You forgot the worse part,,,taking out the extractor pin and extractor from the bolt.

Some guys have lost that tiny pin getting their rifle clean,

And then make sure you stagger the gas rings on the bolt before re-inserting the bolt into the carrier, or you might cause it to not fully eject the spent round.

The general rule for ARs, If 5.56mm is stamped on the barrel, it is chambered for 5.56mm and you can shoot both NATO rounds (military 5.56mm) and civilian rounds (.223 cal) - If .223 cal is stamped on the barrel, it is chambered for civilian rounds, and you should not shoot 5.56NATO rounds. The reason for this is because the 5.56 NATO is loaded to a higher pressure, and the .223 chamber can't really handle it that well.

For a new charging Handle I recommend a BCM Gunfighter Charging Handle. there about $45 and either the Mod 4 or 5 are great.

Also, get a flashlight for your rifle, really hard to hit what you can't see...

YO PETE! I have an almost identical setup with my AR, I plan on running a magnifier behind my eotech, and purchased the VLTOR/BCM GUNFIGHTER with the large lever to help with clearing the magnifier. I really like the space it gives me, and think it will work great with the setup you have now, and will give you clearance if you decide to add a 3x magnifier to it in the future. they have sm, med, & LG, but with my sausage fingers the LG was the right choice. awesome tip with the bamboo skewers! l

@COLT45keith Well, the AK-47 is definitely more reliable. but is meant to be a machine gun. The AR/M16/M4 type rifles are more accurate, not as reliable and less power. I think that it depends on the occasion. I have only fired the AK which is why I like it more.

@ThePatriot305 I don't know where you live, but in most states in the US that I am familiar with you can purchase long guns at the age of 18. Since the AR15 IS a long gun, you should be able to purchase one, so long as you are legal to do so. At 18 you can buy rifles, shotguns, etc. but not handguns. Go to a gun store and talk to someone behind the desk and find out....But I'm pretty certain of this.
