Flagship Studios(Blizzard's baby company) was in charge of this. And they jacked it up BAD. I LOVE Hellgate franchise. The books/mangas/comics were amazing. But the game failed in comparison. What you see in this video is nothing like gameplay. And the graphics were horrible to boot. Revamp HG as a console free roam(Think Fallout) and it'd be amazing!

@airmanbrak Yeah it's ah O K game .... You have to remember this was put out also in 2007 , that's when BF 2142 way super big .... BF 2142 graphics where nothing to get all worked up about , not at all . HellGate is a FPS RPG all in one ... so some things have to lack a bit when you combine all that in one game . I don't like the fact that you can not lift a rifle up to your chin and use the scopes .. not even on the sniper rifles but it has good points two.

Ive wanted to play the game for a while now. Ive read the book triology by Mel Odom a while back and it takes place 14 years in the first one 13 in the second and 11 in third before this game. Its pretty much the start of it all. And its Great! They need to make a movie now.

@SirJakeRogers Think about it, a sword can't run out of ammo, you don't have to waste valuable time reloading and you can do just as much damage with a sword as you can with a gun. Plus they can't tear you apart if you cut their arms.

@SupersaiyanBruce And while a sword would require you to be up close, hitting the opponent multiple times before they go down, and if the enemy was leaking fire out of him, it is going to sting like hell because you chose sword to hit him up close. Now if we use a gun we can in one shot kill them, kill multiples in one shot and hit something from a far that could very easily disarm you from a sword.

Hellgate is an excellent game. True, the numerous bugs at lauch killed the game. Evil however is not so easily vanquished. Hellgate is coming back. The original plans were that Hellgate would relaunch during 2010 but I'm beginning to think it won't happen this year. Hellgate does live in Korea for example and the publishing rights for Europe and USA are in the right hands but I am still kinda losing patience here (no news for several months)

Just in case someone might be interested, this game is not completely gone. Multiplayer and official support is dead, buried and rotting with the worms as far as I know, however I still fire up singleplayer every now and then just to do a little hacking and slashing. It runs pretty much the exact same way as multiplayer did, storyline and all.

I recommend it as a game to play for the ten to thirty minutes when you need a break from your main games.
