You can go back to bands that gave birth to metal such as the Who, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. They showcased drums and bass 40 years ago

Ministry used bass to further songs a lot, and they're as metal as Mudvayne. Death had some good basslines too ("Individual Thought Patterns" album is a good example). But Mudvayne took it to a whole new level. That guy abused the hell outta that thing! Coolest bass sound and usage ever. I don't think they were the first, but certainly unlike anyone else.

I don't care for mudvayne's new music, it lost it's unique quality that songs like this have. In my opinion this is one of many awesome mudvayne songs. The first three albums are great after that they lost me. It's like the new Alice in chains. They suck without lane staley.

@sk8hxc420 Lol, plenty of bands that do that type of stuff. Classic prog rock pretentiousness, kinda sad these guys outright abandoned their prog leanings after this album. If you like that kind of stuff, I'd suggest checking out bands like Tool, Opeth, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, etc. Especially give a listen to Opeth's "Bleak" all the way through, it's quite epic. Interesting to come back and listen to some of these songs I haven't heard in a while. The only one I still like is Not Falling.

I find it hard to believe how some ppl can turn their back on a band and dislike them because they put out an exceptional album and the following werent up to "par" forgetting they are insane musicians in the first place. Im not really comparing it to LD50..im more or less saying that i dont think it was possible to create another LD50 given the fact that it was almost like a pioneer album for them to branch off into different paths, i agree with you when it comes to their latest 2 albums, yes it does sound a bit more watered down, controlled, and more reserved in relation to LD50, i just think their middle albums were something they had to put out not because someone told them to

I don't see how you can compare the last two albums to LD50. Drop the face paint, maybe tone it down a little, sure, but they lost pretty much all creativity. Gone are the thought provoking lyrics of Severed and Prod, now we have 'Scream in a Corner with me'. Gone are the insane basslines, now we have generic radio rock bass. Gone are the unpredictable song structures. Now nearly every song is verse-chorus-verse-bridge-verse.
Mudvayne is a shadow of it's former self. Tool evolved. Not MV.

My step-dad used to do it but i'm not sure what happened. I don't think i'd want to get into it because you don't know for sure what you're going to see. I'd rather train myself to see with my "third eye". That, however, is a completely different story :)

it's not from screaming too much. A lot of nu metal and early nineties metal bands had singers who's voices would give simply because it wasn't a popular technique. It's not that Chad's been doing it wrong, he has a highly original and 'hoarse' style scream, but without a proper vocal technique, his voice would eventually give out. Now that screaming's been popularized people eventually began to find ways to do it so that you wouldn't lose your voice (like in the zen of screaming) like R. Blythe

No you're wrong. Mudvayne went backwards. Their earlier stuff was complex and edgy. They have lost their edge and become radio friendly. I loooove their first two cds, and they were no where near the same cds. Mudvayne just went into a bad direction. In my opinion.

but because they had to explore different realms of creating their own music. I find it hard to believe how some ppl can turn their back on a band and dislike them because they put out an exceptional album and the following werent up to "par" forgetting they are insane musicians in the first place. Tool fuking owns they are one of my favs hands down, but i dont think they should be compared to MV, completely different sound and approach

Im not really comparing it to LD50..im more or less saying that i dont think it was possible to create another LD50 given the fact that it was almost like a pioneer album for them to branch off into different paths, i agree with you when it comes to their latest 2 albums, yes it does sound a bit more watered down, controlled, and more reserved in relation to LD50, i just think their middle albums were something they had to put out not because someone told them to

I don't see how you can compare the last two albums to LD50. Drop the face paint, maybe tone it down a little, sure, but they lost pretty much all creativity. Gone are the thought provoking lyrics of Severed and Prod, now we have 'Scream in a Corner with me'. Gone are the insane basslines, now we have generic radio rock bass. Gone are the unpredictable song structures. Now nearly every song is verse-chorus-verse-bridge-verse.
Mudvayne is a shadow of it's former self. Tool evolved. Not MV.

not just dishes of water but there's also certain mirrors for it, obsidian and yes dishes of water. It's used to see into the future and i think to see things of the paranormal. My step-dad used to do it but i'm not sure what happened. I don't think i'd want to get into it because you don't know for sure what you're going to see. I'd rather train myself to see with my "third eye". That, however, is a completely different story :)

they changed their music because we the fans wanted to hear something different and chad vocals were getting fucked up from screaming so much in his music.he still does the screaming just not that much.but i do agree they will always kick no matter how much they change.

it's not from screaming too much. A lot of nu metal and early nineties metal bands had singers who's voices would give simply because it wasn't a popular technique. It's not that Chad's been doing it wrong, he has a highly original and 'hoarse' style scream, but without a proper vocal technique, his voice would eventually give out. Now that screaming's been popularized people eventually began to find ways to do it so that you wouldn't lose your voice (like in the zen of screaming) like R. Blythe

No you're wrong. Mudvayne went backwards. Their earlier stuff was complex and edgy. They have lost their edge and become radio friendly. I loooove their first two cds, and they were no where near the same cds. Mudvayne just went into a bad direction. In my opinion.
