The difference is that Canadians, even conservative ones, know that a healthy and educated society benefits everyone. That you can have a "free market" for the vast majority of things, driven by profit, but some things are too important to be driven by profit - namely health care. Canada's health care system is not perfect, but it's WAY better than the US health care system controlled by insurance pigs who will NEVER care about the "dignity of human life", and people are only a dollar sign.
not to mention i made 30 grand one year, the next year i got sick and was forced to drop my job and only made 5-10g the whole year. Health care then went "oh, he made a lot of money last year, lets charge him more a month for health care" which i was not able to pay. i'm now also in debt to HEALTH CARE. i owe them like 3gs or something ridiculous and i wasn't even getting the help i needed. fucking useless. those that say we have a good system haven't had to deal with it.WE DO PAY FOR HEALTHCARE
i've had a major seizure by being wrongly diagnosed and given the wrong medication. my specialist appointments are MONTHS apart(next one is 7 and i need to see him NOW). not to mention it took 3 years to even get testing done and now they are telling me i have a fatty liver and may have FUCKING DIABETES. i weigh 160 pounds, and dont drink. i'm still getting tests to see whats wrong with me. if i had payed for these services i would have been tested from day one. FUCK YOU CANADIAN HEALTH CARE.
cont. hospital wait 4 hours when she was clearly in intense pain. This is not health care this is nonsense I actually let her go in front of me because I couldn't stand letting someone in that much pain wait. FUCK all the doctors that are inept at their jobs we are supposed to trust you people and all your out for is yourselves. The system is horrible human beings are fucking scumbags that's all I learned from the health system here. Lazy inept sick in the head psychopaths run the system.
the healthcare here in Canada is free yes but its complete nonsense. Ive been waiting 2 FUCKING MONTHS for results and appointments to take tests for my heart. I am only 18 so I cant enjoy my life until I know my physical limits. There are people way sicker than me waiting months for these cunt doctors to examine them for 10 FUCKING MINUTES and test results are read weeks later when they could be read ON THE FUCKING SPOT IN 15 MINUTES. I lost faith in humanity seeing a poor lady in the cont.
@daveni2 in Canada the word complicated and healthcare are not usually in the same sentence, not for the individual anyway. If Canadians are ignorant when it comes to healthcare I can accept that.
Thank you for posting; this is a good primary resource. Not all Americans feel Canada is doing it wrong. In the old days America would look at the achievements of other countries and duplicate or improve upon them. I fear those days are behind us. The we're #1 chant rings pretty hollow for the average American.
@timfmr why are Americans like you the quiet ones. Seems in the USA honesty is quiet and dishonesty is loud, that's where the problem is. the real problem lies there, you have a job to do!
@daveni2 Its a little bit more complicated than that. There are many people like me who are very vocal. Unfortunately a very small percenatge of the population controls our media and political parties. If you speak out against this system, you're a radical...Just look how they demonized Occupy.
In addition, an extremely large number of Americans believe that the U.S health system is the most superior, and those with universal health care (like Canada and Europe) have third world level hospitals and medicine.
Another thing that should be noted is that most Americans rely on their jobs for health insurance. But guess what? Now in order to get that one must work the minumum full time hours required. But these days companies are not only laying off employees, but cutting their hours just below the required hours needed for health coverage so companies don't HAVE TO provide health coverage to workers. The USA has by far the sickest health care system in history. Even Nazis weren't that sick.
@CannedKoolaid Our doctors go to school for the same amount of years as the U.S. Doctor's are mostly fee for service in Canada, so the more patients you see, the more they make. Many specialist's in Canada bill well into the mid and upper 6 figures. Most family docs make $250 grand a year working less than 40 hours a week.
And no they don't do surgeries for free. They bill their service to the provincial insurance and they get paid that rate everytime.
@CannedKoolaid Wouldn't trade our system. Have a great family doc, and can usually get in to see him the same day. Any time I've needed or a family member needed urgent care, was seen immediately at the hospital. Like when my lung collapsed. We wait for more elective procedures like knee or hip surgery, but not for urgent cases.
@CannedKoolaid I have had to wait longer than I might like sometimes but I keep reminding myself, I don't have to do anything but drink coffee and be happy I am not at work lol
US healthcare is the most overpriced and the most inefficient among developed countries.
In a profit orientated system like the US one it's not profitable for the doctor and the pharma companies to cure the patient using the most efficient medical procedures but the most expensive one and to perform as many as possible unnecessary procedures just to increase the bill
In a profit orientated system doctors aren't paid to keep patients healthy. The more sick people are the more doctors earn.
I don't know why you think because we have universal healthcare, it automatically makes us socialist. Fuck me, look at fox news. They have been pumping out more propaganda than the soviet union. Its all fun and games, but when it comes down to re-financing your house and selling your car because your 10 year old daughter needs a blood transfusion, then reality sets in. But as soon as one repub opens his or hers eyes, they are quickly replaced with more brainwashed sadists.
Canadians believe in UNIVERSAL healthcare. Whether your a homeless person, a middle class person or fucking Jim carrey, everyone gets medical attention. The fox news propaganda about 6 month waits for MRIs are LIES. Look at it this way, do you want to pay 500000 for a heart transplant or get it for free? I've been to an american hospital when my sister broke her arm, the first thing they ask you is "and how will you be paying?". That cost my family 3000 dollars by the way. What a fucking joke.
@DBDMotorsports this is a lie ... all you had to say is that you're Canadian and the US would have sent the bill to your Gov .. it still cost the same price in Canada but it's free for you cuz the tax payers in Canada pay for the Universal Healthcare system .. Universal Healthcare is not Free ... people still send money to the Healthcare provider ie. Gov. in the form of Taxes ..which gives Healthcare to a Drunken Bum on the streets who don't pay taxes free healthcare :D
@SupaNami Well, like that guy said, fox news brain washed people are only hurting themselves with their ignorance. Your comments don't hurt us haha just you americans.
@DBDMotorsports why does everyone start off with Fox news? .. i don't even watch Fox New's ... why are the Useless Canadian System so evolved in the US system? .. you're system is not working .. you guys have wait times like a fucking BOSS ... you know your system is fail ... it takes workers to pay for ya Healthcare .. what if the US took ya jobs away from building cars or making car parts? ... and brought them back to the US ? .. what would you guys do then ? US is paying ya HC
@SupaNami Maybe your country should invest all the money its wasting in the war and pool it all into the education system... Because you are borderline illiterate. And incredibly ignorant. If you watch this video, you will get the facts. Not slurred right or left so politicians will get hand outs. Keep telling yourself that our healthcare system is broken, because you are hurting yourself and your countrymen, not us, because we are fine, healthy and having crazy sex with all the hot nurses!!!
