  • they've had a few members leaving and going to Rolls Royce and Express but often some of them come back.

  • I saw Hawkwind perform Space Ritual for the first time in 1974,(maybe 75) St. Louis, USA. At the time , all of my guitar playing chums said they would never last. The music spoke to me and continues to do so to this day. So get out your Orgone Acumulators and rock through the universe.

  • epic.....hawkwind = epic

  • 30 years later they still rock

  • @surfjunkie421 1969 to present, that's 43 years

  • Watched this vid a few times now.... this is an absolute faultless performance... great stuff!

  • oh man i wanna jam with these guys :D

  • Is that Dave Brock playing bass and doing lead vocals? I though he played guitar...

  • @nickwarhead It's Alan Davey on bass. Dave Brock is on the RHS of the stage wearing the hat.....

  • the violinist kept this song together... fair play to DB mind

  • This is fab... seen them quite a few times since '80, theres nothing like Hawkwind..love it

  • I really liked Bridget Wishart's vocals in this piece. I don't know if it was intentional, but her affectless delivery really suits the acid trip-ish atmosphere of the song. To me, it reflects well that mind/body separation one experiences on psychedelics, where you can experience strange things, yet remain calm.

  • One of the best visual records in the band's history. Bridget, we love you all!

  • fucking sweet

  • i am blown away

  • the woman with goggles can go kill herself. dis-likeable person

  • Ahhhh...... brilliant.

First saw Hawkwind in 2006, never looked back. Missed the legendary era of the festivals and some great lineups, but the flame still burns and the saga goes on.....

  • Sublime!

  • The never ending journey of Hawkwind - 33 years of sheer pleasure; Utopia and Psy Power for me. I used to live in Nottingham and was at this concert - and every other nearby. (Derby, Sheffield, Leicester, St Austell and Falmouth too). Now I live in Canada my greatest sadness was not to make it over for the 40th Anniversary Tour!! Call myself a fan!! Thanks for this posting this Hiessetiff - Hawkwind are in my very being - much love. It it its like a si sillicon chip inside my head......

  • @boogoemama Thanks boogoemama glad you liked it. I've liked Hawkwind myself for a long long time......

  • @boogoemama

Hahaha I only recently (past year or two) discovered Hawkwind. Ye GODS these folks are amazing! Good to hear praise from a long time fan and glad they have longevity! :)

  • they played this last night at falmouth. great show, fantastic as usual

  • "The never ending journey on the edge of time..." Hawkwind had a small, if not perhaps a mildly disturbed following in middle America during the late 70s, early 80s.

    Great stuff, thanks for posting!

  • Most of the guys in this are now in Hawklords and will be touring the U.K. later this year. I can't wait.

  • Just can't listed to Assault & Battery with out HLL's guitar work... cool to see Simon House.

  • ALWAYS AND FOREVER HAWKWIND!!!!!

  • still the best hawkwind album ever sadly not available on cd

  • @MrBloomdido I thought that. Until searching for it for about 10 years, I found it on ebay brand new from greece:)

  • i saw them in very early 1976 at a college near the albert hall. they opened with this & i was blown away. Lemmy had not long left & Stacia had been replaced by a memorable dancer (for a 15 year old lad!) called Ricci, i think. on the way home on the bus, it so happened i encountered the first punk rockers i'd ever met in the flesh!

  • hahahah the lead singer looks like lizard king hahaha

  • Fuuuuck this is so freaking goooooooooood!!!!!!! AMAZING VERSION!!!

  • my lovely period of the hawks....Wonderful,strange feeling..............

  • Just classic

  • Thats what I call a show. Fantastic

  • one of the greatest songs from hawkwind!

  • Lives of great men all remind us we may make our lives sublime And departing leave behind us footprints in the sands of time Of hewn stones the sacred circle where the wizened sages sat Let us try to remember all the times where they were at. So your thoughts they were expecting assault and battery on the human anatomy Assault and battery on the human anatomy man. :)
  • They just dont rock like this anymore, so glad I grew up in the time of bloody awesome music

  • Im a 15 year old girl. And no Bieber or Miley will EVER compare to the greatness of my fathers LP's. I love this.

