  • nice video

  • Okinawa, FTW.

  • Really cool video depicting Tokyo. I live in Okinawa and before I came here i watched this and it really eased my mind.

Keep making your videos. Weather you know it or not, your really making a difference!

  • wow the streets look surprisingly like my hometown Taipei...i was like wow this is japan? looks like where im from just a bit cleaner

  • Comment removed

  • Japan is a really fascinating country. Love the video.

  • The pachinko machine at 4:00 is Evangelion 3 and I have one in my dining room

  • I love this video. So first hand and real. Thanks.

  • Arcades, the 80's all-over again. Cool look at life in Japan. The machines using the small ball bearing as a currency is because it is illegal to gamble, however there is a system. You use them to get a specific useless prize which is then traded for your money back at another location, just fallow another gambler to find out how, not to close though.

  • Ooo the Ebisu song... I miss that (the background music when the kids are playing). And yea, no one ever obey those arrows in the stations.

During peak hour in the morning (from 6 - 8 am I think. Someone told me but I forgot) there are women only train cars since there are too many erooyaji (perverted old man) in Japan.

  • i like their subway system... here in nyc.. subways are so dirty...

  • Wow, it makes Japan seem so normal if that makes any sense, lol. Well, thanks for this video. It feeds my appetite for foreign countries! =D

  • it is like going to canada were you have to use 1 dollar and 2 dollar coins. i went there and had 50 dollars worth of two dollar coins and guess what it sucks.

  • hahahahaha. You didn't like the toonies and loonies? You can actually use them in vending machines and for bus tickets, and everything really!

... I REALLY liked this video, I really want to go there now, it doesn't seem as scary as I thought :P

  • Japan is so intriguingly normal! (^.^)

  • alot of panchinko at arcades

  • oh strange, my aunt lives in monzen nakacho! my mom told me the women's only sign is for women to stand in line there at night when its crowded so they wont be grabbed by men?

  • yea, my cousin lives there and she said women get grabbed by men in the subways when they're full, so they get their own cars.

  • Omg! If I would have subscribed earlier I would have asked you to get me some Sailor Moon stuff! Addicted... hahaha!!!

  • heyy you should go to taiwan xD

  • Hahaha vaddå women only?? Diskriminering eller?? Hmmmm...

  • Du kunde döpt videon till The Grand Tour eller nåt haha! Vad mkt folk och trafik där är då.... =O

  • Thanks Eemma for the wonderful travel series!!! It's great to get your perspective on Japan! (and I loved the title of this particular vid! LOL You've got a great sense of humor!!) (Pete)

  • thanks..

  • A useless coin then! :p

Or you could collect a ton of 'em (like you two did) and give 'em to charity or something like that.

That would make it usefull again...

  • Thank you for this video.

I wonder if 1 yen is even useful because I just saw like 160Y or 320Y to pay...

Was there anything which cost like 143 or 94 or 666 (mohaha)?

  • You're welcome :) Mmm, i NEVER used the 1 yens. You have to collect at least 10, then i guess you could use them.

  • The only time the 1 yen is ever useful or usable is if you shop for groceries, or etc. At vending machines and for train tickets.. yeah, you won't ever use them. :)

  • Hey did you experience any difficult language issues while there? Did you learn some Japanese phrases before you went? Would appreciate some info, cheers :)

  • No, i didn't know any japanese before i left! Well yeah almost NONE knew english :P So at times it was a bit difficult. But as long as you have patience and you're not afraid of making a fool out of yourself, you're fine :P

  • wow great video! i wish there were more videos like this now that we have mediums such as youtube and livevideo so instead of just photos, people can post vlogs of what they get up to and what its like in these countries. I dont know how you afford to stay outhere. I really wanna go travelling at somepoint..maybe i'll go to asia? hhmmm

  • Go go go! :) We rented an "apartment" for one month. There's NO way you can afford staying at a hotel in cetral Tokyo for that long. Just start saving ^^ hihi You won't regret it! :)

  • thats awesome =D

  • Great tour of the town!!!! thanks, you kick ass!! everyday Tokyo seems interesting.. if you could go to any city in the world where would it be?

  • Thanks!! Atm, it would be New York! :)

  • oh i love new york! i've been there once and i am dying to go back :)

  • :-)

  • I have been there in 2002 and it rocks. I will go back next year for a week or 2.

  • you are most beautiful of English that I know

  • gorgeous footage.