@SupaNami We're not involved in the U.S. system, we are responding in this video to the ignorance, lies and misleading information from the likes of Fox news and pundits employed by them. We didn't bring ourselves into your healthcare debate, you brought us. And your typical ignorance is a good example as to why we must respond to straighten out ignorant fucks like you. And nice English dipshit.
@MadHabber93 it's Mad Hatter .. not Madhabber dip shit .. your English sucks .. and the fact that tax payers pay for ya free Health Care don't make it free :D ... someone is paying for it you stupid fuck .. sense ya used fuck, it think if was appropriate to say fuck :D .. again ask ya self this ? .. what if the US pulled it's Car industry out of Canada :D .. what would ya Free Health Care fall too :D
@SupaNami Its an avatar name you idiot. I'm a Habs fan, and I'm mad about them. So I used it as a take off from mad hatter fucknut.
And I never said our healthcare was free either sunshine.
And the U.S. car industry is in Canada because it costs less to produce cars here BECAUSE of our healthcare industry. Their insurance costs are FAR less here. Twit.
@MadHabber93 can i take your " Fucknut" and do something like FucknJucie ? .. anyway .. the US Companies are for cheap labor .. but it's not for HealthCare ..it's cuz of Taxes .. haha.. thats why Democrats want to keep taxes high :D .. they want people in the US dependent on the Gov .. like Canada is .. but if we bring our America BACK .. then your Healthcare will fall .. our Gov .. has sent shit over to other countries for Cheap slaves ... like Canada ... :D
@SupaNami Except we aren't dependant on gov't you fucking twit. ANd 'your AMerica' never went anywhere and our healthcare, just like it has for the last 40+ years, will still be there.
ANd really, stop snorting coke before getting on the net.
@MadHabber93 why are you so mad habber? ... you know that if America pulled out of Canada .. you're healthcare would come to a Holt ... we have done fine for 200+ without Free HealthCare .. the US already has free Healthcare .. it's called medicare for old people .. and medicaid for people who have no work ethic and live off our Gov.. called Welfare ... :D
@SupaNami You've done fine without healthcare? Are you really that fucking stupid or are you just a troll? Maybe both?!!!
THere are still MILLIONS that don't qualify for medicare or medicaid. THis results in bankruptcies, not to mention the 45,000 Americans that die EVERY year due to lack of access to care. Nice system dipshit.
And why would I be mad? I know that I'll always have access to care without ever worrying how I'll pay for it.
@SupaNami That's where a Canadian and an American are different. An American will look at that hobo and won't give two shits. A Canadian will toss that guy a toonie, buy him a double-double, give him a blanket, donate to his shelter. We believe that everybody has the right to fair and equal healthcare and the right to live. That's what makes us better than you, and that's why we are one of the most loved countries in the world and you guys are the most hated.
@DBDMotorsports ok first off, your Constitution was made in the 1980's .. our Constitution was made in the 1776.... and the Gov is not the answer to everyone's problems ..Gov. is the Problem .. all the US as to do .. is bring our Companies back to the US and you're free HC .. will no longer be free :D .. we give more than anyone in aid ... and yet we're still looked down open ? . why? it's cuz OUR Constitution if the BEST in the WORLD ... HC is being paid by US tax payers for you
@SupaNami Your thinking of the Canada Act of 1982. That says that we can change anything we want on our constitution (british north america acts 1867) without having to go to britain for approval. Fuck you buddy hahah
@DBDMotorsports again ... another dumbass that said he had to pay 2k for a broken arm .. that didn't know that he could send that bill to the Canadian Gov. ... you're a dumass dude .. have you even read ya Constitution ? .. guess what ? .. we in the US don't have to ask Permission from the British .. for anything ... again .. what will happen to Canada if we pull our factories out ? ... you will lose ya healthcare :D the US is a Super Power cuz of Freedom .. Canada is a slave
@SovereignStatesman Our doctors and health care providers are among the best in the world. If people like you get their way, it won't be long before the only way for the majority of people living in the USA to get health care will be to win it on a some demeaning reality show! And I'll pit Canadian doctors against your doctors anytime. By the way, there are some very good doctors in Mexico.
@sasksunwolf Canada has 3rd world heath care ...and usa health care if Free dumb asses ..the illegals get it everyday. mecicare medi cal..etc. you can go into any hospital in US they cannot turn you away in an emergency even if you have no id
@trugemini6382 I always love it when some yahoo American tells us we have 3rd healthcare, when you've probably never been to Canada, let alone a Canadian hospital. Then you turn around and say you all get healthcare when you don't even know your own hospital rules. They only have to treat you in an ER situation. They don't have to treat you for chronic illnesses. Hence why 2 Million American cancer patients had to forgo further treatment because they couldn't afford it.
@MadHabber93 i love it when you stupid canadians talk crap and yet know nothing.. Brock lesnar said it best himself he went to canada where he received 3rd world health care and nearly died. My mother in law recently went to the hospital for abdominal pains ,she has Free medical BTW.. they told her she has colon cancer and sent her to UCSF,university California San Francisco hospital mt. Zion , where she underwent surgury.100% free of charge and she is better then ever 3 weeks later
@trugemini6382 Your using Brock Lesnar??? Seriously? He was in the back woods of Manitoba and went to a rinky dink small community hospital. He would have gotten the same treatment in buck fuck Idaho as well Einstein. Stupid is using what's called 'anecdotal' evidience then trying to pass it off as fact. Great that your mother in law got treatment. You can tell those 2 million that didn't. I'm sure they'll give a crap.
@MadHabber93 my mother in law is covered under Medi Cal. BTW. the operation was covered fully and it was a success .. she is 68 yrs old. and had been diagnosed w colon cancer,,so your idiotic canadian assumption that cancer patients are not covered is a utter fail.had she been in canada there would be a 5 year wait list for sub par near 3rd world health care where it may have been a failure in the surgical room.and she may have died while waiting anyways.u take canada and shove it
@trugemini6382 Great. So she was covered by GOV'T insurance. So you support it then. Good for you. But guess what sunshine, unless you are over 65 or poor, you DON'T get covered under medicare. WOuld you like the link on those 2 Million. We don't wait for cancer treatment either you ignorant little boy. Of coure I know that, BECAUSE I LIVE HERE. You are a typical ignornat American who drinks the Koolaide from the likes of Fox News. Nice.
