Steve Jobs and James Taylor have sooo many things in common: very handsome look-a-likes , geniuses, extremely creative. they absolutely LOVE their work/career, and they always think before they speak!
James Taylor has inspired me to keep practicing my guitar and to pursue excellence in music. He is a great songwriter and singer and guitar player. Thank you James.
anyone know when this interview was taped? The album that the narrator says "will be out in the spring" is Hourglass (I'm assuming)? The reason I am assuming this is because the narrator also says that he us due to marry Smedvig in the coming year as well? Anyone? Thanks in advance...
@emjee This show aired on 12/12/ 2000. I assume it was taped maybe a month or two before. I edited off the intro where Charlie Rose mentions 'last month's release of the Greatest Hits 2' album (11/2000) . James and Kim married 2/01...twin sons born by surrogate a couple months later in April. 'October Road' was released 8/02, so if this is the album they were talking about, it must have been delayed. Hope this helps :)
I just wanted to add a comment: I also saw James & Carole this past summer in Toronto, Troubadour Reunion Tour (with my daughter, next generation of fans) ..he just keeps getting better!
What a fabulous interview. Very revealing. His songwriting process is so interesting. I have been a huge fan of JT's since 1970. Thanks for uploading !!!
I love James Taylor. His music was so much a part of my coming of age in the '70's. Through first love, lost love, PA, DTH, Ailey, Clark Center, Berkley, The Farm and all the in betweens and hills and valleys of my life. Reconnection with his music again has been so healing its like coming home.
I am so impressed with James Taylor. He is an amazing artist and he has been my favorite artist since I was a little girl. I have seen James Taylor, in concert, many times. I just saw him with Carole King in Tanglewood. The last song brought tears to my eyes. I knew that this was a once in a life time experience. James Taylor is very generous he is to share his struggles with the world. This can help many who share these struggles. This sounds a lot like sensory processing disorder (spd).
@sharicutler Thank you for a wonderful comment. He is one of the most genuine and talented people ever...to recover from a lifetime of inner struggles. I also recently saw the Troubadour concert in Chicago (have vids on my other channel 'bze2nlz1'), and I know what you mean about 'Close Your Eyes'...it was very emotional!!
@sharicutler Your comments are exactly as I see james taylor a very impressive honest human being ...his life and struggles.are indeed a inspiration to many ..and of course his music will be a everlasting legacy to the world .Thank you
I absolutely love this guy. Love his music, love his openness, and am genuinely grateful for his contribution to the world. He is a real human being dong his honest best. You rock JT.

What an inspirational guy. Not in just his music, but his humbleness. Nice one.