  • Take the Pink train... Nice shoes... :o )ason

  • Great educational video, Eemma! Thanks for sharing!

  • very interesting. thanks

  • Very cool!

  • Your like are personal traveler. Thanks for the great footage.

  • Fresh Bakery van in english only? Maybe he's lost and is in the wrong country. I love your fingernails.

  • spider web subway lines.. i hate them ! :-[

    PS: dont drink coke.. :>

  • Some great footage and interesting info Emma, thanks for posting it.

  • 1st time utube watcher, and I stumbled across this Video. You have really taken me back to the time i was in Japan. Thanks.

  • Welcome!! :D And you're welcome! Enjoy your stay!!

  • You should be a tour guide :]

  • Thanks, great vid. More Please!

  • Thanks for the tour. Don't think I've ever seen Tokyo like that before :)

  • LOl...they cheated U Eemma..the coin got a hole in it :))

  • haha :P

  • Eemma in denmark you also have holes in the change. Is it just to show wich is less then 10 krones? Or is it there for another specific reason? Jack

  • Ok...what did i missed??

    Ar Re Ga TO

  • Thanks again, Eemma. You do get around. That tour brought back memories of Japan. When I watched the video the first time, my oldest daughter called and informed me that my youngest daughter just had a baby girl.

  • thanks! :D And congratulation! ^^

  • Nice video tour! Thanks!

  • Can't you use the change for the phone pimping. (hello kitty)

Pimp my phone Japan!! With a Swedish twist.

  • Nice video. They need those do not run signs in the Paris subway. Everyone from 5 year olds to 90 year olds run in the Paris subway...its funny to watch.

  • What a nice walking tour. I liked how you showed the map at the beginning, and all the signage. You and your Coke endorsement...if I didn't love Coke as much as you, I'd probably be annoyed. Haha. That arcade game you were playing seemed more like a casino slot machine, but with marbles!? Enjoy your last couple days!!!

  • coke for life ;P

  • TITLE: A Walk Through Tokyo

  • That was very interesting. Thanks...

  • Thanks for the video :) It makes me miss my 2 week trip to Japan. I took lots of video too, but now I wish I recorded more!

  • excellent video .. thank you :)

  • I would have never thought of myself as being well traveled but now I feel as though I am because I am seeing the world through this beautiful young lady's eye and I love it... even if it looked like she was playing Japaness BINGO...lol

  • hahah lol, you're welcome i guess :P

  • love the video! go Japan! YATA!!

    interesting country indeed

  • that was cool, show us more please. :)

  • i miss city life so much.. i've never seen a place that busy before though. is it getting old yet? i hope not

  • Ahh that was very interesting! I enjoyed it :)

  • Interesting. Thanks for doing this.

  • similar not simUlar. i used to say the same thing until i was corrected.

  • yea yea yea.. :P

  • Thank you Eemma. I think you found your calling. You definitely should be on the travel channel on TV. You make very interesting videos. I can't believe they even walk on the left side? I keep telling people this is America you have to stay on the right when you walk down a hallway. Thanks Eemma. I hope you having lots of fun.

  • Eemma is one of the few vbloggers that could have a paid "enhanced" subscription that would allow subscribers to see more and longer videos--and people would actually subscribe.

  • I agree

  • lol thanks pongman!!

  • You're welcome. I can't wait for your next adventure.

  • :)

  • These are great! I hope you find the time to keep making them.

So those little silver balls in the arcade... are they actually worth anything or do you just trade them for prizes?

  • Back home already :(

Exactly, you just trade them in for prizes. A coffee maker, a rice machine etc.

  • That was a big can of coke. Or do you have small hands? Can't you buy hello kitty crap with all that change? It sounded like the music in the park was the theme from the Third Man. Great movie.

  • hehe no it was a huge cam of coke! DON'T call hello kitty "crap"!! Bah! :P About the sound in the park, i have no idea what the third man is, but someone else also pointed that out, so it's probably true!

  • 'The Third Man'was a story by Graham Greene that he wrote into a movie starring Joseph Cotten and Orsen Wells. It is a good myster/thriller that takes place in Vienna after WWII. The music is very distinctive as it is played on a zither, which is somewhat like an autoharp. The theme was a big hit way back when.

  • hehe oh, okay :P

  • Make more great videos!

  • i miss japan. i've lived there for three years. best years of my life. anywho...i love the vending machines because with some drinks you can either get them hot or cold. try the milk tea, it's awesome.. actually so is the coffee. if you haven't seen the shrines yet, you should. absolutely gorgeous... especially in kyoto.