@MadHabber93 my mother is also a breast cancer survivor 16 years ago.it was fully covered under insurance .. if she had her operation in canada she would have waited a few years and the removal of cancer most likely would be incomplete and she may have gotten it again. and would have only survived another 10 years. get off the american invented internet and you tube , stop using our yahoo, google. get off our Iphones. USA is the IT capitol of the world. canada is nothing
@trugemini6382 Let me type slowly for you so you understand better. WE DON'T WAIT FOR CANCER TREATMENT. 5 year breast cancer survival rates in Canada and the U.S. are identical. Do you not understand the concept that I didn't say ALL cancer patients couldn't afford treatment, I said 2 million of them. According to 2 separate sources. One is the renowned British Medical Journal.
US cancer patients often forgo follow-up treatments because of cost BMJ (Published 21 June 2010)
@MadHabber93 like i said you are pulling your % from including entry level positions like mcdonalds, wendys, taco bell, ...every decent job i have had offered health insurance. that is the standard when graduating from a low entry level position to a career level position. I dont know anybody who would accept a respectable job who did not offre health insurance..to be hired part time from a fast food joint it is to be expected to not be offered health care.
@MadHabber93 there is a reason why u dumb idiot canadians are moving to the USA at a 4:1 ratio then us americans move there. and the life expectancy is only 60-65 in the north regions of canada. stop telling half the truth u filthy canadian.u think ur nation is so great ..there is nothing there.. california state alone has more population then all of canada..no one want to live in canada besides u dumb canadians. there are little opportunities in canada , face it.
@trugemini6382 What half truth you ignorant tool? That you know Jack shit about healthcare system? Go to cancer.ca and EDUCATE yourself. Google 2 Million American cancer patients forgo further treatment due to cost and EDUCATE yourself.
Then google Americans moving to Canada for jobs and EDUCATE yourself.
@MadHabber93 yes there are co-pays with employer provided insurance , usually it is free up to $10,000-$50,000 expense , then after that you are required to pay between 5-20% of the total cost .after the your cap is passed. depending on the quality of plan you have. Medi cal on the other hand is the best insurance because you are not required to pay anything back no co pay nothing. when my daughter was born it was fully covered free o charge for the week stay in the hospital.
@MadHabber93 as far as routine check ups, with your personally selected doctor ..they are covered. . i have never payed anything on a check up , Once i went to the ER no insurance i had kidney stones and stayed in the hospital 2 days, they gave x-rays and check for internal bleeding in case it might be a appendicitis.they did sonic therapy thay broke up the stones small enough to pass.i got the bill next month $7,000,they just said retro pay 90 days of insurance premiums = $ 650
@trugemini6382 Your situation is different, as you are under medi-cal. Which is obviously better than private insurance companies. It is more like our system.
@trugemini6382 where do you get your info from ..canada news central or what...every employer ive worked for has offered health care to full time employees. ..even in-n-out -burger and walmart. which are entry levels. send me a link and even then if it is written by a canadian ill be very skeptical yet .
@trugemini6382 "Most Americans -- 162 million -- get health insurance through their employers. Sixty percent of employers offer health benefits, according to a new survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research and Educational Trust"
@MadHabber93 uhh hello u dumb canadian...i am 30 yrs old and am covered under medi cal as well as my 2 yr daughter and 27yr old wife...u idiot saying that unless ur 65 or older obviously you know nothing.
@trugemini6382 So your covered...great. But YOU are not an entire country. How much do you make? Do you have a job? Why are you covered under a gov't insurance program? Millions in your country AREN'T covered.
@MadHabber93 u are getting your info from a canadian biast source . all canadians do is talk SHI!..so Brock got treatment at a rinky dinky canadian hospital. so u just admitted that canada has subpar medical facilities u idiot. no in the USA if a medical center is unable to provide care for certain situations they will transport you to a center specialized for the task at hand. the fact remain he got 3rd world treatment at a canadian certified health center.
@trugemini6382 What biased Canadian source?? And Lesnar could have and would have transferred to a major, world class, Canadian hospital in Winnipeg. I've been there. Have you? He decided to drive back over the border because he was ignorant of the care he would have received. Just like you are.
@MadHabber93 life ex. average for all candian is 80.7..USA is 79.4..and thats what happens when we have millions of legal or illegal immigrants from 3rd world countries all flocking here yearly
@MadHabber93 nope wrong again ,,Brock came back to USA and got PROPER treatment for his illness. he said it from his mouth and a few months later was healthy enough to fight and compete with the best fighters in the world. i am beginning to hate canada all u idiots flood Our you tube with stupid anti american statements ,,when we are the reason you have anything going on at all.
@trugemini6382 What did I get wrong? I said he went back. His perogitive. He had NO CLUE what treatment he would have received, just like you don't know because you are an ignorant tool.
Where have I been anti-American? I love the States and really like Americans. I HATE ignornat ones that think they know about something about us when they clearly know FUCK ALL.
@trugemini6382 And again, please look up the term anecdotal evidence. If you think the Lesnar case somehow paints a picture for an entire country, then you are a bigger fool then I thought. Please stop wasting my time.
@MadHabber93 yes i would like free health care for all americans but not at the expense of quality . and if you are middle class. making over $40k a year then no you dont qualify for medi-cal. but you can then also afford to pay $200 a month for a health care plan. also most all employers provide Good to excellent health coverage if you work over 32 hours per week
@trugemini6382 But that's where you are wrong. We don't lose quality because we are all covered. You just said your Mother in law got great care under a gov't healthcare. And only 60% of American employers provide some type of health insurance. That leaves a hell of a lot that don't. And it costs a lot more than $200/month for a family of 4 in the U.S. for insurance. How do you afford that when making $40 grand/year? Not to mention the deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance.
@MadHabber93 also the 2 million americans with chronic disease that have no health coverage. may seem like alot to canada with nearly 1/10 the population of USA...it is actually less then .64% of the population..and your statement of 2 million is over the period of many years.
@trugemini6382 According to the study, it was over the 2010 calendar year. And you don't go by the population, you go by the total number of cancer patients in the U.S., which is 12 million. That is nearly 10%. That is significant.
@MadHabber93 so 1 in 22 people in usa have cancer ..thats bullshit ...so that means when i wnet to the store today i saw maybe about 120 faces while walking around so about 7 of those people have been suffering from cancer ..according to those stats
@trugemini6382 "The National Cancer Institute estimates that nearly 12 million Americans with a history of cancer were alive in January 2008. Some of these individuals were cancer free, while others still had evidence of cancer and may have been undergoing treatment."
@MadHabber93 yes they are counted they come here and all die here hello ..there deaths are still documented ..maybe they did not exist when alive but unless they die and are buried in the back yard ..all hospital or home deaths are recorded illegal or not. like i said unless the family buries them in the back yard. or cremates them in the oven.
