Audi, with it's comfort setting, has it spot on! My father-in-law's M3 (sedan) is such a jittery ride when on a long trip...it's actually kind of annoying sometimes as it's a little too sporty.
But he's right, the M3 is fun.
I'd imagine that anyone who bought either car (assuming they had no major bran loyalty one way or the other) would be entirely satisfied with either...but more satisfied if they owned both :)
@Orangevirus. I understand the concept perfectly. People who buy fashionable cars have purchased Audis since the first TT, and don't care that they are 4x4 or FWD, hence inferior. Ive always loved BMWs so am perhaps biased, even though I admit that Audis designers have the edge in terms of 'looks'. Audi has always played second fiddle to BMW in terms of performance and driver involvement/pleasure. The M3 is faster than the RS5 when driven by a real driver, not a layman, as in this video.

If everyone and their grandma didn't have a 3 series (including the M3) it just might be more exciting to me. It's also cheaper to buy than the RS5 and if I want to burn through a set of $1500 tires, its easy to do donuts and power slides. The RS5 looks better, may be slightly quicker (if not the same) but it's not going to win any awards for drifiting. In the USA, an M3 can be had for $62k and the RS5 will likely start at $78k *IF* it even comes to the states. It's already 3 years too late.

The thing everyone forgets to mention in these reviews is how the inside of the M3 was molded out of plastic by a blind man. Its like comparing a V8 go-kart to a sports car and saying 'the go-kart wins 'cuz its fun to drift'... If you live on a race track and would rather sacrifice comfort and style for 'fun cornering', go ahead and get an M3. If you live in the real world and want a luxury sports car that can be driven hard in all four seasons with enough room for your family, buy an Audi.
The Audi has much more torque and a greater power band through the revs. Without a doubt it grips like magic with its Quatro AWD system, and in my opinion feels much more luxurious.
But at the end of the day, I'll take the M3 over the RS5 any day! The RS5 feels to static, and honestly is no where close to how great the M3 feels! AWD may have more grip, but also means there's less fun in the corner. Going side ways through a corner is much more enjoyable than zipping past it.
@Anoush13 So... you drift around roundabouts and public road corners then aye? Snap out of your dream, in the real world anyone would take the RS5 over the M3. It's far more practical and it's much easier to drive and with the Audi Quattro system there's no possible way you can end up in a bush on the side of the road. It won't draw as much attention either, thanks to it's simple looks. BMW tries too hard to beat Audi, but lets be honest, they fail every time.

@200208195 I can't even look at the new 5 series and 1 series. BMW's designer is probably blind. For a 1000 mile journey I would take he Audi A8 3.0 TDI and to go to the shops I would definitely take a Volkswagen Polo 1.2 TSI, both the most efficient ways of getting from A to B with all the entertainment you will ever need for the journey.
@SwiftHDX That's quite funny. Most E39 BMW fans hated the E60 (04-10) and love the F10 (current 5 series). I assume you never cared much for the E39. I will agree that the new 1 series (F20) is screwed up in regards to design.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree with the journey cars. I would much rather be engaged throughout of 1000 mile drive, rather than conserve fuel. I care little for the Polo since they're far too over-priced for what you get in my country.

BMW M3 does come with 4 door salon car which can be drived as a cruiser/family car with a click on the M button to transform to a bmw m3 which we know so is still the best chooice to get m3 which is 5k pound cheaper then wanna be golf a.k.a audi rs5

The thing everyone forgets to mention in these reviews is how the inside of the M3 was molded out of plastic by a blind man. Its like comparing a V8 go-kart to a sports car and saying 'the go-kart wins 'cuz its fun to drift'... If you live on a race track and would rather sacrifice comfort and style for 'fun cornering', go ahead and get an M3. If you live in the real world and want a luxury sports car that can be driven hard in all four seasons with enough room for your family, buy an Audi.

The Audi has much more torque and a greater power band through the revs. Without a doubt it grips like magic with its Quatro AWD system, and in my opinion feels much more luxurious.
But at the end of the day, I'll take the M3 over the RS5 any day! The RS5 feels to static, and honestly is no where close to how great the M3 feels! AWD may have more grip, but also means there's less fun in the corner. Going side ways through a corner is much more enjoyable than zipping past it.

@Anoush13 So... you drift around roundabouts and public road corners then aye? Snap out of your dream, in the real world anyone would take the RS5 over the M3. It's far more practical and it's much easier to drive and with the Audi Quattro system there's no possible way you can end up in a bush on the side of the road. It won't draw as much attention either, thanks to it's simple looks. BMW tries too hard to beat Audi, but lets be honest, they fail every time.

For a 1000 mile journey I would take he Audi A8 3.0 TDI and to go to the shops I would definitely take a Volkswagen Polo 1.2 TSI, both the most efficient ways of getting from A to B with all the entertainment you will ever need for the journey.

@SwiftHDX That's quite funny. Most E39 BMW fans hated the E60 (04-10) and love the F10 (current 5 series). I assume you never cared much for the E39. I will agree that the new 1 series (F20) is screwed up in regards to design.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree with the journey cars. I would much rather be engaged throughout of 1000 mile drive, rather than conserve fuel. I care little for the Polo since they're far too over-priced for what you get in my country.
