E8400 not worth it right now, AMD PHII 720 overperfom it and its twice cheaper. And can hit 3'8ghz and maybe unlock de 4th core.

maybe AO only works at a software level with the latest WHQL drivers and maybe he's using the latest beta drivers. i'm only taking a wild guess.

yeah, i havent really updated my drivers since like 4 months ago.. im really too lazy. i didnt think it would make such a big difference. anyways, jon2oo6spb, my specs are nforce 780i, c2quad q9450 @ 3.2ghz, 4gb ram, 2x 9800gtx+ @ 800/2000/1200, so theres no way you can run something better than i can.

same. doesnt matter at all what other settings are one since i get around 50-60 with everything maxed including AA at 1440x900. when i turn on SSAO, it just drops to a non-playable, frame-rate.

The same for me. SSAO tries to emulate ray-tracing, so it's complex and demands a big GPU. But the visual change, at least for me, it's not that huge, so I don't care that much if I can't enable it or not.