@MadHabber93 it cost me $200 to purchase health care for my solf. for a family of 3 it cost me $390 a month.ive looked into it. .and it is affordable because the gov, take less tax out of your check then it does in canada. your getting your 60% from employers like mcdonalds who cover only full time employees not part time part timers make up most of mcdonalds work force. . any respectable profession 99.9% has health insurance u idiot.
@trugemini6382 Look it up. Only 60% of employers provide health insurance. And your income taxes in Cali are virtually the same as mine in Ontario, but we get full coverage for that. What is your deductible? Co-pay? Co-insurance? Caps? We have none of that..
And show me the link on where you came up with $390/month.
And again, cancer survival rates here are virtually the same here as the States, so telling me your stories means nothing. Please, I beg you, look up anecdotal evidence.
@MadHabber93 every person with cancer ive known have been treated and survived ,besides my grandfather who smoked for 40 years and refused to ever step a foot in a hospital until it was too late. and im positive we are the hardest working country in researching a true cure for cancer.
@MadHabber93 because illegals all come here and die here ..they will most likely die at home or in a us hospital. the hospital must document all persons who die illegal or not. and unless that illegal dies alone with no other family already here , or is buried secretly by the family .. they will be accounted for. and how do i know they decrease life expectancy is because they come from a 3rd world country with never having even seen a doctor. in most cases there whole life.
@MadHabber93 the largest number of immigrants that come here are mexicans whose life expectancy is 76.2 yrs. other high immigrant populations are filipinos 71.7yrs,and indians 64.7 yrs.
@trugemini6382 In addition, our taxes aren't much more than yours, but it guarantee's we ALL get access to timely, EXCELLENT healthcare without ever having to worry about the cost. Time to do some research sunshine.
@trugemini6382 Like vaccinations, penicillin, isolation of insulin to treat diabetes and heart transplants? Not from the USA. It's a nice statement but I'd like to see you back it up.
The fact remains that before canadian healthcare Americans has longer lifespans than Canadians. Today the lifespan in Canada is 80.7 and in the US it is 77.9. The numbers do not lie!!!!
Americans who want a "universal healthcare" system should just create an op-in co-op for themselves and leave the rest of us out of it. No reason to wait for the government to do it. You have the freedom. Use it.
Problem is, Not everyone can afford it. You must cut out the corruption, then and only then can you do a co-op system. and don't forget the fight to get the system running will most likely be lost, the money will be on the other side. you Live Together, or Die Devided, (Julius Cesar).
Our children and their children will be stuck with the tab we are so deep in the red ink. The government adds this to the debt. At least the Americans are paying their own bill. Move to Calgary and try to find a doctor lol..lol. how about an MRI..6 months, non-trauma in the hospital..10 hours. No malpractice suits. Huge brain drain to the US.Can not fund itself so taxpayers pay extra and still deep in the red ink. 6 months to 1 year for specialist. Only women ,immigrant doctors afford stay here
@bigtarrose Average posted wait times for NON-urgent MRI's in Alberta is 6 to 8 weeks, not months. There is no longer a brain drain to the U.S.,as the last 8 years has seen more docs returning to Canada then going south. Our debt to GDP rato is 1/3 of that as the U.S. & we cover EVERYONE. 60% of all bankruptcies in the U.S. are medically related. 45,000 Americans die every year due to lack of access to care. A study of over 5000 Canadians revealed an avg. wait time of 4.2 weeks for specialist.
@MadHabber93 Sounds like you have never been deathly ill or had a girlfriend that was a head RN at a major city hospital. The only way they paid the medicare debt was by stealing from Unemployment benefits and the taxpayer. In Alberta we pay 0% into the plan because we steal royalties from Capitalist investors in the oil patch. Because of our Socialist/Marxist policys the American investors left causing a down turn in the whole economy. What is wrong with a user pay system and no taxes?
@bigtarrose First off, yes I've been very ill. WHen my lung collapsed, if I didn't receive immediate care I would have been dead within hours. WHen my wife needed emergency c-section surgery, she got it..her life and my daughter's life saved. When my mother needed emergency, life saving bowel surgery, she got it. My neighbour's cancer, treated..both cured. Our close friends daughter's stroke, detected right away, life saved. This happens EVERY day in our system.
@bigtarrose Your whole socialist/marxist policies sounds like a page out of the American Tea Party handbook, yet we are creating jobs in this supposed socialist utopia. Forbes magazine, heard of that one? They just posted Canada as the best country in which to do business in on the planet. Really?? How can that be with all these marxists controlling everything here in Canada??? Please, take your neo-conservative, blinded head out of your ass and educate yourself.
@bigtarrose For your idea of 0% taxes and user pay for healthcare. Probably one of THE dumbest ideas I've heard of. So, how does one pay for a disease that causes them to be unable to work?? How do they pay for their healthcare services with no income?? THat's right..they don't. So I guess your idea of a good system is hoping you never get sick?? Wow, sign me up for that one!!!
Too bad you live in a country where 90% FULLY support the premise of Universal Healthcare.
@urinfamousr79 You think those with serious or even semi-serious health problems pay for ALL of their own healthcare costs? Do have a clue how much some people have to pay for monthly, yearly, life long treatments?? 5, 6 or 7 figures.
@urinfamousr79 What do you call regular insurance? Everyone who buys regular health insurance pools their money together & it goes to pay for those that need the care. Universal Insurance is do different, it just uses a larger pool of everyone that pays taxes. THe difference? Citizens with countries with Universal healthcare don't wait until the cost of treating a disease becomes much more expensive, thereby defaulting on paying for it, thereby causing premiums to go up. YOU still pay for them.
@MadHabber93 I agree that health care in the United States is not working, but Universal insurance is not the solution. I have a big issue when 57% of Canadians have to wait 30 days before they can see a specialist. To get a CAT or MRI it takes about two weeks. Lets not forget about the 10% of total canadian population who have to wait about 3 months for medical service. Its more like 34% of citizens in favor of a Universal Healthcare, with a majority (52%) opposed. Rasmussen Reports FTW
@Faultypants You are basing those wait times for non-urgent care. We don't wait to see a specialist for urgent, needed care. Period. How long do MILLIONS in the STates wait to get an MRI when they can't afford it, let alone the procedure needed to correct their condition that the MRI diagnosed.
We wait 3 months for kind of medical care?? And in Canada, 90% fully support our system. I was not talking about U.S. numbers. ANd the Rasmussen is only one poll. Others show a majority.
@MadHabber93 Other polls in the United States do not in fact show the majority supporting Universal Healthcare, but if you are talking about in Canada, im sure your right.
@MadHabber93 "how does one pay for a disease that causes them to be unable to work??" Compensation? being Charitable?