  • i miss japan too :( best time ever! I never really tried any of the unknown drinks in there. Execpt for the ice tea and one other. I didn't like either, so after that i went for coke and water :P

  • hmm where i live theres tonsa peeps on the streets maybe its just where u live:P

  • By the way, I love your hair. Very pretty! :)

  • I want to go to Japan so badly!!! Le sigh...

  • Yeah! a new Eemma Movie!

  • kool looks like japan is all you hahaha

  • Emma, I wish I could express who much I enjoy your videos....you make us feel like we are there with you...Thank you for the ride!!!

  • awe thanks! And you're welcome ^^

  • the 1 and 5 yen coins are like our pennies. Bleeding useless!!!

how tall are you compared to the japanese men? are you taller?

    Tanks for your video!!!

  • Agree with ya! :P Haha, well i'm about 170 cm. So many times i was taller than them!

  • Thanks for the tour! I never noticed the signs labelling cars women only. I was there in 2002 and want to go back!

  • gogogo!

  • thanks for sharing

  • Very nice Miss Eemma. You are a great tour guide. :)

  • Emma, great video...did you go alone on your tour? Toyko is a huge city...don't get onto a crowded train car...wait for the next one, young *pretty* women often get felt up in the mass of people (this happens often in Toyko), other wise a very safe city!

  • Thanks! :) Naha, i went with a friend. ^^

  • i miss japan :(

  • me too :(

  • me three :(

no wait im still in japan :D ner ne ne ner ne :P

  • Interesting Eemma, it's like we're there. thanks. Oh and I have a title for these clips...."Fear and Loathing in Las Tokyo"....lol

  • " From Dusk to Dawn, Eemma in Tokyo "

    Say yon nar ra

  • lol :P

  • Interesting video. The women only carriages on the subway / underground

operate from 7.30am to 9.30am (I think )on the Saikyo Line. They were brought in as

a response to the high incidences of groping of women on this line.

  • I love these kind of neighborhood walking videos. You did a great job of keeping the pace moving. Talk about sensory overload, geez.

  • I see shades of Queens/Bronx in some of this footage, sceenery and all. But for the most part it does have it's own unique way of doing things, with all the little stuff you pointed out. Excellent video, answers alot of would be questions. Thanks for sharing!

  • That talking musical van from the fresh bakery said Essen, which means 'to eat' in German. How curious.

  • I think this one alot..thx for sharing

  • this is very interesting, thanks for taking the time to make this! I find it most interesting how everything talks.

  • thanks for showing us around

  • Oh yeah, kinda weird they drive (and walk) left, seriously

thought they only did in the UK and some other country I can't

recall right now but it wasn't Japan. From other comments I see

I'm not the only one surprised by that. Last but not least:

Even while the video was 8+ minutes it's very easy to watch

because you keep things short and to the point, as allways

    very well done Eemma ^^

  • I agree, she really knows how to keep the pace moving. She could make a 30 minute video and it would be entirely watchable.

  • thanks dex and muddimo :)

  • ^^

  • Hey cool.

thanks for showing us the other world of Tokyo.

    keep it up.

  • you start every video with the word "so". Its cute :-)

  • cool arcade place

  • Wow. Cool Video. I learned a lot. Would not want to live in Japan. Too crowded.

  • Thank you. I enjoyed that.

  • Unfortunately girls being molested in rush hours from the subways here from rio de janeiro was a common thing. So, the company decided to create a special wagon only for woman too. It's a disgusting behave, and I thought it was a developing country thing, cause we have a huge lack of education here. It was interesting to see that such things actually happen worldwide.

  • I simply love your videos Eemma and this one is no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • really cool, i'm enjoying your tokyo journey...

  • How do you get Janpanese money? Did you have to trade it with other money?

  • Eemma has her own money machine, it makes any currency

she wants cuz she travels around the universe...

  • Eemma won the poker world championship with a spade two, a spade three and a "leave the prison" card from monopoly.

  • When Eemma goes to donate blood she declines the syringe and asks for a bucket and a handgun.

    She's that hardcore.

  • I sense Eemma is related to Chuck Norris somehow

  • Hahaha you guys crack me up!!! :D

  • The source of her income is of course; pillaging.

Since she's Swedish - She has viking blood in her veins. Thus, she is required (by law) to pillage the coins of puny people. Fear the wrath of Eemma

  • LOL!!!!! so hilarious...

