That kicked ass lol , im on my bro's accout lol but im his sis, and im just gonna say. you ROCKED that song, that was amazing, i loved it already, but the piano was awsome :)
I don't want to debate which version of this song was better because both Zeppelin's original version and Tool's cover were fantastic. I think this song might be better than "Stairway To Heaven."
no quarter is by far the greatest song out there. the way it touches me (not like a sick sedistic child molest touch, but like a reaching into the soul touch) is beyond words. tool did an amazing thing redoing no quarter, and made it into something even more. you gotta do this whole song dude, your fucking excellent, wish i could play piano like that.
This sounds great, but it's a shame that it's so short! It'd be great if it were at least 5 minutes or so - I think the original is upwards of 6 or 7 minutes long?
Ya Youtube kinda sucks in that, I bet 100% that it'll happen to my comment too and when people will read it, they'll say "Wtf? What is he talking about?"
thats so sweet... it would be interesting to see a recording of this with those phase effects J.P.J. uses... and a backing band... although ive yet to see a guitarist do jimmy page justice on youtube but still.
There's no organ on No Quarter. On the album it was a Hohner electric piano and a grand piano on the solo, live it was either just a Rhodes electric piano with a phaser effect or Rhodes along with a grand piano or like in Knebworth '79, an electric grand. The organ seen on The Song Remains the Same movie is just a prop, just like Jonesy's wig.
I know this is probably pointless to ask, but I've just recently started teaching myself piano, and I was wondering if you had sheet music for this song or any other Zeppelin songs that you could send me. It would be much appreciated, but if not, I understand.
thank god, i was hoping so much that you'd do no quarter, i started teaching my self piano a few months ago, and i figured out most of the song by my self, but i really wanna look in to classical lessons once the school year ends, i need a refresher on sheet music too, i'm i drummer, so drum sheet music is easy to read. i can read piano music, but it takes a while, sight reading is certainly a nightmare. anyways, keep up the good work, i love how all your covers are songs from my favorite bands.
GET yourself to a Huge Chapel Organ!!! dress yourself in period style stage coach outfit and play an extended version of this song, video it in top quality and GET it on here ASAP! failing that just redo it but a nice long version and repost please...
Im sure this cover has its critics but its done its job for me, it took me to a place I need to be closer too Im sure of it, apsofuckinglutely Classic!.
as much as every one else's "suggestions" "should" be helping you, I think that its amazing how you play it, it creates the mental image of how you see it, now how it was originally played
i normally just do the song in whatever key its written in, which is C#minor in this case, im pretty sure the version on houses of the holy is in c#min not d minor but i could be wrong
the track was slowed down to drop the pitch a 1/2 step and give it a darker feel. if you play it in Dm you'll see 99% of it is on the white notes... JPJ was very clever but he did keep it simple. check out some live stuff and you'll see what I mean.
I guess nobody ever trained you how to use the English language... by the way, please leave the white rapper shit on our side of the border, it shouldn't spread to your country too... Thumphrey you sound great, keep it up.
wow that was really pretty. other cover songs from rock bands really dont sound good on piano. its just not the same. but leave it up to a led zeppelin song to sound amazing. plus, you were pretty damn good too. :) do you know where i can find the sheet music??

the LEd Zep orig is like 4 minutes and some change the Tool version is over 7 minutes they are both amazing and great songs.
goomba76 3 years ago
And of course the 20min+ live versions by Led Zeppelin should be listened to
dogosgear 3 years ago 3
The original Led Zeppelin studio version was 7 minutes, live versions were as long as 30 minutes or more (1975 and 77 tours).
If you only have a 4 minute Zeppelin version, you're missing out on a lot!

I'm not talking about the video. It's good. I'm replying to goomba76's comment:
"the LEd Zep orig is like 4 minutes and some change the Tool version is over 7 minutes they are both amazing and great songs."
Unfortunately, YouTube's comment system doesn't always make it clear if someone is commenting on the video or replying someone else's comment.