"How do they pay for their healthcare services with no income??" Get a Job?
"So I guess your idea of a good system is hoping you never get sick?? " No the idea is to NOT have the government nanny our life decisions and Standardize an entire medical system that has ALREADY been damaged by the FDA and many other government programs.
Compensation....not sure what you mean there. For Charitable, there isn't enough charity supply to cover the demand of those left out of the system.
"Get a job?" I guess you are the only one of the plantet not aware of the massive job problem
"No the idea is to NOT have the government nanny our life decisions and Standardize an entire medical system that has ALREADY been damaged by the FDA and many other government programs." Crock of b.s.
@MadHabber93 It's called insurance you fool. It's called not expecting someone else to pay for you mistakes if you didn't insure yourself beforehand. In a free-market system, with no restrictions, insurance would be highly customized and diverse in options. What we see in the US is a highly regulated market, which increases administrative costs for the doctors and insurers. Here in canada we are getting deeper into debt because of all these social programs and taxes, not to mention regulation.
@LasagnaIsGood At 26, you have a lot to learn. I always laugh when an American drinks the koolaide about why costs are high in the U.S., I cringe when its a Canadian. Costs are high in the States because they have the freest healthcare market on the planet, yet operating costs, doctor charges, hospital charges are the highest on the planet as well. It has nothing to do with regulation. Our costs are low BECAUSE of regulation. Our debt is also the lowest in G8.
@MadHabber93 And again I am telling you, they have a highly regulated market. Have you seen the legal regulations imposed on doctors and insurers there!? Have you seen their medicade costs!?
Now look at lil' us, a population of 36million, the lowest debt in the G8... IS THAT A SUPRISE TO YOU!? Why don't you measure our national debt per capita. It is very scary. But hey i get your point, at least we are not england, horray! I guess it's really our fault, democracy gives us exactly what we want.
@LasagnaIsGood You can tell me all you want, you are still wrong. Doctors & hospitals are free to charge insurers & patients whatever they want. That is NOT regulation. We, on the other hand, keep costs less than there's THROUGH regulation.
And I was referring to Canada having the lowest DEBT TO GDP RATIO, that IS per capita. Our debt to GDP ratio is about 33%, NOT very scary, but does need to managed. It was much higher in the 90's, when you were 6. Like I said, you have a lot to learn.
@MadHabber93 Sure they can charge the amounts they want, but that doesn't really make any sense when there are monopolies in the system, which don't provide any competition. There are monopolies because of the regulation. Even we can't keep our check books balanced, considering we only spend half as much per capita, but that isn't much of a feat considering we are comparing ourselves to the highly regulated US market.
@LasagnaIsGood As for our national debt, It fluctuates regularly but the avg is about 50%, but even that is the tip of the iceberg because we are not taking into account provincial and municipal debt.
@LasagnaIsGood You keep blurting out regulation, but then you say they can charge whatever they want. Like I said, you have a lot to learn. They have NO PRICE REGULATIONS, hence their HIGHER COSTS.
And although, true, debt to GDP ratio's due fluctuate it is still currently 33%. And when talking debt to GDP ratio's, all other countries don't factor in their state or local debt's either.
@MadHabber93 And again, charging whatever you want when you don't have competition isn't free market, you can call it capitalism, but it isn't free market cuz there is no market. And you can blame that on corporate interest that is allowed to manifest within their government. The reason our system is more "efficient" is because we completely outlawed private health care and centralized the system. And just because we do it more efficiently doesn't mean we are not running a deficient that will haunt us
@LasagnaIsGood you can't trust the government not to run any deficits with social spending because their budget is unlimited. They can simply print out more money and issue government bonds. And that is exactly what the majority asked for in Canada. We asked to be in debt to fund our social programs, and the generation that asked for it(YOU)are not paying for it and leaving it to us to pay for with our taxes, while you retire and live off government paychecks(not you necessary but you get the point)
@LasagnaIs And again you are wrong. Almost all doctors & hospitals are privately run, in addition to private for profit clinics throughout Canada. And you clearly don't understand what a free market is, not to mention all free markets have some sort of regulation in place. And spare me the 'my generation' when many generations have created deficits & will continue too. Not all spending is for NEEDED social programs either. And who said I don't support paying down debts & eliminating deficits.
@MadHabber93 lol just because they are privately run does not mean they operate in a free market. If they wish to receive public funding for their services, they cannot charge directly to the patient. And of course they wont do that when the government is handing out free money so the non-funded clinics cant compete. It is practically owtlawed. There is no competition, the prices are set by the gov. That means a diminished quality of health care overtime, and an increased deficit for the gov.
@LasagnaIsGood And I don't think you have noticed, paying off deficets is very hard. It's not just as easy as saying "tax the rich". Someones gotta pay for our wild shopping spree.
@LasagnaIsGood And paying off deficits can be done, through proper management, not new taxes for anyone. The Liberals did it in the late 90's. YOu may not be aware of this, but Canada ran surpluses for nearly a decade before the 2008 recession.
@MadHabber93 Oh, wow amazing, a couple of billion knocked off a 500billion deficit, what an improvement! In reality a couple of years of surplus from irregularities in economic climate doesn't make up for 40+ years of deficits.
@LasagnaIsGood With my view on healthcare, I admit I didn't know that. But that still doesn't mean I agree. I am not saying hosipals should be in competition with each other but the insurance companies. Currently we don't have that and there is nothing in place to ensure the best quality health care possible for the lowest price. Our health care system is in constant need of funding with no signs of it improving.
@LasagnaIsGood If we had insurers fighting for our healthcare they could find ways to do it cheaper(for example lower premiums for mandatory checkups) with no cost to the taxpayers. Currently It is Impossible for an insurance company to compete with medicares constant money supply. There is no competitive environment.
@LasagnaIs A couple of Billion?? We knocked off far more than that, cutting our debt to GDP ratio by 1/2 over the last decade. & you want for profit insurance that Millions of Americans can't afford, treat you as a commodity, drop you at a whim, deductibles of thousands of dollars??? Insurance companies PROVIDE zero to the healthcare industry. They provide no research, no incentives, no anything. And there is everything in place to ensure top quality, as we have insurance out of the way.
@SovereignStatesman Try studying other healthcare systems. The U.S. system, which is insurance run, is FAR FAR more expensive than EVERY other healthcare systems on the planet. And better service for whom?? Those that can afford it? Fuck the rest eh? Nice system.
YOu have NO CLUE on reality, but thanks for your ignorance.
Facing reality isn't ignorance, it's intelligence. In a free market, you get what you pay for, and other countries impose price-controls that end up with shortages and rationing-- i.e. people doing without, when they need it most.
