  • I had the honor of meeting Riddle and his Mama, Sally Hull, this past week when I flew there to pick up my third adopted dog. I adopted Josie, who was born with the same condition...and she is THE smartest dog!! I also adopted Josie's little buddy, LuLu...THIS time, I adopted Kali, who had to have an amputation after being hit by a car and left at the side of a road...Josie, my blind one, was thrown away like garbage too, Sally Hull and Hull's Haven have restored my faith is LIFE! And I <3 them!

  • I accidentally found this video while looking for a song I heard on Criminal Minds.

Riddle is so beautiful to see. Even though he is blind, he runs with freedom, confidence and joy.

I both cried and smiled watching the video. Thank you for it and the lesson to "not judge a book by its cover".

Bless you and Riddle and all the rescued souls.

  • Awesome! I am a dog lover and to see this wonder makes me feel good [even though it did make me cry]. We adopt dogs from Best Friends, a sanctuary in this area of the country, our dogs are great companions and" watch dogs". I am disabled, they take turns staying in the room with me, whenever my husband is not in the house. Peace.

  • sniff....sniff.......so sad..... i cried..

  • Ohmigod, he is SOO amazing!!! I can't wait till Josie gets here on the 15th...FOUR More days!!!

She was born without eyes too...and we're adopting her, all the way from Manitoba....she'll be our 'honorary' Newfie, cause we can't 'screech her in' like we do with people, .lol...but she'll be safe and loved and have an amazing life here at Nageira!!! Thank you, Sally....you are an ANGEL on Earth...and I hope you and Riddle ROCK "Canada's Got Talent!" XOXO

  • Bless his sweet soul, I've had many rescues that were blind and tossed out by their owners it breaks my heart.

  • Beautiful video! I have 2 blind collies so this strikes a real chord with me! Thanks!

  • Our 3 year old wolf hybred is going blind. This gives us hope for him and his quality of life. Thank you Riddle .

  • Such a Beautiful Dog!! <3

Me & My Border Collie Sheeba really enjoyed watching Him :)

  • Thank you Hull Haven for loving him and taking care of him. God Bless you and God Bless Riddle. He's amazing.

  • I dare anyone to tell me that this dog's life isn't happy and that he isn't worth any extra effort required to care for him. I had the privilege of living with a blind dog for several years. Prince didn't know he was handicapped - neither did I - it was others who judged him to be less than perfect. I encourage EVERYONE to adopt a dog who is blind or deaf for missing a limb. You will be richer for the experience.

  • I bawled my eyes out. What an awesome story. We just adopted an 6-8 year old white german shepherd who came to use with 104 temp, brochitus, high positive for heart worms, broken back foot with the bone protruding and re-healed that way and a host of other issues. He was scheduled to be put down due to his age, lack of interest and health issues. He is amazing. I truly think that animals with special needs just might be sent here from heaven...

  • He's really cute and full of life! :)

  • A wonderfully uplifting video!...just goes to show, that disability (animal and human) doesn't mean you cannot enjoy life to the Full!....well done Riddle...stay happy Lad! :)

  • beautiful, the video, the message and of course RIDDLE!

  • my pup, scutter , a buff cocker spaniel went completly blind at 5 i/2 years old !! you could not tell when he was in the car as he navidgated without a misstep . he stilled played with his ball , but it was rough . after he had the surjery , to regain his sight , he would just look out the window for hours , and he likes to watch tv . since he regained his sight , he has figured out how to throw the ball right to you ,

  • Riddle is no "riddle", he's a gift -- to all of us.

  • Thanks for sharing Riddle with us! It looks like he has a great life!!

  • This video should be required viewing for anyone who thinks "impaired" animals don't have "quality of life". We could all learn something from these four-legged angels.

  • This is a connection that goes to your heart, i hope it made you all cry for how happy riddle is. I think he is one of the smartest dogs

  • true vision comes from the heart

  • ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ad infinitum :-D

  • aww(':

  • Thank you, Sally.......& dear-Riddle: continue to share your joy and blessings with us all.

  • this is such a cute video it made me cry!(:

  • What a great story and wonderful dog. Thanks for sharing his story. We just recently took in two more for our pack of four. our first toy breeds from a hoarder, so they both have real challenges in socialization. But every day they amaze us. Many years of love to you and your pack.

  • What a great story and wonderful dog. Thanks for sharing his story.

