LadyBowie1119 I suppose "Mr Screamin'" as he is called i think is just a very sick man,and I think he hides from Vic because....Well he doesn't know him and they were trying to get away with using stunt doubles and I think I'd be pretty scared if someone fell through my ceiling=D I've only just seen this one and I love it! Another masterpiece from my favorite singer<3<3<3
@kya1260am Me too! And MTV turns 30 today. I remember them hyping up the premier of this video (wow! 20 min. long!) and I was thinking it would be the next Thriller or something.... then totally bored by this. Ha! but I really miss those days when stuff like this was played.
One of my all-time favorite music videos! Very cleaver and thought out. Dammit Bowie, you have way too much talent, share some with the rest of us! ; )
What's wrong with Bowie's other character (don't know the name, I just know it's the one that's not Vic) around 8:20 when they carry him in and he's got the oxygen mask?
What's wrong with Bowie's other character (I didn't catch his name, I just know it's the one that's not Vic) around 8:20 when they carry him in and he's got the oxygen mask and he's given medicine and keeps being carried everywhere?
I wonder how it felt doing that scene in the dressing room after Vic falls through the ceiling... Bowie talking to empty spaces so it'll look like he's talking to himself...
"I'm not advertising Frankie until they tell us who he is." LOL that's so true isn't it? Here it is 25 years later and we still don't know who the hell Frankie is!
I've been looking for this on YouTube for ages and I'm pleased to finally find it. I taped this from the Channel 4 Tube special and still have it somewhere. Dorky Bowie and Screamin' Lord Byron are both very much of their time. Great Stuff.
aaah this is fantastic. Screamin' Lord Byron has just about the sexiest look ever in full outfit and makeup. The geek Bowie reminds me of my ex boyfriend. Emphasis on ex. xD
i so love this short. bowie being a dork in one part and as screamin' lord byron. a diva of sorts who is so full of himself. i love the fact that he's got a sense of humor. the ending kills me. i wished bryan ferry did take on the role as the roomie.
I recoreded this off The Tube way back when the first time it was shown. And i watched it over and over, it is unbelievably good. I think this is the reason why for so many years after i was bored shitless by music videos because they never hit this peak. I just watched it for the first time in perhaps 20 years, I remembered every word 'Woosh Oleander! Thank you so much for posting it
Genius at this level is frightening! - i only know of 4 humans in the 20th century at this level - (in no particular order): David Bowie, Mohammed Ali, Albert Einstein, Ayrton Senna (RIP).
i first saw this when i was still a kid, and it was one of my first encounters with David Bowie. it's interesting to watch it again 26 years later, now that i know a lot more about David Bowie and can get all of the references to his music and his personae. especially when he's sitting in the dressing room listening to "Warszawa" (from "Low").
Everyone waited up for this to be aired on The Tube, (made reference to in the vid, "Don't know what to wear, should've watched The Tube.")It wasn't on 'til about midnight and everyone was raving about it at school the next morning. I played it till the tape nearly wore out and recorded the whole thing to audio tape, thingking it was pretty cool.
Funny watching it now, via the internet on a platform that wasn't even conceivable in '84 and Bowie sounding like Ian off Eastenders. Cheers for post.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I have been searching for this video for ages. I hope everyone knows that Bowie wrote this to show, how he feels people see the DAVID BOWIE singer/artist, and the clumsy David Bowie, who he considers himself to be in real life. Great Video!