OBG care consists of abortion at the first sign of trouble, hysterectomy at the first tumor, and other cheap cost-saving butchery and meatball-surgery
The first rule of accounting is "There Aint No Such Thing as a Free Lunch."
@SovereignStatesman Yes, and the ultimate in rationing is NEVER getting treated like Millions of Americans EVERY year.
People in countries with UHC get care when they MOST need it, without EVER having to worry about cost, or getting denied by the PRIVATE insurance company.
I never said it was free either sunshine.
That's why there isn't one country that wants to follow the U.S. system. Not one. Gee, I wonder why?
Your free market utopia that Ron Paul preaches doesn't work in healthcare.
Like all libs, you're too intellectually dishonest and stupid to hold an intelligent conversation about this subject. You're making false arguments based on false allegations, in addition to basing it all on the fact that a few people can't afford it.
By that token, we should close all private restaurants, and we should all be eating in soup-kitchens like in Maoist China.

Thank you for posting; this is a good primary resource. Not all Americans feel Canada is doing it wrong. In the old days America would look at the achievements of other countries and duplicate or improve upon them. I fear those days are behind us. The we're #1 chant rings pretty hollow for the average American.
timfmr 3 weeks ago
@timfmr why are Americans like you the quiet ones. Seems in the USA honesty is quiet and dishonesty is loud, that's where the problem is. the real problem lies there, you have a job to do!
daveni2 2 weeks ago

I got some questions. How many years do their doctors go to college? How much do their doctors get paid? Do they do major surgeries for free?
CannedKoolaid 1 month ago
@CannedKoolaid Our doctors go to school for the same amount of years as the U.S. Doctor's are mostly fee for service in Canada, so the more patients you see, the more they make. Many specialist's in Canada bill well into the mid and upper 6 figures. Most family docs make $250 grand a year working less than 40 hours a week.
And no they don't do surgeries for free. They bill their service to the provincial insurance and they get paid that rate everytime.
MadHabber93 1 month ago
@MadHabber93 Oh okay thanks. I was just curious. Do you like it? Is there long waits and shit?
CannedKoolaid 1 month ago
@CannedKoolaid Wouldn't trade our system. Have a great family doc, and can usually get in to see him the same day. Any time I've needed or a family member needed urgent care, was seen immediately at the hospital. Like when my lung collapsed.

@MadHabber93 u are getting your info from a canadian biast source . all canadians do is talk SHI!..so Brock got treatment at a rinky dinky canadian hospital. so u just admitted that canada has subpar medical facilities u idiot. no in the USA if a medical center is unable to provide care for certain situations they will transport you to a center specialized for the task at hand. the fact remain he got 3rd world treatment at a canadian certified health center.
trugemini6382 1 month ago
@trugemini6382 What biased Canadian source?? And Lesnar could have and would have transferred to a major, world class, Canadian hospital in Winnipeg. I've been there. Have you? He decided to drive back over the border because he was ignorant of the care he would have received. Just like you are.
MadHabber93 1 month ago
@MadHabber93 life ex. average for all candian is 80.7..USA is 79.4..and thats what happens when we have millions of legal or illegal immigrants from 3rd world countries all flocking here yearly
trugemini6382 1 month ago
@trugemini6382 Illegal immigrants are not counted. How can they be? They don't exist?? Hello???
MadHabber93 1 month ago
@MadHabber93 nope wrong again ,,Brock came back to USA and got PROPER treatment for his illness. he said it from his mouth and a few months later was healthy enough to fight and compete with the best fighters in the world. i am beginning to hate canada all u idiots flood Our you tube with stupid anti american statements ,,when we are the reason you have anything going on at all.

@trugemini6382 What did I get wrong? I said he went back. His perogitive. He had NO CLUE what treatment he would have received, just like you don't know because you are an ignorant tool.

@trugemini6382 And again, please look up the term anecdotal evidence. If you think the Lesnar case somehow paints a picture for an entire country, then you are a bigger fool then I thought. Please stop wasting my time.
MadHabber93 1 month ago
@MadHabber93 yes i would like free health care for all americans but not at the expense of quality . and if you are middle class. making over $40k a year then no you dont qualify for medi-cal. but you can then also afford to pay $200 a month for a health care plan. also most all employers provide Good to excellent health coverage if you work over 32 hours per week
trugemini6382 1 month ago
@trugemini6382 But that's where you are wrong. We don't lose quality because we are all covered. You just said your Mother in law got great care under a gov't healthcare. And only 60% of American employers provide some type of health insurance. That leaves a hell of a lot that don't. And it costs a lot more than $200/month for a family of 4 in the U.S. for insurance. How do you afford that when making $40 grand/year? Not to mention the deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance.
MadHabber93 1 month ago
@MadHabber93 also the 2 million americans with chronic disease that have no health coverage. may seem like alot to canada with nearly 1/10 the population of USA...it is actually less then .64% of the population..and your statement of 2 million is over the period of many years.
trugemini6382 1 month ago
@trugemini6382 According to the study, it was over the 2010 calendar year. And you don't go by the population, you go by the total number of cancer patients in the U.S., which is 12 million. That is nearly 10%. That is significant.
MadHabber93 1 month ago
@MadHabber93 so 1 in 22 people in usa have cancer ..thats bullshit ...so that means when i wnet to the store today i saw maybe about 120 faces while walking around so about 7 of those people have been suffering from cancer ..according to those stats
trugemini6382 1 month ago
@trugemini6382 "The National Cancer Institute estimates that nearly 12 million Americans with a history of cancer were alive in January 2008. Some of these individuals were cancer free, while others still had evidence of cancer and may have been undergoing treatment."

@MadHabber93 yes they are counted they come here and all die here hello ..there deaths are still documented ..maybe they did not exist when alive but unless they die and are buried in the back yard ..all hospital or home deaths are recorded illegal or not. like i said unless the family buries them in the back yard. or cremates them in the oven.
trugemini6382 1 month ago
@trugemini6382 Sorry dude, can't see how they would be counted. And how do you know that they aren't raising your life expectancy?
MadHabber93 1 month ago
@MadHabber93 it cost me $200 to purchase health care for my solf. for a family of 3 it cost me $390 a month.ive looked into it. .and it is affordable because the gov, take less tax out of your check then it does in canada. your getting your 60% from employers like mcdonalds who cover only full time employees not part time part timers make up most of mcdonalds work force. . any respectable profession 99.9% has health insurance u idiot.
trugemini6382 1 month ago
@trugemini6382 Look it up. Only 60% of employers provide health insurance. And your income taxes in Cali are virtually the same as mine in Ontario, but we get full coverage for that. What is your deductible? Co-pay? Co-insurance? Caps? We have none of that..