  • Brilliant

  • Have got Alice Springs and it's beautiful all the way from beginning to end and I play it loud.....thankyou Hawks

  • I''ve been hooked since the beging. there is only one Hawkwind. they cannot be compared with anyone else!!! these 2 tracks(assult&battery/thegolden void) origonaly off Worriors on the edge of time 1975. Was definately way ahead of its time...... Also the virsion off Palace Spings 1991. Fucking awsome, still sends shivers down my spine! Thank you.

  • What's not to like?

  • Ah, the Golden Void.

The moment when the clouds parted and light shone down from the Heavens.

Truly feels like that great moment. May they come again and never close your eyes.

  • This is wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing! Is it available to buy at all?

  • @Nyctophora thanks for the comment, it is available at Amazon UK. YouTube won't let me paste the address but it's just called Hawkwind (DVD), with a blue cover with a spaceship?? on it. The DVD has one comment and was filmed in Nottingham (mentioned in the comment). Hope this helps.

  • @Hiessetiff Thank you, you're very helpful :)

  • travelling up or coming down, this band (and this song particularly) worked for me always! my best friend of 22 years, Rixmyth, introduced me to Hawkwind all those years ago, and even though he's now gone, this music lives on in my heart, and my soul. long live Hawkwind, long live Lemmy, long live Nik!! i love 'em all!

  • why oh why do bands speed up their songs during live shows???? time management?? good lord, that sux. that being said, this is a good version but nothing compared to the original album. and believe me, i've been listening to Hawkwind for 25 years and have seen Nik Turner once. that show was freakin awesome!

  • This was from the music series Bedrock, and filmed live at Nottingham in 1990.

  • To me, when Hawkwind were coming out with material like this, was when they were at their very best.

  • check out PLAGUE OF DEAD HADDOCK on my space

  • totally man ....this is the sort o stuff that got me into hawkwind all those years ago

  • Very great show. Is this from a DVD? What the name and where I can get this???

  • it was a programme on uk channel itv shown around 1990.. so i don't think it was ever released..have seen torrents of it..

  • dvd is live legends,cd is live in nottingham, both easily available on e bay or amazon

  • Nice! Simon's violin playing is so perfect & Bridget is awesome. Alan & Richard are locked in and as alway Dave Brock is THE best.

  • Love Hawkwind like food, but Bridget Wishart sounds like Sandy Toksvig. What a shame.

  • The female vocal is Stacia???

  • Brilliant! This band improve with age.

  • Cruel. Lost another friend last night. She died in my arms while I was petting her and telling her we'd go to the doctor in the morning... She never saw the sun rise anymore... ;-'((

Well I guess this song describes the mood...

  • So beautiful.

  • I agree. Wonderful song! GREAT performance... Awesome!

  • awesome

  • This song is absolutely beautiful, but in my opnion the female singer is not necessary...

  • oh sorry i didn't know Bridget was part of the band at that time.

  • Simon House (hawkwind), David Cross (king crimson) and Ray Shulman (Gentle Giant) are the best violinists ever!

  • man I've been looking for this version for ages thank you so much for uploading it!

  • A sure warm tnx! ,-)

  • The golden void is soooooo great!

I just love Moonglum, the Golden Void and zarozinia... MARVELLOUS!

  • Thank you!!!!! Mostly to the Hawks for doing it, but also very particularly to whoever put this up. Totally awesome!!

  • fekkin a

  • No HHL but Simon House is cool!

  • When's this concert from? I saw them at St.Helens Theatre Royal, back in 1983 I think it was. Excellent concert, but the stage floor collapsed when everyone jumped up to dance right at the end! Nik Turner was with them as well then, Choose Your Masques tour.

  • This was recorded in Nottingham 1990

and was a professional shoot originally made for broadcast on ITV's Bedrock series of concerts. The first time I saw Hawkwind was in Bath Pavilion 1984 also on the Choose Your Masques tour, and yes Nik Turner was with them.

  • @Timebandit720 I just thought about this concert and thought was I dreaming..thanks..

  • This is Hawkwind at their magnificent best:brilliant!!