  • Riddle is an amazing border collie...I love this video.:)

  • I love your vidio. He is a remarkable dog. I love border collies and own four. There intelligence is always stunning. This vidio brought tears to my eyes. he looks so happy bouncing around

  • Hey - I have a human friend that was also born without eyes. He is just as resilient! He has a Seeing Eye Dog who is awesome. He crosses a 12-lane highway every day (twice) to get to and from work and refuses special treatment. These souls are remarkable! I cannot imagine not being able to see!

  • Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for rescuing Riddle and to all people that give an open heart and home to a special needs dog, I pray God blesses you for the kindness you show. Riddle , you can tell is a very happy, loved and full of life dog....this video touched me deep inside thank you so much for posting it.

  • This brought tears to my eyes. We just put our 14 1/2 year old blind dog to sleep three weeks ago. We called ourselves her "seeing eye people" and until the day she left us, she went up and down many stairs a day, tentative with her steps but confident that she was safe with us. In her last years, she lost her hearing as well but she never lost her love and her ability to bring a smile to our faces. Special people have special pets. Thank goodness Riddle chose you.

  • I'm damned if I can figure out what sense or senses he's using to compensate enough that he can chase frisbees and balls. What an inspirational dog he is.

  • I cannot never get enough of Hulls Haven Border Collie Rescue. Just amazing.

  • Amazing and so touching..love and light to you <3 xoxo

  • border collies are one of my fav dogs =)

  • I keep watching and I can't stop crying. This is so inspirational. WHAT A SPIRIT! My next dog will be a special-needs dog. I've added the video to my Myspace. I think more people need to be made aware that there are many special-needs dogs out there that need loving homes. Thanks for this video.

  • I have a purebred border collie, Jack is very loyal and gentle. He is now blind in one eye, however this hasn't stopped him yet. My next dog will definitely be another border collie.

  • This is just so wonderful. WOW is all I can say!

  • This is my family's old dog from LDB and I held him as a puppy. He certainly faced challenges even back then but it's touching to see his progress.

  • Wow! Riddle is such an inspiring and amazing dog! I cried and laughed at the same time!

  • disabled dogs can teach us so much . maby a little harder to look after but not much i have two very disabled dogs and the love i get from them is powerfull i would never be without them.

  • Gosh, what a brave and lovely dog, I love him to pieces

  • Thank God and everything else I can think of for having a world that provides an outstanding life for such a dog. So much in this video paints a picture of what is important in life and washes away those mundain trivial complaints. I want to race home right now and show my pets how much they mean to me, but chances are, they will beat me to it.

  • I had to come and visit Riddle -- if all of you visit The Hallmark Channel, you will find there is a movie coming up about a Border Collie. I hope hullshaven get to watch it with Riddle! He's such an inspiration. Rock on, Riddle! xoxox Cheri....Scottish Terrier Rescue

  • awww what a great doggy, his beautiful!!! and a beautiful vidio thanks for posting!

  • Thanks for sharing your Riddle with us. What a joyful spirit! You are blessed.

  • What a joyful creature. We could all learn a lot about courage from this dog. Bless everyone who got him here...

  • wow, what a great dog and how inspirational, thank heavens there were people that cared and saw beyond the cover.....Hope that encourages others to look beyond what they first see ;-)

  • what a super sweetie :)

  • he cant see, and yet he will play fetch? my dog with eyes wont even play fetch... beautiful dog, beautiful song, beautiful soul that lives within this dog. you are special to have such a gift like Riddle. I cried watching this...Nice video, Hull-san! ^_^

  • I'm a rescuer of damaged and geriatric dogs myself, and recently had the pleasure of seeing Five for Fighting perform this song live. How apropos these lyrics are:

"As I look into my angel's eyes

A song plays on while the moon is high over me

    Something comes over me

    I guess we're big and I guess we're small

If you think about it man you know we got it all

Cause we're all we got on this bouncing ball

    And I love you free

    I love you freely"

Dog bless you for saving Riddle.

  • I had a Sheltie puppy born blind. He's 8 years old now and has never run into anything..he just has a sixth sense. I'm curious about the toy Riddle has. Does it omit a sound so he can locate it?

    Tek

  • @TrudyKerr

No his toy doesn't make any sound. He hears it roll when I roll it. He catches a ball when I say "catch" :)

  • I'm blubbering like an idiot right now. What a wonderful dog! My husband and I took in a 14 YO deaf, blind and arthritic Shih Tzu a few years ago. He never once complained about being blind and he used the walls as a guide. We had to put him down 2.5 years later and it was so hard. Even though we had him a short time, he made it very quickly to our hearts. I can see that in Riddle too. Bless you for taking him in and letting him flourish!

  • Okay, I woke up in the middle of the night not being able to sleep....,Now that I am crying like a baby, I should be able to go back to bed. What an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G dog and an awesome video...........I L-O-V-E Riddle!!!! I applaud all of you involved in "Rescue"!

