  • Gotta love Abby's boots!

  • @t72tins I agree a great match between 2 very different types of wrestlers.

  • @badman1881 The match was in an outdoor stadium in PR and it had apparently rained earlier.

  • I love it! Right after Abdullah smacks the ref the second time, the ref disqualifies Abdullah and then personally digs into his own pocket and hands Martel a chain to use on Abdullah at the 5:30 mark. Hilarious!

  • the 5 most bizzare and dangerous wrestlers of all time in my opinion.........1 Abdullah the butcher 2 moose cholak 3 bezerker 4 George 'the animal" steele 5 the Undertaker.......................hon. mention the Boogeyman.

    thev WARRIOR has spoken.

  • yes, he and garea were tag champs 3 times, if i remember correctly. i probably have a cultural pro-martel bias, being from montreal & watching him as a french speaking star as a kid in the 70's & 80's. i couldn't stand the model gimmick...actually, according to piper, martel really had modelling agencies after him in the 80's. betchyu vince heard about that, and voila.... if rick had spoken fluent english without the french canadian accent, his career may have rivaled steamboats.

  • you guys know wrestling is scripted right? Never seen the Model bleed before Abby carved him up.

  • @mortminoch martel bled alot. portland, teaming with piper, montreal, feuding with whomever... matter of fact, piper taught him how to break a bottle of beer over his head without knocking himself out, a trick he used on tv in quebec shortly after dropping the awa title. ricky still had it during the model days, but his best was the territory touring during the late 70's & through the 80's, a time when if you clawed your way to the top, you had to bleed. anyway, take care & keep watchin classics

  • @jdbankshot never knew much about martel 'til he was AWA champ and "The Model" just never thought he was that great of a showman. Didn't he team with garea to win WWWF tag titles?

  • Abdullah is on a very short list of wrestlers who were Box Office Deluxe. He is a legend. Unforgettable, frightening, and horrible.

  • Abby was a much better wrestler than Lou Thesz. Pure wrestling skill peroid.

  • @americandiablo lol.

on a serious note....have you seen the 6-part abby interview? he actually talks about the time he was booked to face thesz.

  • This match is a disgrace. Man, I've seen some atrocious things go on in the ring but this beats the arse of all of 'em!..................This IS NOT f-ing wrestling, it's a vicious car park brawl. Don't anybody dare oppose my views on this. Dis-fuckin'-graceful!

  • @gawagney easy, tiger... if martels opponent was anyone else, you would see some great wrestling... but abbys thing is the 400 pound psycho persona... what do you want ricky to do? i'll oppose anything i damn well please, including your bullshit point of view.... anyone watching an abdullah match should know exactly what they're getting into.

  • @jdbankshot Of course you're correct in what you write, it's just that I enjoy wrestling, in all it's forms, but sometimes it goes to far and, as with this, turns into a vicious brawl that one can watch in any South London pub (a wee exageration, I know) any Friday night.....Not my cup of tea, as the saying goes, though. All the best, buddy.

  • @gawagney aahhh.... an informed and articulate reply. thank you, such a rarity on ytube to come across an eloquent writer or speaker... i totally understand your pov. however, in the south london pub, chances are your safety is at stake...not my cup of chai, y'know? i'm no pussy, but i don't go lookin for it. sorry for being a bit stand-offish, i'm from montreal & martel is a wrestling icon around here, as are the rougeaus, dino bravo, joe leduc, maddog vachon, & many others... best to you.

  • @jdbankshot Thanks for your attitude too. As you write, very rare on YT.........Stay cool and keep enjoying pro wrestling, my friend. Thanks for your reply.

  • @gawagney I enjoy wrestling in all of it's forms too, but one of those forms is savage, bloody brawls. I certainly enjoy a great technical match as well.

  • @Lfdjake91 Hi, so nice to read a comment without all the abuse that appears to be rife nowadays on YT....I, myself, enjoy the savagery in some bouts but there are matches that go too far and should be stopped, this one's a prime example of that. Of course it is my opinion and my opinion only, but a bout that reaches these extremes just isn't for me.... But differing ideas etc., is what makes this world so interesting......Thanks for your opinion/imput/comment, Lfdjake91.

  • lmao Japanese Commentary during a Match in Puerto Rico! Epic! ahahah

  • Both Martel and Abby deserve to be in the Hall of Fame. If Tony Atlas and Koko B Ware are in then they deserve to be in too.

  • Dayum. This is the first time I've seen Martel bleeding buckets. Of course, this was a few short months after he lost the AWA championship to Stan Hansen. Also, in case no one has heard, Abby might be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and the person advocating his inductiion is none other than Triple H.

  • abdullah made alot of people famous

  • I agree with the individual who said Abdullah does NOT belong in wrestling halls of fame. He's a johnny-one-note. Same old shit every match.

  • @MadcapLaugh3 Yet he sold every match, in every country, wherever he appeared without changing his personna. Just like late rivals The Sheik and Bruiser Brody. People will still pay to see a match with Abdullah if he were still active, in fact people go his restaurant just for the opportunity to meet him. I'd say that's HOF material.

  • @MadcapLaugh3 Agreed. This is not wrestling! This is a blood collect for the Red Cross.

  • Certainly two of the best talent Canada ever produced in Pro Wrestling ! I remember both of them Wrestling in the Quebec Colisee PACKED every time there was a match scheduled involving the AWA World's Champion and the Champion from the Sudan ! Fantastic !

  • Now those are MAN TIT's!

  • Ten great wrestling heels! No certain order!

    10. Stan Hansen 9. Harley Race 8. The Shiek 7. Ric Flair 6. Jake The Snake Roberts 5. Mad Dog Vachon 4. Freddie Blassie 3. Big John Studd 2. Randy Savage 1. Abdullah The Butcher

  • @styx4ever1963 No Mark Lewin aka Purple Haze??

  • Rick was always underrated but was a great hand in that ring.

  • Martel was one hell of an over actor.

  • @DavidFullam He was great at what he did though, and sexy as HELL!!

  • hiram bithorn stadium san juan Puerto Rico

  • Typical ABDULLAH match, with no respects to the rules and a disqualification that was overdue.I don't care how long he wrestled,ABDULLAH does not belong to the hall of fame.

  • @TheAlain005 I don't know if he even wants to. I met him in Allentown P.A (A hotbed for pro wrestling) he had just been in a match in some hole in the wall gym and all bloodied up. He seemed to not care.

  • @TheAlain005 your an idiot. Abdullah was the best heel in any form of the wrestling profession