  • haha I remember the drink machines. Qoo grape is my favorite and i remember they had alot of those slot machine gambling places. Don't know how to play it though. Mos burger is the best, teriyaki riceburger! yummy.

  • hehe cool! :D yay for the teriyaki burger!!

  • so many arrows!!

  • omg there was a can that said georgia and it had mountains on it, was it MY GEORGIA (-:P could u get me a can Eemma, ill pay for it of course

  • Oh yeah, and best title evah !! OMG, :-)

  • Essen?? Hahaha, cool... prob a german bakery? That are great vids eemma, reminds me of China, but only better structured! Thanks for shooting and posting them, you are a real "skatt" for that, :-p. Bye bye

  • Curious about the women only carriage so i looked it up :(

    Google: women only tokyo trains

    first article:

"..Some men however prefer to take the opportunity to touch the lady next to them, who will usually not say anything because of the way the male-dominated Japanese society still operate. Molestation is a part of the everyday routine here, somewhere between green tea and digital cameras" argh

  • mmm! =/

  • it is unfortunately true .. ive had some girl-friends who complained . x(

i work at a swedish-japanese cooperation .. the sick thing is that the woman for the same post as the male counterpart .. check this out .. gets paid lesser !! .. it was a big shock to me !

i hate this male dominated thingy

  • Uh, correct me if Im wrong but aren't you in Japan with a friend? Hmm maybe im crazy. Its nice your not infront of your TV in this vid, now its time for a vid during the night when all the lights are glowing, gogogo :):):)

  • Overall excellent trip!

  • The little van is playing the theme from The Third Man -> very cool video

  • These videos are really cool Eemma!

  • This is sooo great!! I could watch this 'sightseeing with eemma's eyes'-type of video for hours!! So thaank you for this one.. Besides that, nice shoes! :-)

  • lol, second that ;P

  • Thanks worm!! :D

  • No title? I give you one: Tokyo traffic, coins, vending machines, arcades, gambling, talking things, flat tires, parks, playgrounds, fresh bakery, subway stations, maps, arrows, etc... Now, was that so difficult???

  • I thought abou the exact same actually, but maybe it's abit too long?

  • for how long have you been there? :) seems like you know the place really good :)

  • When i filmed it, i had been there for about 3 1/2 weeks. One month has passed now, and i'm back home :(

  • that was very interesting..thank you

  • det här e kanske en dum fråga men: smakar Cola, likadant som i Sverige? :P

  • haha japp :D

  • Wow! I can't believe that you can buy a Dr. Pepper from a vending machine in Tokyo! Amazing. So you can get it in Texas and Tokyo...how 'bout that. Love your vids Emma, I feel so cultured after watching them.

  • And mountain dew! :D

  • japan is like a permanent carnival! what a bunch of carnies! hahaha kidding.

  • Thanks for posting that!!! It's really cool to see what it's like in another country especially through the eyes of someone who is learning everything as they go.

    Really good idea!

    Alissa

  • "essen" it's german xD

  • That was a great video! At first when I saw that it was over 8 minutes I thought it might be filled with boring details - NO WAY! I was fascinated with ALL the details. I was surprised to see that not only do they drive on the left side of the road but they also WALK on the left side. Keep those videos coming!

  • thanks!!! :D

  • "Essen" is German an means Food! A german Food-car in Tokio?

  • lol i thought the same :P

  • Fascinating stuff. A bit weird with the talking bakery trucks shouting at you, but I suppose if you know what they're saying it's not quite as odd. Very interesting.

  • Thanks for the tour of Tokyo! I like it when you point out things on cam that you find interesting/unusual and comment on them.

  • they drive on the left side of the road?

  • I think these are great. It's so interesting for me, since I've never really been anywhere but North America. Thanks for making these. I'm glad you'll be back soon, even though it seems like you're having a ton of fun.

  • I like Japan, very organized country!:)

  • Pachinko parlors- I never understood the popularity of that game. Little steel balls and slot machine kind of thing. Weird.

  • Weird indead :P

  • that was wow of u entering .. its so noisy n smoke filled air that i cudnt let my self in there

  • I have actually always wished that there was a video series that just showed normal daily life in various big cities around the world, the little subtle differences are fascinating. Thanks for putting it together!

  • very cool video!!

I thought it was very informative.

    :) :) :)

  • thanks ball! ^^
