I'm sorry, but I'll take a Tek o-scope and a function generator over a DD-1 anyday. Don't really like blindly trusting a shiny blue box to know if the wave I'm getting out, is the same shape as the wave I'm putting into it.

google audio innovations of fresno,those guys get down on everything,they got fancier tools than you guys but than again they have the SMD DD1 as well,better & faster than the pricey flukes & o-scopes.If I'm going to let someone touch my system it would be them.It's nice knowing that there's other shops out there that tune the right way and not by ear,great job on that guys

The only problem is when an amplifier is HIGHLY overstating its actual rms rating. My planet audio amp claims it can do 2100 watts rms at 1 ohm. Thing is, with 2 30amp fuses? On a 12volt source, thats basically impossible. Even if the amp is 100% efficient. In cases like that, an oscilloscope or something like the smd handheld is required.

But! Very, very useful video for people who can't afford an oscilloscope.

PLEASE HELP!! ive got 2 cdt hd52 speakers 90watt and a vibe spacebox 4 channel amp 400watt rms running them with gain turned right down they distort when turned up non the headunit, what freq on the dial should i set them to roughly? also there is a slider that says 2-8v or 0.2-6v what should this be on? and a square button saying freq range x1 or x10. would be very gratefull for any advice. thanks in advance

No Problem! To make it easier follow these steps on a calculator

Multiply the RMS power from your amplifier by the Ohms that the speakers will be sitting at.

(75 watts rms x 2 ohms = 150)

Take that answer and find the square root of the number

(Square root of 150 = 12.25)

Hook up your multi-meter and adjust the gain till it reads 12.25.