  • Okay, I woke up in the middle of the night not being able to sleep....,Now that I am crying kije a baby I should be able to go back to bed. What an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G dog video...........I L-O-V-E Riddle!!!!

  • What a beautiful, wonderful soul -- I had a Border Collie mix who watched over me from the time I was 9 until I grew up and met my future husband! She was my best friend as I had no siblings. Riddle is truly an amazing Border Collie and what an inspiration. Well done, video, Miss Hull! Only one thing -- I can't stop crying. Great choice of music. Thank you for sharing Riddle. I rescue Scottish Terriers, and have 3 Scotties of my own. God bless.

  • @ChrisCurtisFan

So glad to hear from another rescuer! :) Scotties are so adorable!

  • Having a rescued Border, I can attest to their amazing sense of self and WONDERFUL personality. Thank you for saving one who knows he has been saved!

  • Riddle, you are so precious. Our hearts are with you sweet baby, xo.

  • Dogs rule.....all others drool :)))

  • how did you house break him?

  • @stupuff

Same as any other dog. Just show him where the door is, and he follows the other dogs :)

  • This doesn't surprise me about Borders. They're incredible to say the least! Mine will be 9yrs old in June and he still acts like a puppy! Such spirit! We could all take some lessons from the Border Collies.

  • love collies!!!

  • Awesome! Riddle is so cool. I just picked up a blind Min Pin from a shelter just before he was to be PTS on New Year's Day. He has probably also been blind since birth and has such a joyful exuberance for life. He inspires me constantly. You did a great job on your video. Thanks for sharing.

  • :'(. thats sad, but he is smart!!!! Amzing!

  • Thanks for posting this inspiring video! One of my friends has a blind Aussie and she excels at everything she tries. She earned her CGC & is doing great in Rally. And she continues to impress people with her abilities, opening their minds & hearts, just like Riddle.

  • Awesome dog, great video! Thanks for sharing! I am anxious to learn more about Riddle.

  • What a great video... thank you for sharing it. Riddle is an amazing boy and has a fabulous life :)

  • Well done!

  • What an awesome, happy dog....such an inspiration.

  • There are no words to describe this wonderful boy.

Riddle you are exacly what this world needs to see. There is no way that one cannot be touched to see you bounding around with the joy and love of life which is clearly visable.

To the mother of Riddle...I too have border collies...one who had been abused as a young pup and two others who are "normal"...lol if there is such thing as a normal border collie.

You are an angel on earth...keep up the great work and enjoy every moment with them!

  • Thank you for posting this! My beloved Aussie, Lilly Belle was born blind and deaf. She, too was an ambassador for the handicapped. She left this earth far too soon, but hopefully touched every life she met. Carpe Diem, Riddle!!

  • This is a perfect example Dogs can still be HAPPY and BLIND! I'm a dog groomer, Everyone thinks it's the end of the world when their dog goes blind. Their dog freaks out cause it's waiting for a sound to control the situation and they just run into everything it's really Sad.

  • This video brought tears to my eyes...what an amazing being. Riddle- you are an example of what is right and beautiful in this world

you are one special dog who I'm sure has touched so many lives- mine included :)

  • Riddle....

you are amazing indeed... Still cry each time I see the video. he enjoys life so much that is so wonderful to see.

there is indeed a reason that Dog is God spelled backward. Dogs are truly our slice of heaven down here.

Good boy Riddle... don't let anyone tell you that you can't do anything....

Now go get a goodie.. Awesome Dog..

    Love you Riddle..

    Tim

  • Hey Tim! Riddle is learning to play flyball too :)

  • thank you for this :)

  • Oh, this brought tears of happiness to my eyes! What a handsome boy and how wonderful you are a part of his life and he a part of yours. I would love to be out there playing with him too! Give this boy a hug for me!

  • Go Riddle Go! He thinks all dogs have no eye's. What a cutie! Wonderful song, thanks for the video.

  • What an inspirational creature. I believe dogs were put on this earth for us to experience that no matter what setbacks we may have in life, we should enjoy it to the fullest, whatever comes in our path, we can overcome the obstacle. What an incredible dog. This gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes at the same time. Riddle is truly one of a kind.

  • What a beautiful video Riddle is a real blessing !! Thank you for posting this wonderful video !!

  • God truly made Riddle for a reason...to teach us about the true spirit of love unconditionally with no judgements. Thanks to all that have saved and loved this dog.

  • you are doing an amazing job wish lot of people out there were like you...cheers.

  • Riddle my hero.