And show me the link on where you came up with $390/month.
And again, cancer survival rates here are virtually the same here as the States, so telling me your stories means nothing. Please, I beg you, look up anecdotal evidence.
MadHabber93 1 month ago
@MadHabber93 every person with cancer ive known have been treated and survived ,besides my grandfather who smoked for 40 years and refused to ever step a foot in a hospital until it was too late. and im positive we are the hardest working country in researching a true cure for cancer.
trugemini6382 1 month ago
@MadHabber93 because illegals all come here and die here ..they will most likely die at home or in a us hospital. the hospital must document all persons who die illegal or not. and unless that illegal dies alone with no other family already here , or is buried secretly by the family .. they will be accounted for. and how do i know they decrease life expectancy is because they come from a 3rd world country with never having even seen a doctor. in most cases there whole life.
trugemini6382 1 month ago
@MadHabber93 the largest number of immigrants that come here are mexicans whose life expectancy is 76.2 yrs. other high immigrant populations are filipinos 71.7yrs,and indians 64.7 yrs.

UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE 2016 ELECTION
berbatovinho77 4 months ago
Americans who want a "universal healthcare" system should just create an op-in co-op for themselves and leave the rest of us out of it. No reason to wait for the government to do it. You have the freedom. Use it.
bill4long 4 months ago
Problem is, Not everyone can afford it. You must cut out the corruption, then and only then can you do a co-op system. and don't forget the fight to get the system running will most likely be lost, the money will be on the other side. you Live Together, or Die Devided, (Julius Cesar).
Bardock2010 4 months ago
Our children and their children will be stuck with the tab we are so deep in the red ink. The government adds this to the debt. At least the Americans are paying their own bill. Move to Calgary and try to find a doctor lol..lol. how about an MRI..6 months, non-trauma in the hospital..10 hours. No malpractice suits. Huge brain drain to the US.Can not fund itself so taxpayers pay extra and still deep in the red ink. 6 months to 1 year for specialist. Only women ,immigrant doctors afford stay here
bigtarrose 4 months ago
@bigtarrose Average posted wait times for NON-urgent MRI's in Alberta is 6 to 8 weeks, not months. There is no longer a brain drain to the U.S.,as the last 8 years has seen more docs returning to Canada then going south. Our debt to GDP rato is 1/3 of that as the U.S. & we cover EVERYONE. 60% of all bankruptcies in the U.S. are medically related. 45,000 Americans die every year due to lack of access to care. A study of over 5000 Canadians revealed an avg. wait time of 4.2 weeks for specialist.
MadHabber93 4 months ago
@MadHabber93 Sounds like you have never been deathly ill or had a girlfriend that was a head RN at a major city hospital. The only way they paid the medicare debt was by stealing from Unemployment benefits and the taxpayer. In Alberta we pay 0% into the plan because we steal royalties from Capitalist investors in the oil patch. Because of our Socialist/Marxist policys the American investors left causing a down turn in the whole economy. What is wrong with a user pay system and no taxes?
bigtarrose 4 months ago
@bigtarrose First off, yes I've been very ill. WHen my lung collapsed, if I didn't receive immediate care I would have been dead within hours. WHen my wife needed emergency c-section surgery, she got it..her life and my daughter's life saved. When my mother needed emergency, life saving bowel surgery, she got it. My neighbour's cancer, treated..both cured. Our close friends daughter's stroke, detected right away, life saved. This happens EVERY day in our system.
MadHabber93 4 months ago
@bigtarrose Your whole socialist/marxist policies sounds like a page out of the American Tea Party handbook, yet we are creating jobs in this supposed socialist utopia. Forbes magazine, heard of that one? They just posted Canada as the best country in which to do business in on the planet. Really?? How can that be with all these marxists controlling everything here in Canada??? Please, take your neo-conservative, blinded head out of your ass and educate yourself.
MadHabber93 4 months ago
@bigtarrose For your idea of 0% taxes and user pay for healthcare. Probably one of THE dumbest ideas I've heard of. So, how does one pay for a disease that causes them to be unable to work?? How do they pay for their healthcare services with no income?? THat's right..they don't. So I guess your idea of a good system is hoping you never get sick?? Wow, sign me up for that one!!!
Too bad you live in a country where 90% FULLY support the premise of Universal Healthcare.
MadHabber93 4 months ago 13
@MadHabber93 yes why shoul YOU pay for ur own health care issues? let it fall on someone else to pay ur bills...even better idea
urinfamousr79 4 months ago
@urinfamousr79 You think those with serious or even semi-serious health problems pay for ALL of their own healthcare costs? Do have a clue how much some people have to pay for monthly, yearly, life long treatments?? 5, 6 or 7 figures.
MadHabber93 4 months ago
@MadHabber93 so ur rationale is that people should be forced to pay for other peoples health problems?
urinfamousr79 4 months ago
@urinfamousr79 What do you call regular insurance? Everyone who buys regular health insurance pools their money together & it goes to pay for those that need the care. Universal Insurance is do different, it just uses a larger pool of everyone that pays taxes. THe difference? Citizens with countries with Universal healthcare don't wait until the cost of treating a disease becomes much more expensive, thereby defaulting on paying for it, thereby causing premiums to go up. YOU still pay for them.
MadHabber93 4 months ago
@MadHabber93 I agree that health care in the United States is not working, but Universal insurance is not the solution. I have a big issue when 57% of Canadians have to wait 30 days before they can see a specialist. To get a CAT or MRI it takes about two weeks. Lets not forget about the 10% of total canadian population who have to wait about 3 months for medical service. Its more like 34% of citizens in favor of a Universal Healthcare, with a majority (52%) opposed. Rasmussen Reports FTW
Faultypants 3 months ago
@Faultypants You are basing those wait times for non-urgent care. We don't wait to see a specialist for urgent, needed care. Period. How long do MILLIONS in the STates wait to get an MRI when they can't afford it, let alone the procedure needed to correct their condition that the MRI diagnosed.
We wait 3 months for kind of medical care?? And in Canada, 90% fully support our system. I was not talking about U.S. numbers. ANd the Rasmussen is only one poll. Others show a majority.
MadHabber93 3 months ago
@MadHabber93 Other polls in the United States do not in fact show the majority supporting Universal Healthcare, but if you are talking about in Canada, im sure your right.

Compensation....not sure what you mean there. For Charitable, there isn't enough charity supply to cover the demand of those left out of the system.

