@choboku2 It's no play back, this band has horrible live vocals, but because the moron jumps like a monkey knowing his voice would sound worse, cause he is not a good loud singer. Unlike the more successful band that came also from their HS just as like Incubus, Linkin Park. Chesters Voice sounds the same or even better depending on the notes and emotion on the song. Axl, Zack De La Rocha, etc, Chester Dave Grohl, sound great moving around. Not this guy and he stands still and sounds decent.
@dl1151 So Britney spears, and Miley Cyrus are better than them and can critic the band because they sold albums and made more millions than them..? I like Hoobastank, I hate how bad they sound live. And btw, everyone that says that the singer of Hoobastank and Chester from Linkin Park uses autotune, maybe they do but they show their vocal talents in their live performances. They are both fking awesome live!
Yeah, this was after The Reason came out. It was probably 2004. I love Hoobastank, but I don't like Every Man For... and Fornever, as much as I like the first two albuns. I prefer this sound, even the Dan Estrin guitar sound. They had much more energy around this time.

I can bet there is playback in the vocals. Look when he jump from the amplifier at minute 1:50 - 1:55 and his voice still clear.