  • What a beautiful smart dog... God bless you for taking good care of him... He's an inspiration to us all...

  • I am so happy for you and the dog to see how he is playing with fun, thank you to show us this wonderful video

  • your dog is so beautiful, i am so happy for you and riddle. he must really love you. he must be so happy to have you as his owner. hes so smart and so cute! <3 i wish the best luck for both of you.

  • If there's every another Daredevil movie, with someone other than Ben Affleck, Riddle needs to be in it.

  • Riddle is sooooo sweet! If you need some to doggie sit him....ME!!!!! I wish him the greatest life a dog can get! But I think he already has that... with you. :3

  • I adopted a little Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling retriever (in our world he was the 'sock tottin' retriever) that was shot in the face by a farmer (and thus blinded).

He did WONDERFULLY! His brothers always helped him out when by steps, just amazing how he'd play with the rest (in the house and outside).

RIP Little Stevie WonderMutt! Still miss you a bunch.

  • I can just feel his joy when he runs through the field! What a wonderful doggie! Thank you for sharing him! :) My blind angel Sydney used to just love to feel the breeze. She also "beat up" her sighted brother. *g*

  • Long life to Riddle, calling him an inspiration doesnt do him justice. He has a zest for life many of us don't. Bless him and the people who saved him. He's beautiful.

  • Ok..that just totally had me in tears. A world without dogs would be a sad, pitiful place. I cant even concieve of it.

  • Well done Riddle. What a clever boy. His owner must be very proud of having such a brilliant dog. He seems very happy and full of bounce. He is an inspiration to us all. Puts my lazy labrador to shame!

  • That's fabulous!

My sister-in-law's mom took in a lab that had been brought in to the vet clinic to be put down because he was blind and he has turned out to be a terrific dog who fits into her family and loves his life in the country.

Seeing this dog romp and gallop around the meadow and running after frisbee and just generally loving life- How could anyone think that a dog like that should be euthanized?

Thanks for taking him in, giving him a great life and sharing his spirit with us!

  • Good to see that his blindness hasn't stopped him from being like every other dog :D BC's are wonderful dogs.

  • You definitely need to put Riddle on sheep!!! With that hearing, 6th sense, and most likely enhanced sense of smell, I'm guessing he can herd... and probably beautifully... video tape that for sure!!!!!

  • We are going to :) Waiting for the person with the sheep to call and say "let's go!"

  • Thank you

  • Wonderful video and a great dog! Just wondering - what is the name of the song and who sings it?

  • The Riddle by Five for Fighting. They are a great band!

  • Has a similar sound to James Blunt really :)

  • What a blessing to this world is Riddle's spirit, as are the Hulls for recognizing and encouraging it. Namaste'.

  • Riddle is just wonderful. He lives life the full and just enjoys life! Well done to the Hull family for rescuing him. I have two Border Collies, they light up my life !!

  • Hows he chase that frisbee? He's gotta have some extraordinary hearing, even for a dog.

  • Yes he has exceptional hearing, and I also put a strong smell of cherry on it :)

  • What is wrong with his eye?

  • If you watch the whole video, you will READ he has no eyes.

  • If there's a heaven Riddle and his keeper are going to be there.

I did my part too, rescuing a BC mix at 9months. We go kayaking.

  • Wow, he is beautiful, and obviously is enjoying life to the fullest! What a wonderful video!

  • I LIKED IT

  • You don't know how much this video has helped me. My dog is going blind from old age and now I will not worry about her so much and just enjoy each day.

  • Thaat is very good news. They cope very well, just remember not to treat her differently, keep things the same, and she will cope fine.

  • My dog also went blind for the last 2 years of his life jabbamany. Nothin changed with his personality. He just learned to move more cautiously to avoid bumping his head. You wouldn't guess he was blind when meeting him.

  • love your work take a look at my lead poem of loctia1--wish you would subscribE--POEM IS DONNER WOMYN, about how dogs saved my life once and the lives of many in the historical donner party.

  • What an amazing dog. Kudos to you for giving him a chance at a wonderful life. He looks like he's got a lot of lovin' to give and that he doesn't let his blindness get in the way of his good time.

  • Sally- This video made me cry. What an absolutely AMAZING dog!!! Thank you so much for saving him... He's truly an inspiration... WOW!!!

    Kitra

  • And thank YOU for all the amazing rescue work you do my friend.

Hi from Rylan and Blue Pepper (Golden Retriever adopted from Hull's Haven in 2009)

  • That was so beautiful. Your dog is so beautiful. This made me cry. What an inspiration your dog is. Thankyou for sharing with us.