MadHabber93 3 months ago
@MadHabber93 It's called insurance you fool. It's called not expecting someone else to pay for you mistakes if you didn't insure yourself beforehand. In a free-market system, with no restrictions, insurance would be highly customized and diverse in options. What we see in the US is a highly regulated market, which increases administrative costs for the doctors and insurers. Here in canada we are getting deeper into debt because of all these social programs and taxes, not to mention regulation.
LasagnaIsGood 2 months ago
@LasagnaIsGood At 26, you have a lot to learn. I always laugh when an American drinks the koolaide about why costs are high in the U.S., I cringe when its a Canadian. Costs are high in the States because they have the freest healthcare market on the planet, yet operating costs, doctor charges, hospital charges are the highest on the planet as well. It has nothing to do with regulation. Our costs are low BECAUSE of regulation. Our debt is also the lowest in G8.
MadHabber93 2 months ago
@MadHabber93 And again I am telling you, they have a highly regulated market. Have you seen the legal regulations imposed on doctors and insurers there!? Have you seen their medicade costs!?
Now look at lil' us, a population of 36million, the lowest debt in the G8... IS THAT A SUPRISE TO YOU!? Why don't you measure our national debt per capita. It is very scary. But hey i get your point, at least we are not england, horray! I guess it's really our fault, democracy gives us exactly what we want.
LasagnaIsGood 2 months ago
@LasagnaIsGood You can tell me all you want, you are still wrong. Doctors & hospitals are free to charge insurers & patients whatever they want. That is NOT regulation. We, on the other hand, keep costs less than there's THROUGH regulation.
And I was referring to Canada having the lowest DEBT TO GDP RATIO, that IS per capita. Our debt to GDP ratio is about 33%, NOT very scary, but does need to managed. It was much higher in the 90's, when you were 6. Like I said, you have a lot to learn.
MadHabber93 2 months ago
@MadHabber93 Sure they can charge the amounts they want, but that doesn't really make any sense when there are monopolies in the system, which don't provide any competition. There are monopolies because of the regulation. Even we can't keep our check books balanced, considering we only spend half as much per capita, but that isn't much of a feat considering we are comparing ourselves to the highly regulated US market.
LasagnaIsGood 2 months ago
@LasagnaIsGood As for our national debt, It fluctuates regularly but the avg is about 50%, but even that is the tip of the iceberg because we are not taking into account provincial and municipal debt.
LasagnaIsGood 2 months ago
@LasagnaIsGood You keep blurting out regulation, but then you say they can charge whatever they want. Like I said, you have a lot to learn. They have NO PRICE REGULATIONS, hence their HIGHER COSTS.
And although, true, debt to GDP ratio's due fluctuate it is still currently 33%. And when talking debt to GDP ratio's, all other countries don't factor in their state or local debt's either.
MadHabber93 2 months ago
@MadHabber93 And again, charging whatever you want when you don't have competition isn't free market, you can call it capitalism, but it isn't free market cuz there is no market. And you can blame that on corporate interest that is allowed to manifest within their government. The reason our system is more "efficient" is because we completely outlawed private health care and centralized the system. And just because we do it more efficiently doesn't mean we are not running a deficient that will haunt us
LasagnaIsGood 2 months ago
@LasagnaIsGood you can't trust the government not to run any deficits with social spending because their budget is unlimited. They can simply print out more money and issue government bonds. And that is exactly what the majority asked for in Canada. We asked to be in debt to fund our social programs, and the generation that asked for it(YOU)are not paying for it and leaving it to us to pay for with our taxes, while you retire and live off government paychecks(not you necessary but you get the point)
LasagnaIsGood 2 months ago
@LasagnaIs And again you are wrong. Almost all doctors & hospitals are privately run, in addition to private for profit clinics throughout Canada. And you clearly don't understand what a free market is, not to mention all free markets have some sort of regulation in place. And spare me the 'my generation' when many generations have created deficits & will continue too. Not all spending is for NEEDED social programs either. And who said I don't support paying down debts & eliminating deficits.
MadHabber93 2 months ago
@MadHabber93 lol just because they are privately run does not mean they operate in a free market. If they wish to receive public funding for their services, they cannot charge directly to the patient. And of course they wont do that when the government is handing out free money so the non-funded clinics cant compete. It is practically owtlawed. There is no competition, the prices are set by the gov. That means a diminished quality of health care overtime, and an increased deficit for the gov.
LasagnaIsGood 2 months ago
@LasagnaIsGood And I don't think you have noticed, paying off deficets is very hard. It's not just as easy as saying "tax the rich". Someones gotta pay for our wild shopping spree.
LasagnaIsGood 2 months ago
@LasagnaIsGood And paying off deficits can be done, through proper management, not new taxes for anyone. The Liberals did it in the late 90's. YOu may not be aware of this, but Canada ran surpluses for nearly a decade before the 2008 recession.
MadHabber93 2 months ago
@MadHabber93 Oh, wow amazing, a couple of billion knocked off a 500billion deficit, what an improvement! In reality a couple of years of surplus from irregularities in economic climate doesn't make up for 40+ years of deficits.
LasagnaIsGood 2 months ago
@LasagnaIsGood With my view on healthcare, I admit I didn't know that. But that still doesn't mean I agree. I am not saying hosipals should be in competition with each other but the insurance companies. Currently we don't have that and there is nothing in place to ensure the best quality health care possible for the lowest price. Our health care system is in constant need of funding with no signs of it improving.
LasagnaIsGood 2 months ago
@LasagnaIsGood If we had insurers fighting for our healthcare they could find ways to do it cheaper(for example lower premiums for mandatory checkups) with no cost to the taxpayers. Currently It is Impossible for an insurance company to compete with medicares constant money supply. There is no competitive environment.
LasagnaIsGood 2 months ago
@LasagnaIs A couple of Billion?? We knocked off far more than that, cutting our debt to GDP ratio by 1/2 over the last decade. & you want for profit insurance that Millions of Americans can't afford, treat you as a commodity, drop you at a whim, deductibles of thousands of dollars??? Insurance companies PROVIDE zero to the healthcare industry. They provide no research, no incentives, no anything. And there is everything in place to ensure top quality, as we have insurance out of the way.

MadHabber93 2 months ago
@MadHabber93
SovereignStatesman 2 months ago
@SovereignStatesman Yes, and the ultimate in rationing is NEVER getting treated like Millions of Americans EVERY year.
People in countries with UHC get care when they MOST need it, without EVER having to worry about cost, or getting denied by the PRIVATE insurance company.
I never said it was free either sunshine.
That's why there isn't one country that wants to follow the U.S. system. Not one. Gee, I wonder why?
Your free market utopia that Ron Paul preaches doesn't work in healthcare.
